You will feel right at home in this charming, bright, airy Balboa home. Located just 2 blocks from the shops and restaurants on Balboa Island and one house in from the North Bay Front, you and your family can conveniently access all of the amenities that the island has to offer. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and en suite bath; the 2nd level has a full bathroom, a second bedroom with a queen bed and a third bedroom with 2 twin beds. The spacious living room features high ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and large HDTV. You will love sitting in the front courtyard while enjoying another large outdoor fireplace. The inner courtyard also has a dining and seating area. WiFi, washer/dryer, enclosed garage and beach items are also included. A separate one-bedroom apartment is also available for rental, which includes full kitchen, queen bed, sofa bed in the living room, and outside seating area with bbq. It will accommodate an additional 4 guests. This is the perfect setting for a wonderful, relaxing vacation.
We rented this home for 5 nights for our family of 6 (and 1 dog) to celebrate my mothers 70th Birthday. The house is in a great location that is only two blocks off of the main drag, making it convenient to everything. The home is beautiful and full of character that you simply cannot duplicate in modern homes. It slept the 6 of us with ease and comfort. We had many great evenings sitting out front around the outdoor fireplace.
We did have some issues with the house during our stay (after-all, this is a very old home), but Shari was great in handling the situation and making it right. Shari was absolutely great to work with and genuinely cares about her guests.
If you are looking for a fun, spacious, beautiful, centrally located home to stay in on Balboa Island, this is a tough place to beat. Highly recommended!
My wife and I, along with our daughter, her husband and their 2-year old daughter, are just wrapping up a week stay at this house. The location could not be better. 100 feet to the beach on the east side of the island. Perfect place for kids to play in the water and for old folks to plop down in a beach chair. Lots of families and boating activity. Two blocks to Marine Avenue where there are some good restaurants and shops. Half mile walk to a Pavilion (Safeway?) grocery store. The house is very nice. Obviously remodeled within the past five (?) years. We will definitely come back. A couple of suggestions if you rent. If you are driving bring along a couple of fans. Most of the rooms have ceiling fans but we had a couple of really hot nights and were glad to have the fans with us (we have stayed in Balboa previously). Parking is a problem on Balboa. Room in garage for one car and you can tuck a car parallel to the grange door. Better yet, rent or bring bikes. We put one car in the garage, snagged a spot on the street and then used the bikes for transportation. Easy bike ride to the ferry and the bike trail goes up to Huntington. More shops and restaurants than you will ever need within 100 feet of the trail. And an added benefit is that Shari, the agent for the owner, is very professional and easy to work with.
This is a wonderful property in a wonderful location. Walking distance to all of the amenities of this quaint Island! The home is very comfortable and the owners have not overlooked anything that you may need in order to truly relax and unwind. Great Place, hope to be able to stay here again next year!
This charming little cottage exceeded our expectations. The layout was perfect for adults & children alike! It was decorated tastefully, was very clean and had a great TV and toys for the kids, along with beach chairs and a fantastic outdoor shower. Lots of options to eat - in the back courtyard, in the dining room or on the front patio. The location is so convenient not only to the local shops and restaurants on the main street, but also a quick walk to the larger chain grocery store for more every day items. I'm finding a reason to rent this place again!
It's always been my dream to rent a house on Balboa Island. This year that dream came true with this lovely White Castle. This house is filled with amenities, it's a beautiful home away from home. We walk to town several times a day ate it all the restaurants there enjoy the shopping, sand, and water.
