Our stay in Vicopisano, a quiet little village near Pisa.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable apartment is fully furnished for preparing meals. However, bed slopes toward middle and could use a new mattress. In our opinion, getting to apartment from the airport requires a rental car equipped with GPS, which is also extremely helpful in getting from there to popular tourist towns such as Lucca, Volterra, Siena, etc. Free parking near apartment is a real plus. Our host, Marie, is English-speaking (a rarity among property renters in Italy, in our experience) and is very helpful with tourist advice. The town itself can be walked around completely in about ten or fifteen minutes. When we arrived in the early afternoon everything was closed. By 5pm we found a small market and a bakery open. We were told that restaurants in town generally open around 8pm. If you're looking to avoid city traffic this is the place to be.

Really good time in Nido Bianco in Vicopisano. Great hosts, with lots of practical help and advice.

  • 5 of 5

The property is really well equipped, with all the amenities you would need. Very clean and well maintained, with everything working perfectly. Great location within the village and the private garden area was a real bonus for breakfasts and evening drinks. Patrizia and Marie were very attentive and we particularly appreciated Marie's company on our visit to the nearby olive oil farm and her booking of local restaurants for us. Great base for visiting Florence, Lucca and Pisa. Marie was very helpful with advice about local restaurants and gelato shops. The personal touch from Marie, making sure we were well catered for, was fantastic and greatly appreciated.

This is an authentic Tuscan village, which is well worth a visit. We loved our stay here.

A great village to base yourself in

  • 4 of 5

The property is small, but you can tell that from the pictures. There is a decked garden area at the rear which is lovely to sit in and we enjoyed a couple of meals there. The apartment is well equipped. You will pay five euros a day extra for the aircon but it is needed in summer. The apartment is near the church bells that ring all night. We adjusted after a day or so. The village is lovely, very authentic, nice cafe bars and not expensive. Lorenzo and Marie live nearby, and were very helpful in recommending where to go, where to eat and the local wine is lovely. Its a great place and recommended by us.

Gorgeous and Lovely - And more than recreative!

  • 5 of 5

We (my girl friend and me) really enjoyed our stay. Patrizia and Marie did their really best for us (small introduction tour through the city of vicopisano, lightening up candles in the backyard and so on and so far). The appartment indeed was stylish and romantic. Hopefully, we can enjoy it a second time. Definitely recommended to go here!

Lovely little apartment for two in a nice little village

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was a great little place to stay while exploring Tuscany and the nearby cities. Vicopisano is well located to reach the three nearby cities - Lucca, Pisa and Florence - with a train station only a 15-20 minute drive away in Pontedera with good parking. The apartment itself is well located in the village, with the main square only along the street, where you can find everything you need, including a nice food market that comes around on Saturdays.

The apartment itself was lovely, with an excellent welcome pack featuring some nice Tuscan items. Everything that we needed was there and clean (towels, bed covers etc.) and it was great to have somewhere where we could cook our own meals the nights that we didn't go to the local restaurants or to the pizzerias. Marie and Lorenzo were extremely friendly and helpful, as well as Patrizia and family, with Patrizia and Marie helping us out when we had issues with the rental car company - helping us get to the train station on the Sunday (no buses) so we could head back to the airport and have our second attempt at renting a car! They were always willing to help with booking restaurants or taxis as well as giving information on the local activities - while we never undertook any of their authentic experiences, we are sure they would have been excellent.

Overall we had an excellent week in Vicopisano and would recommend it to anyone who was looking to live in an authentic Italian village, as well as a relatively easy commute to all of the big cities. Thanks again to Marie, Lorenzo and Patrizia!

Owner's Response: Dear Dale, how wonderful it was to read your informative review. I’m sure our future guests will love all your hints and tips! Many of our guests love to do the big 3: Pisa, Lucca and Florence and as you found they are all easily accessible from Vicopisano. It was great to hear that you found Vicopisano a friendly authentic village with its handful of good restaurants, local stores and weekly market – actually we have an additional market on Wednesday as well, it’s only small but it’s hosted by local producers offering cheeses, meats, fresh fruit and vegetables. Nido Bianco is the perfect retreat for couple and we are so pleased you found the apartment comfortable with everything you need. We were also pleased that we were able to help with little issues in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Living like a local is great fun but it’s always nice to have a real local a few doors away to back you up in times of need! We love guests like you looking for an authentic experience – thank you for finding us. With warmest regards Marie, Lorenzo (property managers) and Patrizia (your host)

Great apartment beautifully designed in centre of Medieval village

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in Patrizia's lovely studio apartment in early March this year. Patrizia has created an extremely stylish space within a very old Tuscan townhouse - she has a great eye for design and thoughtful finishing touches. It was great coming back to the comforts and warmth of Nido Bianco after days out exploring this authentic and unspoiled region of Tuscany. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom is beautiful, sparkling and pristine and the kitchen has everything in it you could want - the Welcome Pack was much appreciated! I particularly chose Nido Bianco because I had already stayed in one of Marie and Lorenzo's properties before and knew that they would ensure I had a wonderful time again. They are the most caring and welcoming people and arranged great activities for me: the amazing olive oil tasting on the local organic farm, wine tasting nearby and organized for me to join guests in another property for a tremendous cooking lesson which was great fun. They made this solo traveller feel especially welcome by inviting me for Prosecco, apericena and pizza one evening during my stay - they are terrific company! Nido Bianco is in the heart of the village, a few doors down from a cosy and friendly little bar and a newly opened cosy restaurant - and also just a very short walk to the village square where there are more shops, bars, fresh fish van and ATM. Once or twice a week there is a farmers' market in the square and a monthly antiques/bric a brac market. I was very happy staying in Nido Bianco in the heart of the very charming and authentic village of Vicopisano which was a great base for discovering the best this part of Tuscany offers - nearby cities of Pisa, Lucca and Florence - and the coast which is just 30 minutes away. Nido Bianco is the perfect place for a solo traveller or couple to stay in and enjoy.
