About Michelle Bautz
We grew up in North Dakota vacationing in the Alexandria area. We love everything about lake cabin life from swimming and boating to fishing and camp fires. We are the kind of people that blow up all of our "floaties" each spring to see which floating lounge chairs, air mattresses, and tubes need replacing! We do like winter activities in Minnesota but there is something so exciting about seeing the ice come off and the docks go in every Spring!
Michelle Bautz purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Michelle Bautz chose Farwell
You might not even believe how unique this property is. It is located at the very point of a finger of land that extends out into Mill Lake. The cabin is almost right on top of the water...on 3 sides! There is great parking, even if you are bringing a boat trailer. There are two docks and even a boat lift if you want to bring your boat. The cabin faces the lake with a wall of windows and with a giant deck for watching sunrises and sunsets. Young kids literally go crazy for the lofted sleeping area. The interior of the cabin is finished with pine and has both a dining table and counter bar area with 4 stools.

Great location on the point!
We stayed for three weeks and everything was as advertised. Lots of privacy and a beautiful view of the lake. We were able to do some fishing off the dock, but also rented a boat from Mill Lake Resort on the lake and easily docked it at the cabin during our stay. We enjoyed the firepit many evenings with the firewood provided. When Michelle says all you need to bring is your clothes and food she is serious - the kitchen was fully stocked with paper products, storage bags, all cooking utensils, etc. All towels provided, indoor and some outdoor games, even a fishing kayak. We used the grill often as well. Michelle was readily available for any questions. Be aware the loft steps are very steep but sure older kids would love it. There was no wifi but hopefully they will be able to connect soon. The swimming area was somewhat weedy this year, but it's a lake so that's to be expected! We would highly recommend this cabin and would not hesitate to stay again!
It was the perfect setting and location for our family to both fish and enjoy lake scenery.
We had a great week of fishing, relaxing and enjoying lake life. The cabin was clean, ready for our stay, suited perfectly for our needs. It was so nice to have both bath towels and beach towels, in addition to other paper products, available for use.
The cabin is very cozy and inviting.
We enjoyed the lake scenery taking in both sunrise and sunsets from the dock or the deck. With firewood provided, we enjoyed bonfires by the lake. We loved the cute chairs around the fire pit.
We brought our fishing boat so spent many days on the lake catching fish, or enjoying the ride.
With kayak provided, explored the lake and even caught a fish or two.
The hosts were very friendly, accommodating, and returned messages in a timely fashion.
Can’t wait to come back!
Thank you so much!!

Cute Clean and Comfy
Cabin was cute clean and comfy. There was a strange smell in the cabin. Kind of musty it went away when we opened windows but if we had to close up the cabin and use the air the odor came back. Had some issues with the cabin next store on Saturday and Sunday. About 9 young men having a good weekend I'm sure. They were loud and the language was unreal( we had my 4 year old with) We tried to talk to them and asked them to tone down the language but I think it got worse not better after we did. I could go on about this because it was an action packed 2 days for these boys but, this is something totally out of Michelle control and does not reflect on her or her property. Im sure we hit the one weekend that this happened and by Sunday night it was quite and peaceful again. The one really nice thing is the way the cabin is situated on the land the deck you see in the pictures can not be viewed by the neighbors. It faces the point and you have nothing but lake and vegetation on both sides of the deck and a beautiful view of the lake. So even with the issues with the neighbors it wasn't like we couldn't get away from 80% of the noise and actions. Besides that one blip in the weekend the cabin and our stay was delightful. Beautiful lake with good fishing even off the docks. We would rent this property again.
There is not WiFi yet, and the boat lift is not in use.
Overall our stay was great. The property is beautiful. Close to the water, with spectacular view. The cabin in charming with all the comforts of home.
Lovely cabin, fun spot!
We had such a fun time here! The cabin was a great fit for us and the location was wonderful. Great fishing on the lake! Everyone had a great time.
It was perfect!
We had an awesome week! Cabin was very clean and had everything there we needed. Loved fishing off the dock, sitting on the deck and the view is Beautiful! Would definitely go back!

And here's what the official Alexandria web site says:
Alexandria is located in the heart of lake country in West Central Minnesota and serves as the county seat of Douglas County. The city population is 13,045 within city limits, but the unique layout of over 300 lakes in the county makes the service area more like 35,000 people. It’s a perfect balance of size which offers quiet and quaint relaxation, while also possessing comfortable full services and all the best shopping, dining and overnight accommodations that you can imagine. While all the lakes and woods provide great outdoor opportunities, you can also find plenty of fun around many of our attractions. Alexandria has a thriving Downtown district, excellent trails, plenty of arts, museums, parks, wineries and a whiskey distillery. (from explorealexandria.com)
