This quaint home is approximately 750 square feet with 10 foot ceilings for a real open feel. This shotgun style house is surrounded by lots of natural light and tall windows. The living room contains a comfortable trundle type sofa bed with memory foam topper (not a sleeper sofa with metal bars in your back). A portable crib is available upon request.
There is one bathroom, and a very large kitchen with all amenities, dishwasher, coffee maker, stove , and microwave. Unique to the property is a large open closet and office space with desk, washer and dryer leading you out to a private backyard.
We are California transplants living in Austin for over 9 years. After many years working as freelancers in the television industry, we packed our bags, moved to Austin and opened our first bakery. 3 stores later, and 3 kids later, we call Austin our home.
Cathleen McNelis purchased this house in 2010
We chose the area of Rosedale because of it's walkability to restaurants and the great nearby park. It only takes us 10 minutes to get downtown and if by chance we ever want to ride our bikes to a UT football game we can.
Tall ceilings and windows, lots of natural light. This shotgun style duplex provides the comfort of a real home in a great desirable location.
Great for corporate housing! There is a "bonus" room that features a closet, office space and washer and dryer.
House was cute, cozy and comfortable and neighbors look out for each other. Loved that it had a gas stove. Had a few issues with bathroom water flow and temperature variances.
The place was great Cathleen was also very friendly and allowed me to have an early check in.
House is best for couple but we were with our 12 and 4 year olds. They managed just fine on the pull out bed. Might not be enough space for parents and teenagers. Home is well furnished for the price. Warm and cozy with a nice smaller kitchen. Easy to get places and good food close by. Owners are quick to respond and nice people. Nice park for younger kids very close by. We would stay again if we get back that way
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were in town to race in the half ironman triathlon. It was very convenient to the race location and yet close to shopping and restaurants as well, without being in the thick of young college students partying for football (which we normally love but not when racing :)). Cathleen was very helpful and considerate, the house is equipped with everything you need on the road. We enjoyed the backyard as well, sitting out in the nice autumn air in Austin.
My boyfriend and I visited for 3 nights during the formula 1 races this year and we had an amazing time in Austin. This place was so close to so many great places to eat and shop. We spent most of our time at the race track but we loved being able to come back to this quiet, cozy place when the day was done. Having an entire place to ourselves was so much nicer than dealing with a hotel. The host was amazing to communicate with and she even went above and beyond to get my boyfriend a bottle of his favorite whiskey for our anniversary so that it could be waiting for him upon our arrival! The king size bed was so comfortable as well. We had a few issues with the shower pressure but overall had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Austin area.
We enjoyed our week. The bungalow suited our needs as my wife cannot eat out or use hotels, unless they have a good buffet or kitchen facilities
Loved the idea we were independent & had time to speak to the neighbours.
Any problems, some down to our English ways, Cathleen's husband was there within minutes.
I couldn't compare the bungalow to any other as it's our 1st experience, but we enjoyed it. Would recommend it if your sick of hotel life
The Rosedale neighborhood is located in north central Austin, Texas. . Ramsey Park is located in the heart of the neighborhood, and has a swimming pool, tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas. There are over 1200 homes in the area, a wide variety of restaurants within easy walking distance, and an extensive network of medical services close at hand (including Seton Hospital.
The Rosedale neighborhood began from farm and dairy land in the 1860s. In the 1900s, four florists and nurseries found their home in this area; much of the nursery stock planted during that time remains, as witnessed by the many large trees in the neighborhood.
The majority of the homes in the Rosedale area were built during the 1930s and 1940s. There are continually many renovation projects and new construction throughout the neighborhood, which lends a sense of vitality and renewal. The population of the neighborhood is a fabulous blend of young families, single professionals, and original owners who raised their children here and have many tales to tell.
Beyond the delightful charm of the area, the Rosedale neighborhood's location makes it one of the most desirable of Austin's neighborhoods. There is a close proximity to the Texas State Capitol, downtown Austin, and the University of Texas at Austin, as well as easy access to the main thoroughfares of the city.
