We have been looking for the perfect summer house rental for the past few years and are so happy to have finally found it! JoAnn had chilled wine, cheese, and crackers waiting for us when we arrived plus coffee and eggs for the morning. She even gave us a tour of her lovely home. The library room provided more than enough space for our two kids. The master bedroom upstairs had a lovely view of the water and pretty much took our breath away when we first set foot in it. The kitchen is large and well-supplied. The deck was where we spent most of our mornings and early evenings enjoying the comings and goings from Granite Pier. The house is tastefully appointed with wonderful artwork, pottery, and other objects. The location is far from the crowds but about a 20-minute walk into town, and even closer to the town beaches, Back Beach and Front Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful town of Rockport, and discovered more every time we were there. In addition, there are so many things to do within a short drive: Halibut Point State Park, The Paper House, Stage Fort Park, Wolf Hollow in Ipswich, the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, plus the famous beaches in Gloucester (go later in the day for reduced parking). JoAnn was always available when we had questions and gave lots of great advice about things to do.
You will see a number of great reviews for this property in Rockport... and they're all true!
JoAnn does a truly amazing job ensuring that you enjoy your stay. She went above and beyond our expectations, from coffee and juice waiting for us in the fridge, to giving recommendations for the best places to fish near Rockport. I rent homes 2-3 times per year, and I can say JoAnn is one of the best I've met to date. Thank you!
The home is beautifully located along the water near Granite Pier. From there you can easily walk to the beach or marina, or just enjoy some peace and quiet at home! There are a number of easily accessible restaurants and stores nearby. My family and I enjoyed going into Rockport for breakfast each morning and spending the rest of the day at the beach. If you need recommendations for places to find sea glass, ask JoAnn!
I can't say enough good things about this property. You'll find lots of nice homes along the North Shore, but I doubt many will come with the hospitality that you will enjoy here.
My family and I just returned from a fantastic stay in Rockport, thanks to JoAnn and her charming home. From the fresh flowers to the welcome basket of wine, cheese, crackers and more, JoAnn was a beyond gracious host. The house was clean, welcoming and relaxing. It felt like home, but with an amazing view! Perfectly situated – close enough to walk to all of Rockport’s most-loved amenities, but yet far enough away to enjoy the peaceful sound of the ocean without any distractions. I can’t say enough about how sweet and lovely JoAnn was before, during and after our stay. She has a truly beautiful home and it’s obviously a direct reflection of what kind of host (and person) she is.
My husband and I spent a very special two weeks in this home and fell in live with it and the surrounding area. The house is a charming combination of history and modern conveniences. It had everything and more than what we needed. It's close enough to town to enjoy the action, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of a private retreat, with a nice view of the ocean. We spent many quality days and evenings with our daughters who visited from Boston, BBQ'd, drank wine and ate dinners on the deck and played croquet (which the owner provided) in the backyard. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate our every need, from basic welcome food items in the fridge (cheese, coffee, eggs, etc) to spot on recommendations of things to do in the area. She is a delightful and authentic host, who had our genuine enjoyment at heart. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home and will definitely return in the future.
This house is a dream - great views, great kitchen. The location is far enough from the other vacationers, but close enough to easily get to town or the beaches. The owner was fully engaged in making our stay enjoyable - the kitchen was prepared with everything we might need, even moved beds to allow for another couple comfort in the 2nd bedroom. JoAnn kept in touch to ensure that we had arrived without problem and regularly made sure we were ok. I can't say enough about this owner and this property: 10 of 10. :)
Really I cannot say enough wonderful things about our lovely host, the house, the location, everything. A beautiful renovated home, excellent location and ocean views, quiet and peaceful location but in walking distance to the town center of Rockport. JoAnn was an excellent host, provided basic necessities (from eggs to milk to coffee to toiletries.) We were more than comfortable during our relaxing mid August stay in Rockport. Thank you for everything!
Located a short walk from the village, Bearskin Neck, the Shalin Lui Performance center, the property is steps away from Historic Granite pier and public boat launch. Also steps to trails to the famous stone bridge and nearby quarries. A short walk to back beach and front beach, to July 4th parade and on site of Illumination Night.
