Hi..I love art & I love to travel.. this photo is in London outside the Royal Academy. I am originally from Australia but have lived in Calgary for 40 years on & off - travel in between! My kids have grown & flown but both were brought up in the house. I love the garden & the atmosphere of my home.. it has a charm all its own!

Tina made us feel welcome during our first trip to Canada. Sweet Sunnyside had everything we needed for our short stay during the Calgary Stampede. The location is perfect, close to public transport, grocery, dining options, and nature parks.

Price not reflected in quality
Stayed in basement rooms which had hardly any natural light and was desperately in need of refurbishment. To say the flat was worn out would be an understatement - for example the tiny shower not only had no water pressure, but if anyone else in the house turned on a tap, the immediately change in temperate was dangerous.
What wrankled the most was that the the host lived immediately about in a style which we expected and reflected our own quality of life - it was arrogant to assume her guests would compromise on a standard of living more suitable to a youth hostel.
If the host wants to charge a fee which is higher than many better quality hotels in the city centre, then she must offer a quality product.
The accommodation was indeed well located but recommend that if quality matters, then stay elsewhere.
This is very disappointing and a surprise review from tenants who made no complaints during the time they were resident. I appreciate the feedback about the shower after the fact. No previous tenants have ever stated there were problems. Inquiry into how these tenants were doing and if they needed anything were made on several occasions and the response was consistently ‘fine’.
The tenants were aware it was a basement and presumably viewed photos on the site. It is unfortunate that the tenants were not honest during their stay when effort could have been made to increase their comfort. Comments regarding pricing, given it was during Stampede, are inaccurate.

Thanks for a pleasant stay for more than a fortnight. Only 5 mins walk to the C train station & Safeway, the location is central to several places visitors to Calgary would need to be and to see. Owner dedicated and prompt to attend to any problem that could jeopardise the comfort of our stay.
Love the private entry and the privacy. Would recommend.

Tina was very accommodating and the quarters were clean, well stocked, with clear and positive energy. I was on a business agenda and appreciated the private entry/exit, good internet, and quiet space to work. When work was completed, I enjoyed walks along the Bow River walkway system designed to easily fit a variety of active life styles. I will be pleased to stay again upon my return to the beautiful city of Calgary.
The place is cozy, equipped with all amenities, clean and very close to downtown. Excellent place to stay for new comers and visitors working in downtown. It is near to C train station, grocery shops, coffee shops and walking trail alongside Bow river. The landlord is a cooperating and sweet lady. We were lucky to have this offer before we landed in Calgary as new visitors. She offered us a free car parking, Wifi and cable TV also.

Enjoy a cosy retreat from the bustle of fast lane Calgary, where despite being inner city you can still hear the birds sing & take a leisurely walk or bike ride along the river. The buzz is just 10 mins away in popular Kensington - funky & festive! Take the kids for an island picnic, or to the Calgary zoo..enjoy music & food festivals every summer weekend..and Shakespeare in the park just 10 mins walk away.. and of course in July there is the Great Calgary Stampede! The fabulous Rocky Mountains are just 50 min drive.. but you can see them from the city..snow caps beckoning you to come & explore. Ski & snowboard, hike & rock climb & golfing almost everywhere.. a recreation playground!

The owner is resident upstairs therefore it is easy to have questions answered or assistance given. There is a strict assumption governing a quiet and respectful house of all persons, their privacy, desire for solitude, & their belongings. This assumption extends to respect for the house & grounds - please keep it clean, leave it as you found it & no smoking.
