Guestbook comments from the manager

This was a fantastically renovated and updated condo at the Hawaiian Princess, well equipped with everything you need for a short or lengthy stay. We stayed for 2 weeks and just loved the location in the condo building. The 9th floor is a great blend of views of the valley and the ocean. If you have not stayed at the Hawaiian Princess, this is a premiere quiet location which provides as close to a private beach as you can imagine. Great scenery. Turtles, a monk seal, and whales breaching in the horizon were almost a daily occurrence during our stay.

Thank you Melissa

No AC, no dryer

  • 1 of 5

We had no AC. There where tons of fans when we went into the condo. Not a good sign. Complained and was suppose to see some compensation, but didn't. Dryer didn't work. Whole west side of island needs to be cleaned up. Lots of homeless living on beach. Burned out cars all over. Very few restaurants close by.

Owner's Response: Hi Robert, We are sorry that you felt the condo did not meet your needs. We have owned this unit for over 15 years and all of our renters have been very happy so far. We also go there a couple of times a year. The air conditioners in Hawaii are sometimes not the best as they use a swamp cooling system which can be not as effective as the main land and hence why we use both AC and fans and most people like the fresh air which is why we have the louvers on the front door. The combo of the lovers and sliding door give you the fresh ocean air but, we did have the air checked and it was working. Also, the dryer was working so not sure what happened there. When we heard you were not happy we agreed to pay for another unit for you to stay in and you declined so we figured that it must have been okay. The west side of the island is definitely a lot more primitive but there are not homeless living on the beach the state of Hawaii does a great job in finding them specific locations to live in and any tropical islands can tend to get their share of homelessness due to the weather. Most travelers that choose our condo for their visit to Oahu is to get away from the typical touristy places like Waikiki and to experience a more local and colorful environment. Yes, we may not have the 4 and 5 star restaurants but there are some great local places to eat that we have listed in our guest book, also the KoOlina Resort has a lot of additional fine dining and that is only about 20 minutes away. Again, sorry you were disappointed but for your next trip you might want to consider Waikiki. Mahalo, Steve & Melissa

Loved the beach

  • 5 of 5

Just stayed here for 5 nights. A previous review said it was in a seedy part of town, it sort of is. But this spot is safe, we never felt intimidated. The condo is great, bed is comfortable, the kitchen is all stocked, the big screen t.v. Is a bonus, but it is the view that is worth a million dollars. The view was amazing, sitting on the balcony and using the owners binoculours to watch turtles, whales and dolphins, just spectacular. And the beach is fabulous, it's huge and never busy. Some days the waves are overpowering, and some days were calm, the water is crystal blue, the beach is just so picture postcard perfect. There is no automatic ice maker, you will have to make your own ice. We did our grocery shopping at Tamuras, they had everything we needed. There are no 'fancy' restaurants in this area, a lot of fast food though. We met a family that had been going there for 36 years and love it, that should say something about its reputation. We only did one tour while we stayed here and that was Pearl Harbour, it was a great tour, humbling. If you are going to cook every day and don't mind it, this is the perfect condo for you.

Happy Traveler!!!

  • 5 of 5

Just spent the most amazing 10 days at this wonderful condo! The view is outstanding. The condo was clean and the King size bed was so comfortable. I truly felt like I was at home. The owner was so easy to work with and I can say that I will be coming back again. My husband and I can't stop talking about the monk seal, turtles and the 30 plus dolphins we enjoyed seeing from our balcony view. We tried snorkeling for the first time and we loved it. I would highly recommend this condo. I am one happy traveler! 🐠🐋🐳

Don't expect much but a beautiful view!!

  • 1 of 5

I would have to totally disagree with the description of this place as my experience was not anything like that or the posted reviews. The renovation is several years old (and visibly so) and several things didn't work like the dryer, ceiling fan in the LR (the blades were so loose they were about to literally fall off. The central AC struggled to keep the place somewhat cool and the curtains on the back window were only half there (i.e. 4 rods and only 2 sections of curtain) so the afternoon sun really heated up the unit. There were a couple of electrical outlets that only one socket worked (I think that would be considered a fire hazard). I contacted the number listed for issues with the unit and absolutely nothing was done not even an apology. The beach chairs and toys were in very bad condition or flat out broken, the lani had six chairs (one of which was broken) and two tables so there was barely room to move. The bed and the reclining sofa were comfortable and there was a beautiful view however I would not consider it one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Hawaii and there was literally nowhere close by that one would feel comfortable going to after dark (i.e dining or just to have a few drinks) nor was there anywhere good to eat lunch within 30 minutes of the place. This was our 5th trip to Hawaii and we truly did not enjoy it and will not be going back to this area. The complex is gated and has 24 hr security but the homeless and thugs make getting there uncomfortable (there was a young lady that had a man grab her by the arm and try to pull her out of her car while she was scanning the security key for the gate to open, the security guard did manage to run the guy off but the girl was really shaken up). I would not recommend this place for anything but the view.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry that your were not satisfied with your stay at our condo. This is the first negative review we have had in the 15 years we have owned the unit. To address some of the concerns mentioned; the unit has gone through a lot of remodeling over the past five years and the kitchen remodel was very recent. We spend a few weeks there every year and are consistently making upgrades to make it comfortable for our renters. For the price of the unit and the location, it is a tremendous value. We have been going to this part of the Island for over 15 years and have never felt threatened by the neighborhood. Crime statistics show that issues on this part of the Island are a lot lower than Waikiki and other areas. It is definitely farther away from all the regular tourist attractions but this is why people chose to stay in this part of the Island. We provide a book with all of the local eateries that are quite good and KoOlina is only 20 minutes away if you want more fine hotels and dining. I talked with our property manager and they indicated that they worked with you and resolved the issue. They are available 24x7 for any problems related to our condo and have worked with them ourselves! We appreciate your feedback and will continue to work to make this the best vacation experience! Excellent well maintained condo with the perfect view

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastically renovated and updated condo at the Hawaiian Princess, well equipped with everything you need for a short or lengthy stay. Since this was our 3rd visit to the area, we made sure we stayed in this condo for our second time. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and just loved the location in the condo building. This condo has a great blend of views of the valley and the ocean. If you have not stayed at this location it is a premiere quiet location which provides as close to a private beach as you can imagine. Great scenery. turtles swimming along the shoreline, and several times whales breaching in the horizon during our stay. Thanks gain Melissa, and we look forward to staying in your condo again soon.

A Real Hawaiian Gem

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of the property are great, but you really need to stay here to really appreciate the spectacular views. We drove around the island, and could not find a better beach than this one. Additionally, Melissa provides everything you need to relax, and have fun. If you are thinking about staying at a resort, forget about it. Book this property, and you will not be disappointed.

Overall this property exceeded my expectations. And when I do come back to Oahu, I will be staying here again.
