About Jean White

I have lived in Western Nc with my husband and daughters and now granddaughters for almost 30 years. My husband and I are in the field of Physical Therapy. We moved here from Charlotte to raise our children in this environment where as outdoor enthusiast we could hike, bike, kayak swim and basically take in all the beauty this area has to offer. We have never stopped exploring and loving it all. As the area has grown and changed it now offers amazing restaurants, music venues and each town close by has its on special uniqueness which we experience constantly as they are all a very short drive away including Asheville.

The house is super cute and my kids loved the toy room!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying at the house. My kids loved exploring outside also. I gave 4 stars only because it was a little further from town than I would have hoped for since we were there for a wedding. But over all we loved it.

For the money, could not ask for more

  • 5 of 5

For a group of 6 mountain bikers, it worked out great. House is big and furnished functionally, maybe bring your own pillows. Would be nicer if they allowed dogs.

Spacious home surrounded by trees

  • 4 of 5

This is our second time staying in Jean’s home and enjoyed our stay on both occasions. The first time we stayed was in June of this year and the second time was September (evacuated due to Hurricane Irma). The first time we stayed here, we enjoyed laying in a hammock (which we brought with us and was the first time we used it) and listening to nature.

We have visited the NC area for the past 7 years, and stayed in the Franklin and Laurel Springs area. The home is central to the Dupont State Forest, Hendersonville and Asheville area, which is exactly what we were looking for (private and lots of beautiful trees surrounding the home). We enjoyed our many hikes through the Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest and Pisgah Forest area.

My teenager enjoyed having the upstairs area all to herself. The upstairs area (although may not be suitable for everyone) is quite cozy with a spiral staircase leading up to the main level, spacious king size bed, sitting area and ensuite bathroom. My two toddlers slept on a double futon with no problems and enjoyed playing with the toys that are provided.

Thanks, so much Jean for allowing our family to stay in your home. This is exactly what we needed to escape from all the craziness from Hurricane Irma. We will definitely be back again soon!!!!

My family had a great time at your home. We had plenty of space and a perfect view of the TOTAL eclipse from your back deck. We will surely want to visit you again.

Great Visit - Price was awesome!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great visit and compared to any hotels in the area the price was amazing. It is a bit of a drive into the Mountains (forest) but I feel that is part of the charm. We were able to have 2 families (4 adults, 3 children, 2 infants) . The Whites provided a pack and play which was great.

The great: Grill, View, Price, Water(just great), Wifi, netflix, pack and play, Deck was great, near Dupont Forest (fantastic waterfalls)

The drawbacks: very little mobile phone coverage(again maybe part of the appeal) Drive into the mountains (part of the appeal) , There is a Rooster that crows but it is not very close and it didn't bother anyone in our house.

Comments: Great stay we are very happy would come again!!! Small fixes that could help. ignition is not working on grill but owner brought lighters which helped, There are not grilling tools (no metal spatula) we worked around this but an upgrade here might help those that wish to grill for many meals. Some of the gravel at bottom of the road washed out but it seems to have been fixed right away I don't know if the owner did this or other residents on the block but it was very appreciated.

Overall 5 stars more than worth the money we could not hope for more thank you!!!

Country Rustic Good for Thrifty Budget Younger Set

  • 4 of 5

Short drive to Dupont, Pisgah Forest, Brevard and Hendersonville.

Basic accommodations, some caveats.

Quiet except when rooster crows 100-ft away down in hollow.

Gravel street just scraped, we had no rain 5-day stay= no problems.

Light and bright by day, 3 bathrooms nice, 2 off hallway main level.

Our party of 7 adults, ages 21-99yrs (2 couples) , brought own cot, more comfy than futon in small toy room used by college student.

Upstairs spacious king bedroom ensuite shower/bath but steep narrow spiral staircase could be problem if not fit.

Liked open floor plan, long deck, cozy covered front porch seating, good water pressure and hot showers, good a/c, plenty daylight.

Cons: 2nd level access steep staircase/wobbly top rail. No privacy blinds/curtains at night, lightbulbs missing, grill pilot light only-regulator not functioning, no ensuite baths on main level.

Quality all around is econo but adequate.

This is 3rd vrbo rental in Brevard area for our group, memorable for caveats repeated by other reviewers as well.

Good rental for minimalist adapters, limitations for older set like us.
