About the property

The Beach:

It's really all about the beach! .....complete with your own dock and buoy. Just steps from the house and across the road, this particular stretch of waterfront has a variety of smooth pebbles, medium sized angular rocks and some beautiful, rugged outcroppings providing exceptionally clean swimming conditions. Wearing proper beach shoes is a must! The water is crystal clear and usually free of any duck population.

Tucked into a shady area under the trees, is a 3 seater swinging lounger/daybed.....the perfect retreat in the afternoon. Beach fires are allowed during the Spring and Fall. Several Adirondack chairs and a few lawn chairs are provided for these gatherings.

Just added are 2 large size paddle boards and of course life jackets for everyone.

The Cabin:

This architecturally unique design offers expansive views of Copper Island. In the master suite you will wake to the stunning lake view that spans the entire width of your room. Enjoy a lazy morning in your king size Beautyrest or join the family for coffee down at the beach in your pyjamas.

Now for breakfast...with room for 2 cooks this kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of. The large prep area faces your guests with seating for 6. SubZero-sized refrigeration provides 50 cubic feet for everyone's groceries and beverages! The chef in the family will appreciate the hi- btu, all-gas range and a fully stocked pantry, loaded with serving dishes, appy platters, and a huge selection of oils, vinegars and ethnic spices.

At the touch of a button the steel and glass garage door expands your kitchen to the patio with pond and waterfall. This outdoor entertaining area faces the lake and is where you will BBQ and gather around the gas fire table with seating for 12.

The upper deck also faces the lake and offers very private, alfresco dining with seating for 4 -6 and an upclose view of Copper Island and of course the spectacular, unpredictable sunsets.

Sleeping Arrangments:

The beds at The Birdhouse are dressed in the finest of linens and all have real down quilts with duvets.

The Master suite on upper floor has 1 King bed. A few stairs down from this loft is the large ensuite and wardrobe area which functions as a main bath for this open concept home and features a large, custom tile shower with 3 shower heads and a separate, private, enclosed toilet area.

Mid-level sleeping: : The Tropical room is a favourite with children. This well-dressed, fully enclosed and screened outdoor room is furnished with 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds.

Lower- level sleeping: 1 queen bed with ground floor, level entry access. All doors are 3-4 feet wide on this level. Seniors will prefer this room with their own private toilet and shower. This room is a well-lit bedroom for reading with Satellite TV to wind down in the evenings.

About Nancy Bell

Nancy was born and raised in east Vancouver. Many homes and moves later she is now a permanent resident of Blind Bay. Her love of cabin life began on Horne Lake near Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island 20 years ago with no electricity or running water.

The chance to design and build a lakeside dream home has finally come true. You are invited to explore this intrigueing home and enjoy the best Shuswap experience ever! (Especially the running water!)

Nancy Bell purchased this house in 2010

Why Nancy Bell chose Blind Bay

Located just upsteam from popular Blind Bay, this area is a little bee-hive of summer boating fun and great people. The proximity to the Trans Canada Hwy. and extremely clean, drinkable water makes this location ideal.

Amazing week at an awesome house overlooking the water!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time staying at the birdhouse. This was my second time staying and I would go back again and again. Nancy is a great host, very accommodating. We had a special request before we came and Nancy was great about being flexible due to our special circumstances. That was very much appreciated. Nancy was always available and happy to answer any questions we had. The house is amazing, very modern, clean, nicely decorated, perfect for a family or group to stay. The patio is awesome with a beautiful view of the lake. We loved being able to have the garage door open so we could cook lunch or dinner and still be part of what was going on on the patio. The house is well stocked with all the basic amenities you need (toilet paper, soap, paper towel, towels, laundry supplies, etc). We would definitely recommend staying at the birdhouse and hope to be back again one day!

Fantastic House on Shuswap

  • 5 of 5

We arranged to stay for 3 weeks in September. Birdhouse is well appointed and the ability to open the house up to the patio is a brilliant feature that we certainly enjoyed . Nancy is a generous host and certainly added to our stay and was readily available for any questions we had during our stay. Lovely location, a truly unique home that anchored a memorable vacation in the Shuswap. I place to keep on your favourites list!

Stunning Location!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 8 stayed at The Birdhouse for a week, the home and location are beautiful! The beds were very comfortable and the home is spaced out enough that there are many areas to lounge on your own if you want too. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need including the dishes and pans for the special meals that we planned. Our host, Nancy, was amazing and did everything she could to make our stay perfect including helping with our "25th Anniversary Vow Renewal" which we were able to do right in front of the waterfall! Nancy has a few small projects left to do to complete the work on this home and once they are finished it will definitely be a 5 star home!!! I hope I am able to return for another stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you Tara for your lovely compliments. It's getting better every year and I too can't wait to see the last projects completed. Your event was a first of its kind here at The Birdhouse and was a great success. Here's to 25 more wonderful years! Nancy Bell

Beautiful piece of property and awesome house.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Birdhouse, and Nancy was awesome and super accommodating. Unfortunately we didn't have great weather, but we still managed to use the beach which was steps from the property. I would absolutely stay here again.
