Perfect Getaway, Pristine Condition & Caring Owners

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful 5 night stay here. The owners live onsite and do a great job of extending their hospitality but are very respectful of their guests' privacy. The Guest floor offers a very spacious, well equipped suite with the living area having panoramic large windows that bring the view right inside. The property sits on over 64 acres of forest -- there are no other homes that share this mountaintop. Just Fantastic!!

Owner's Response: This couple were the best guests one could ask for. Amiable and very pleasing. They left the place like they had not been there. We and our friends enjoyed them and their well behaved and beautiful pup. They make hosting a pleasure and not a chore.

What a view!!

  • 5 of 5

Edward and John Paul are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. The view from this self contained apartment is spectacular and the amenities are terrific. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for us and the next morning and there was coffee on hand which was great considering we had not yet been to the store to pick anything up. You really can't find a better place to stay than this amazing apartment with such gracious hosts.

Beautiful and remote...at the top of the world (actually, a mountain)... clean, upscale, excellent!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful property to stay in during our 4 day getaway weekend to Highlands/Cashiers. Note: Don't rent this if you don't have a four/all-wheel drive vehicle. The last few miles to the top of the mountain are very curvy and also are gravel roads.

This gem is owned by two gentlemen- both creative, educated, knowledgable and vastly interesting. One, JB, is an amazing and prolific artist whose beautiful and diverse paintings decorate the rental and the owners' home above the rental. His partner Edward was a delightful hair artiste who had exciting stories to share about his WWII experiences in Germany, his long and successful career doing the hair of the rich and famous, and much more.

Beautiful, upscale accommodations included a deliciously comfortable king sized bed, a good sized shower and bathroom, a very stocked kitchen (everything except for the food) and a comfortable, open great room with an overstuffed sofa and chairs. But the real star of the show is the amazing and totally private view of the mountains from the large windows, along with the huge patio overlooking the charming wildflower garden and mountains.

We have two small dogs (a ShihTzu and a Wheaten Terrier puppy) and they loved being here too.

We enjoyed hiking two days in the surrounding national forests, shopping and dining in Highlands and Cashiers, and returning each evening to our private enclave at the top of the mountain.

Allow 20-30 minutes drive time to downtown Highlands from this gem.

Thank you, JB and Edward, for a fantastic mini-vacation and the great conversation. We will be back soon!

PS . JB, please connect to me on Facebook.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We travel all over the world staying in wonderful places we find through HomeAway/VRBO. The condos, apartments, homes are always very nice and comfortable... but this one was special. The apartment was incredibly comfortable and the small things like special amenities in the bathroom supplied by the owner just told us how much they cared for our comfort. While the apartment is part of the owners home, we had complete privacy. Even so, the owners- Edward and Jean-Paul- are so interesting and genuine that we spent very fun time with them over cocktails several evenings during our month long stay.

Strangely, I have forgotten to comment on the incredible view from our deck at the top of the mountain...WOW. It doesn't get better than this. If you get the chance, stay here- I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we have.

Owner's Response: Jim and Marguerite are the warmest most generous and sincere people we've had the honor of hosting. They are truly genuine and reciprocate with true intent. I would recommend them to anyone wishing good conversation cheer and a sharing of a glass of wine. Edward

MOUNTAIN TOP SERENITY

  • 5 of 5

Edward, staying in your PLACE was one of the HIGHLIGHTS of our trip. (besides the awesome weather you ordered) . The view, your lovely gardens, and accommodations were awesome. Excellent rental for couples with well behaved 4 legged fur babies. We enjoyed time in Highlands , the falls and scenery between there and Scaly Mt. Just a short drive between the two. We enjoyed the shopping, Wild Thyme Cafe, Mt Fresh Grocery, and Wine Shoppe in Highlands. The city if very dog friendly and quaint. Many thanks to You, JP and Keats for your hospitality. Look forward to a return visit in the fall when leaves are Golden Red and Yellow.

Terrific experience

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent one week between Christmas and New Year's at this property outside of Highlands. We loved the remote location of it. It truly felt like you were out in the wilderness. The view was phenomenal. It was as good as we've ever had at any property. It truly felt like you were staying on the summit of a mountain that looked over 4 other ridgelines. The owners, John Paul & Edward were outstanding hosts. They always wanted to make sure that all was well with us and our stay. They even invited us to amazing dinner and drinks and awesome conversation, near the end of our stay. The rooms were marvelously appointed as you would want in a very nice mountain cabin. We highly recommend this place. It will usher in a new experience of peace and silence to your life experience.

Owner's Response: It's the easiest thing in the world to host a couple that is educated civil and clean. We really appreciated their stay. We pride ourselves with leaving people their space and privacy other then inquiring of their comfort and attention to surroundings. This couple were delightful and I would recommend them highly anywhere they apply a stay at.
