This is a custom built, makeover of a house from the 30s. It took 2 years + of artisan builders- not the "get 'er done" types but artists of design and builders of detail - I wanted it to look like it always was this way - (but,it was not always like this-we were true to the era) - the builder, Bill Schleicher, won the Nashville Preservation award as designer in 2014 - my house was done by him in 2003 and 2004 (and always getting better)
All of the poplar trim was milled in the back yard, the 30 plus pieces of vintage stained glass added 10 years ago, the kitchen cabinets are framed in what was the former living room oak floors, the banisters were the chestnut timbers repurposed from the roof joists, the quilts on beds are handmade by my sis-in-law, and over 130 original pieces of art and furnishings in this house, and on, & on, & on- this has been my home since 2002 - this is NOT a staged space - there is an artful, real soul feel to this home - and we welcome you to it.
You will have access to our 7' 6" kawaii grand piano (please care for it like I do) - from chop sticks to Chopin, viewing access to our 130 plus pieces of art throughout the home, our great balcony deck (north facing out of the southern sun ) with new outdoor couch, 3 chairs & stainless steel gas grill (natural gas...never run out)- and a cook's kitchen -(please request any cookware you may want (outside of provided basics) from cheesecake pans to slow cookers to copper jam pans to Appalachian iron skillets - request it - I probably have it.
*Note - the basement is not available. This is a separate apartment. Everything you see pictured is available to you!
This IS the BEST neighborhood in Nashville! When I bought in 2002, I looked at all areas. This is an old neighborhood, diverse, family and creatives, safe, beautiful streets & homes, dozens of indie restaurants, coffee houses, bars ALL within walking distance. Walk to get groceries Kroger, Bi-Rite, walk to Tuesday's farmer's market and food trucks at Sevier Park, walk to 12South, Vandy, Music Row, Belmont University, Hillsboro Village...all are that close. Of course, in this house, you may not want to leave. Oh, and you can drive your car, too.
Parking is available in the driveway for 2 cars and on the street.
