This Beautiful one bedroom one bathroom condo was formerly a two bedroom opened up to create a spacious living area. The same square footage as a 2 bedroom. The condo is fully furnished and perfectly located in the Truman Annex, a gated community of private homes and condos within two blocks of Duval Street and Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park (best beach in Key West). This First Floor condo is a part of the Shipyard complex and is located in a very secluded area. The decks and gardens are totally private with no condos behind it so no one will be glaring over or down at you. Few condos can offer this privacy in the Annex.

Great for walking, running, bicycling, or any other outdoor activity. Off street secure parking provided on the grounds. There is a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a very comfortable queen-size sofabed in the main living area. Beautiful hardwood floors throughout.

About Paola Forman

In 1992, then Tampa, FL residents Rod and Ruth made their first trip to Key West and began what is now a 23-year love affair with the island. Even after moving back home to Kentucky, they continued to visit Key West nearly every year, often twice a year, taking advantage of the fine restaurants, scuba diving opportunities and the laid-back atmosphere. Throughout the years, they introduced friends and extended family to Key West, even recently bringing one of their children, their teenage son, along for a scuba diving adventure. It has been a dream of theirs for years to own a little bit of paradise in Old Town and with each trip to the island, they would make time to walk around and just to “look” for the right property. After considering many different areas and types of properties, it only made sense that The Shipyard Truman Annex was their new home. The location, amenities and secludedness of this particular condo were what they had been searching for all those years. It is close to the beach, the prefect place to begin your bike tour of the island, a short jaunt to well-loved eateries and within walking distance of Duvall Street, Mallory Square and the SounthernMost Point. Though close to these popular amenities, this condo gives guests the sense that they are nowhere near these high-energy lively places. This lovely one-bedroom, first floor home has double walk-out french doors that lead to one of the largest and most-secluded back decks in the Annex. Begin your morning here relaxing with a cup of coffee. Afterwards, head over to the beach or spend the day soaking up rays by the pool. Maybe find your way over to Duvall Street to shop, or grab a bike and explore the island. Continue your day with a memorable meal. Either cook here at home with the fully-equipped kitchen or head out to some of the best restaurants you will ever encounter. If food is your passion, Key West is your destination. Finally, end your evening at Mallory Square.

Why Paola Forman chose Key West

One of our favorite things about coming to the condo is the location. It is only two blocks from all the action of Duval Street. A perfect day is waking up, relaxing on the back deck, grabbing a late breakfast, walking to Duval Street, riding a bike to the beach, having lunch overlooking the water, taking a mid-afternoon nap by the pool, going for a afternoon bike ride, then heading out to Mallory Square for the sunset, and finally, a great dinner somewhere in town. The great thing about Key West is that you can find anything you are looking for whether it’s a laid back, relaxing vacation or the liveliness and activity you can be a part of on Duval Street.

What makes this condo unique

Since purchasing the condo, we are starting on a redecorating plan. The appliances are new and the floors have been recently stripped. What impressed us with this condo was that the porch and backyard are one of the most private in the shipyard. The sitting area in the condo is twice as big as most of the other homes. Why waste space on a second bedroom if you don’t need it, and there is currently a pull out couch if you do.

My family and I had a fabulous time in Key West and this adorable condo made our stay even more enjoyable!! The space was clean, quiet, and well furnished with up-to-date appliances and furniture. I will definitely be staying here again in the future! Thanks for a great experience!!

Condo Near the Center of it all...

The condo was beautiful and presented just like the photos. The condo was well stocked and the bed was comfy (although a bit noisy) when you moved. The condo bikes were helpful as was the umbrellas and the washer and dryer. We had some difficulty finding the place. I realized that we never received the address to Truman Annex and I couldn't put it into the waze to make our route to the condo from the airport. I did know where the annex was roughly since I had been to Key West before. So I went to the area where I knew the annex to be and looked for the guard house as directed. When we found the security guard house at the end of Southard, they directed us to our unit. I did have the unit number and it was easy to get the keys because they use a lockbox outside the unit and provided me an access code to gain entry. The no address issue was partly my fault as I didn't validate that the address was in my paperwork and didn't realize it until we were heading out of the airport. We were given a phone number to call if we had problems...so I guess I could have just called and asked for the address. I just thought it odd that the checkin directions didnt include an address. It wasn't too big of a deal for someone who's been to Key West before...but it could cause others frustration who weren't as familiar with the island or were checking in late night.

We had a very positive impression of the condo when we first arrived. What we didn't like was within a few minutes of arriving we found a 2 inch roach in the kitchen sink. We killed it and didn't see another. We realize we are in a tropical location...and it can happen....but it wasn't pleasant and I hope exterminators are regularly employed to reduce the likelihood. We washed all our dishes in the dishwasher, made sure all food was always covered or in the frigerator and didn't throw any food in the trash under the sink. We were very cognizant of bugs and did see small flies and other bugs dead in the sink each morning. The source may be the front door that goes out to a small foyer had about a 1/2 inch gap. The gap was big enough that you could see the foyer light from underneath the door at night and I assume bugs could have an easy entry, as the normal rubber threshold under the door was missing. Beyond the concern of bugs, we felt the condo was nicely furnished and was in a great location to access Duvall.

Guests receive specific instructions on how to access the unit, our instructions include an area map and detail GPS Instructions as well as the exact home address. The condo gets treated for bugs on a scheduled rotation, this is a ground floor unit in the tropics, so occasionally you might have that issue after a rainy summer day but the spraying should keep that to a minimum. Nice condo
