This is the perfect place to escape: beautiful and peaceful and owned by a great host.
This little cabin in the woods offers so much! From the drive through the woods and through the river 😳 to the surprises around each corner of the property, watching my husband throughly enjoying fishing and visiting with our host Rudy -- well I didn't want to leave!! You don't want to miss out on this little piece of heaven!
Tranquility off the beaten path
Rudy is a gracious host. My two teenage boys and our family enjoyed a life without phones, texts, snapchat, etc. and the hectic pace of life for a few days. Rudy's 1/2 mile stretch of water is a perfect place to teach anyone how to fool a trout on the fly. I can only hope to return to this sliver of God's country sooner than later. If you want to escape the the crowds, the traffic, the rush, and the rest of the South's summer swelter head to Rudy's piece of mountain paradise.
Away from it all
My two boys and I finished our 8 days in Western North Carolina with 4 days at Mr. Roach's place. It was the perfect end to a great week. My Boys are 18 and 24. Our first 5 days were spent rafting and Kayaking so our 4 days in the Cabin were the best way to turn off the outside world and settle a bit before heading back to the rat race.
When you leave the pavement and start your winding 6 mile ride to the property on a dirt road (driving through a stream at one point), it sets the tone to “slow down”.
As you turn onto the property the constant sound of the rushing water leads you to your cabin. The cabins are extremely nice. A/C if you need it, washer dryer, cable, all the amenities of home (we watched the Olympics in the evenings).
We fished most of the 4 days. Wandering along the shallow creek throughout Randy’s 18 acres. As saltwater fishermen, we were slightly out of our element but Mr. Roach was around to give us some pointers. The Trout are wild and persnickety so it’s a real accomplishment to land ‘em. We had a blast and plan to make it back next summer. Thanks Randy!!!
If you're looking to decompress from your hectic life and reconnect with nature and your special someone, look no further. Rudy Roach's cabins on Buck Creek will be your answer. Nestled among giant Hemlocks and Rhododendrons and entertained by the gentle song of the cascades, these little cabins are the perfect retreat from crazy busy life outside of the mountains.
Be prepared to be amazed as you turn off of 64 and enter a majestic calm. The long, winding, bumpy dirt road leading down the mountain will serve as a way of shaking off the city to prepare you for the peace that you've been longing for, awaiting your visit.
Mr. Roach is incredibly friendly and so eager to share his little slice of paradise with you. The fishing was great, but there was no beating the feeling of completely unwinding.
If you are seeking electronic entertainment or being surrounded by crowds and nightlife this is not the place for you. The air is fresh, the water is clean, the environment Mr. Roach is developing is nothing short of beautiful. Prepare to be awed. You might want a jacket because it's quite cooler than the surrounding areas.
We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did and we can't wait to go back!
With Kindest Regards,
Debbie and Bill Naylor
Excellent trout fishing.
Some of the best private water in N.C. the rainbows were agresive and average of 14 inches. Very quiet and a great place to unwind. Ruby is pure Gentleman and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay.
If you are a fly fisherman and would like some water to yourself then this is your place to go.
