Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This little lakeside cottage is a perfect retreat for anyone looking for a place to stay for a day, week, or month. There was plenty of room for my family and the home owners were very accommodating to our needs. I would highly recommend this home and would gladly stay again if I’m back in the area.

Home sweet home

  • 5 of 5

My family was in the area for my sister's wedding. This house was absolutely perfect for us, and served as a great location for us girls to get ready before the wedding. My family felt right at home. Above all, we appreciate the owners wonderful hospitality! Every question was answered quickly and they were so gracious.

The Place to Stay if you need room and quiet time

  • 5 of 5

Home was just as we anticipated. Quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. All we needed was to buy food. Beds (1 air bed) and 2 mattress beds were very comfortable. Luc was responsive to any and all needs. (although we only needed one thing when a circuit breaker kept popping, he had an electrician there within 24 hours) Large spacious living room and kitchen made my wife happy. The kids loved the WiFI availability.

Town of Hebron is only minutes away with grocery store (Teds Foods), CVS pharmacy, fuel, pizza and a great breakfast joint right on route 66. Colchester, again only minutes away, has HARRY"S PLACE for that authentic roadside hot dog and hamburger place and milkshakes that are just like you remember, and you can't drive a mile without running into dunkin donuts. :-)

Garbage day is Tuesdays, and there is a can in the garage, but Luc will pick it up I believe. Hot water is scalding hot so be careful. adjust water for kids after the lake, The association beach, which is a short walk, requires passes on vehicles and one person in your party. Ours expired a few days after we arrived, but security was understanding and accommodating. I gave the place 5 stars.

The only thing that could make it better ( I was raised in a nearby Town so I knew my way around) would be a small book giving names and locations and hours of local amenities such as Grocery stores, diners etc. Would I stay there again? As Gabby Hayes said "Yer Darn Tootin!"

Oh yeah, did I mention the fishing was great too. I fished off the dam and within minutes caught a bass.

Attractions, a short drive down 85 to Niantic, Natures Way a 65 acre dinosaur and nature preserve, Mystic Seaport, and New London. All day trips. The Mayflower is at Mystic Seaport for refurbishment before setting sail to England on the 400th anniversary of pilgrims landing.

Porch swing was comfy and a nice addition in the evening.

Thank You Mr. Richard. We enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Ed, Thank you for being so accommodating for the electrician to come in and service the breakers. I am very happy you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the neighborhood and the house. I will work on getting the small book of local attractions for the guests that will be coming In the future. That is a great idea. Thanks, Luc

Got the impression from pictures that house was on lake, it is not. Cute house.

  • 4 of 5

Appliances up to date. Needed more instructions on care and feeding of pellet stove. Would go out in a.m. and house would be cold waking up because we didn't clean it first couple of days. Need more living room seating (also difficult to get up out of). Enjoyed our stay in area.

Owner's Response: Hi Francine, I am so sorry that you thought the house would be on the lake. You must of been very disappointed. That is not how i imagined you feeling the first thing when you arrived at my place. In my own defense here, the description does say that the lake is a three minute walk from the house. I can make that more apparent in the description. The pellet stove does need to be cleaned out every day and that is why is didn't heat correctly. I will put specific directions on the wall near the stove. Please know that you can always call me on my cell phone if you have any questions, i would of been more than happy to serve you and provide you with specific instructions. I am sorry that this caused more of a negative and probably cold feeling. I hope that you were able to find the thermostat to raise the heat up to your comfort level. Your right, I will look into gettting more seating for the living room, seating that is easy to get out of for future folks like yourself. I hope you come and visit again. I AM VERY HAPPY THAT YOU ENJOYED YOUR STAY IN THE AREA! Thank you Francine.
