About the property

Charming 1930's Beach House Beautifully Restored To It's "Old Florida" Grandeur!

Welcome to our historic & picturesque beach cottage, Neptune Rising! Originally built in the 1930's, this ground-level coastal cracker home has been beautifully and fully restored to it's original charm of yesteryear. Come and recharge as you enjoy the original heart pine hardwood floors, wide plank walls & ceilings.

The view of the ocean is enticing as you enjoy the amenities of the expansive front screen porch. Located on a corner lot, the walk to the county owned beach is only a short 100 yards away.

Relax in the rocking chairs, porch swing, the sofa, or the dining table as you read a book, nap, or enjoy a meal with family and friends within the alluring screened-in porch!

The comfortable and spacious living room offers two slip covered couches, swivel rocker and other occasional seating. A 32" flat screen TV, DVD player, and large selection of DVD movies are available for your enjoyment. Open to the living room is the dining area that sits 6 to 8. Throughout the home you'll enjoy the work of many local artists of Florida's "Forgotten Coast.

The kitchen is amply stocked with everything you would need to prepare a gourmet meal from the sea or simply making a sandwich. With the long counter, many windows providing a light and cheerful environment, and generous size, everyone will want to congregate together in this vintage kitchen with all it's modern convenience!.

A corner master bedroom features an ensuite bathroom with bead board walls and an antique claw foot shower/tub combo. The 2nd bedroom also features a double bed with a large closet. You'll be transported back to the days of Old Florida as you walk into the old fashioned sleeping porch. This bedroom features a pair of twin beds with an extra trundle underneath. Surrounded by a bank of windows, the young and the young at heart will enjoy games and hanging out in this room.

The large hall bathroom features a tub/shower combination, bead board siding and wood plank ceilings.

Neptune Rising provides use of a two person kayak, 2 oars, and 2 adult life vests! There is a nearby kayak launch at the north side of Neptune Street where you can enjoy the serene and undisturbed Indian Lagoon. On a calm day kayak among dolphins after launching just a few yards away at the beach!

After playing in the surf and sand, rinse off in the hot/cold outdoor shower located in the back yard. Our back yard is completely fenced!

We provide a large driveway that can accommodate up to four cars or 3 cars and a boat. The public boat launch is located about a mile away. There is even a hose to rinse off your boat or your feet!

Jeff and Beverly would love for you to come and experience their little corner of paradise. Our cottage is procrastination inducing. The wide and uncrowded white sand beach beckons you to Neptune Rising.

Great house, nice location and wonderful weather made our stay at Neptune Rising March and April 2017 a great respite from a long Midwest winter. We will be back next year!

Great Time at Neptune Rising!

  • 5 of 5

This Old Florida cottage home is charming. All the furniture is very comfy and the home is well stocked with everything you need. The cottage has been updated while maintaining it's original 1930's look. The beautiful wood floors, walls and ceilings give the cottage a warm and inviting feeling. We couldn't see the ocean from the spacious, private screened-in porch but we could hear the soothing sound of the waves. And it's an easy, short walk to a fabulous, beautiful, huge beach where you can walk for miles. Watch for dolphins, hunt for shells and enjoy the shore birds while strolling the beautiful shore. The fenced in yard worked out great for our golden retriever who loved her daily walks on the dog friendly beach. Glenn (the manager) was very attentive, helpful and friendly. Indian Pass is an undiscovered piece of paradise peninsula with no high rise condos, tourist trap stores, etc. Since we were there in the winter, sometimes we had the beach to ourselves, which was dreamy and wonderful!

Be sure to eat the shrimp or oysters at the Indian Pass Raw Bar which is just down the street.

And be sure to visit old Florida, quaint Apalachacola. Our favorite restaurant there is Up the Creek. The Apalachacola air boat ride or Maritime Museum boat rides are great.

When you go to Port St Joe be sure to eat at Peppers (great Mexican), Sunset Coastal Grill (yes, you can watch the sunset from your table by the window!) and Joe Mama's. The pizza and (for dessert) the pot o chocolate at Joe Mama's are to die for!

And if you don't mind a short road trip, Wakulla Springs boat trip is awesome and well worth it! We've done this several times and each time is different. You'll enjoy the nature of Florida. We've seen lots of gators, turtles, variety of beautiful birds, manatees etc.

End the day with a trip back to the beach, to watch the glorious, amazing sunset!

Old Florida Charm!

  • 5 of 5

Just finished 2 month stay and could not believe it was time to go! Excellent location for beach lovers & pets. We loved the character of this home & it has everything you need. Big advantage was no stairs to climb & fenced in backyard. Met many wonderful neighbors. Our AT&T phone worked very well in the living room & so did lap top. Nice table for seating 6-8. We cooked most meals at home & had everything needed. We have stayed at the Cape, but found this to be perfect.

Mayberry without the crowd

  • 5 of 5

Hated the drive from TN, but loved it once we got there! There were a couple of days when we were the only people on the beach. The house has the perfect layout - even with six adults it wasn't crowded. The decor is awesome as well. The raw bar was a blast, too! Watch out for the sand burrs on the beach if you bring your furry friends. Biggest drawback is driving to get groceries. A bit of a haul, but Port St Joe is the closest. If you want to be near shopping, this is not for you. Cell phones don't work well in the house due to the metal roof and really only works well for Verizon users. Who really wants a cell phone here anyway? It's your chance to go back in time and relax!

Such a relaxing place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 spent five days in this charming, lovely cottage. Amazing screened front porch area, where I spent most my time. Short walk to the beach. Loved how we had access to a kayak, and a wagon to haul the chairs/coolers down to the beach . Huge backyard, with a hammock. By far besst vacation I've had in years!

This house is awesome!! Lots of charm and close to the beach. Enjoyed daily walks on the beach and bike rides to the campgrounds at the end of the road. The walk to the beach is quick and easy. House had everything you need, even a wagon to help carry things to the beach. Will go again, best vacation in years.
