Sugar Shack on the Gulf is a bright, breezy, well-decorated vacation getaway. After a concierge check-in with our property manager, a Certified Galveston Tourism Ambassador, we hope you enjoy our historic home! Built circa 1902, this quaint two-unit cottage is located just two blocks from the seawall! Sugar Shack has been completely renovated, with original hardwood floors, high ceilings and a fully appointed kitchen including granite counter tops and a glass tile back splash. This unit, located downstairs, has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a second bedroom with a twin bunk bed and a sectional sleeper sofa (queen size) in the living room as well. Each unit has a private front porch and spacious back deck that beckon you for morning coffee and evening margaritas to the sound of crashing waves, just blocks away. The private, fenced-in private back yard is beautifully landscaped with luscious tropical plants. Highly desirable, private off-street parking is located behind the backyard fence.
Rates: VRBO allows owners to specify weekly and monthly rates. Ours are: weekly $121/night and monthly $60/night. We also offer a 2 week rate of $90/night, however the system won't allow us to make this quote automatic. Please reach out for more details. Also, monthly rental rates are not available March, June, July & August.

I'm a native Houstonian, who grew up on Galveston's enchanting beaches. Sugar Shack is our second property on the island. Galveston has changed so much over the been in better shape than today! My husband and I hope you fall in love with Galveston just as we have!

We love historic homes! The proximity to the beautiful Gulf of Mexico with it's abundant wildlife and recreational activities could not be beat!
It rained the majority of time we were there so we didn't get to sit in the back and enjoy the yard but we did enjoy the house
Everything was perfect! Clean with all the items needed for a perfect getaway within walking distance to the beach. We will definitely stay again and let our friends and family know about it as well!!
When you first step in you feel at home. We had 5 in our group (4 adults and 1 teen) She quickly felt at home with the bunk beds. They were so comfortable. The master room had a queen size bed and tv. I loved the little bench looking out into the back yard. The couch sofa was very large and comfortable. The owners were so nice. And were always available to answer questions. We were even allowed to check in early. The walk to the beach is actually 2 blocks. And 8 blocks from pleasure pier. We had so much fun we didn't want to leave.
Was just there over spring break March 12-19,2016. Took three boys, 16,12,&8 and 2 puppies: 3&4 months old and my husband and I.
The sugar shack is in a great spot. Located at a 5 minute walk to the beach which was great for the kids and for the dogs.
The manager Ron, was easy to get a hold of and lives right across the street! He told us of great little local eateries and they were all amazing!
The sugar shack provided us with a working washer and dryer, dishwasher, AC unit, hard wood floors, outdoor grill and small patio with table n chairs and with a grassy fenced areafor the doggies to hang outside in.
We were also provided with new sheets for the twin bunks and the queen master bed!
We had wifi and satellite TV, which was a great perk.
Overall this two bedroom unit was wonderful and roomy enough for all of us!
This is everything we needed for a fantastic weekend at Galveston! Super precious place with just the right amount of space for a family of four and our dog, Hogarth! Love the covered and gated patio as well as the gated and landscaped backyard. Having the washer and dryer was awesome, used it twice.
We used the charcoal grill to cook the trout we caught that day. Flat screen with satellite tv in living room and in master bedroom was awesome. I was thrilled to watch "Shark Week" with my family at night.
The Sugar Shack is in the perfect location. Close to historic downtown as well as the more popular seawall attractions, and I would highly recommend the "Black Pearl Oyster Bar" for downtown dining. Thank you for your hospitality, Sugar Shack. We will definitely make sure we stay here again when we return.
We had a great time at the Sugar Shack. It's a nice little house, with all the necessities. I'd definitely recommend to anyone going to Galveston. It's really nice to walk to Seawall in the evening.
This cottage is located 10 blocks from the Pleasure Pier! Great tours available on the island....see the one of the best collections of Victorian Architecture in the United States, either by horse drawn carriage or segway! Other tours definitely worth your time, Duck Tour & Island Tree Sculpture! More information upon request.
