Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Newly Renovated, With Separate Studio, On The Beach.

Tucked away in a quiet, verdant cul-de-sac you will come upon The White House, a magical waterfront cottage, with spectacular panoramic ocean views overlooking the Strait of Georgia. Savary Island is directly across the water, and the rugged coastal mountains of the BC mainland form a dramatic backdrop.

The White House is an approximately 2,000 sq. ft. cottage with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped chef’s kitchen with gas stove. The cottage is newly renovated with excellent natural light year-round and an open floor plan that takes full advantage of the ocean views. It is decorated with original art and artifacts from around the world.

Dine inside in the spacious, airy dining room, or open the French doors to the large deck, with outdoor, dining table and barbecue, overlooking the ocean. Spend the long summer evenings lazing on the deck, or curl up with a book in the cozy serenity of the sitting room, beside the wood burning stove.

The beautifully appointed master and second bedrooms each comes with a queen bed and a built-in closet. The master ensuite bathroom features a double vanity, bath with shower and a towel heater for warm and dry towels. The second bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a towel heater.

Adjacent to the cottage is a separate studio with bunk beds, providing additional accommodation for up to four people. It has a 2-piece bathroom and a kitchenette. This is an ideal space for kids to hang out.

The cottage is surrounded by a garden with a lawn and fruit trees. There is a vegetable patch where you can pick fresh salad and other veggies for your table.

The ocean at your doorstep teems with life. Bald eagles, great blue herons, seals and sea lions are in residence most of the year. The strait harbours both resident and migratory orcas, whales, dolphins and porpoises. Shallow rock pools are home to countless species of small creatures that provide endless hours of fascination for children young and old. Watch your children explore the beach from the beachside sitting area around the fire pit. If you would like to explore a little further afield, you can launch your kayak or paddle board directly from the beach, or go for a long beachcombing walk. An intrepid angler can cast a line right in front of the cottage.

The White House is situated in the Comox Valley, about 10 minutes’ drive north of Courtenay, in a secluded rural setting. The area provides an abundance of fresh produce from local farms. Available within a few minutes’ drive are fresh berries, vegetables, eggs, award-winning local cheeses and wines, and an assortment of locally raised poultry and meats. There is also a wide selection of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs in the nearby towns of Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland.

The Comox Valley offers many and varied outdoor activities, including golf, cycling, hiking, boating, fishing and skiing. The White House is about a 10 minutes’ walk from the hidden gem of Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens, 7 minutes’ drive from Seal Bay Nature Park and forest, and 15 minutes’ drive from Miracle Beach and Saratoga Beach (both lovely sandy beaches). Mount Washington ski resort, and the adjacent Paradise Meadows trailhead in the vast Strathcona Provincial Park, are a 35 minute drive.

Comox International Airport is a 20 minute drive away.

About Ankia Kriegler

We are a couple with children, who moved to the Comox Valley in 2012.

Ankia Kriegler purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Ankia Kriegler chose Comox Valley

During our second summer in our new waterfront home, the neighbouring property came up for sale. We were already in love with the area and jumped at the chance to participate in sharing a bit of this wonderful rural seaside lifestyle with others.

Hidden gem! this cottage is beautiful with an amazing ocean view.

  • 5 of 5

I would defiantly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a quite relaxing place to enjoy the beach view. The property is excellent for families, it has a large flat lawn for kids to play. The owners are great people who we had a chance to meet. A big thanks to both Ankia and Stefan.

A Perfect Family Experience

  • 5 of 5

Ankia and Stefan were the best of hosts and having them next door made anything we desired only a quick text and was a few minutes away. The house is beautiful and breathes the beach into every moment through a continuous wall of ocean facing windows. The deck extends out 15 feet for the length of the entire house and made for a stunning perch to take in the breathtaking vistas. The children and myself revelled in the creatures around and under the rocks along the shore at low tide.

The four bunk-bed accomodations off the side of the garage, separate from the house made for a great play place for the children and provided our family of six (soon to be seven) ample space to augment our need to relax and reconnect as a family.

Book early as we are quite tempted to book two weeks next year!

The best of everything!

  • 5 of 5

Arriving late our first night, Ankia greeted us cheerfully and quickly showed us around. We where instantly impressed with the cottage and the warm welcome. The gorgeous sunrise awoke us the first day and got us up in time to see the seal on the rocks. Through out the week we came and went as we explored from the best base camp in the province, the Comox Valley. Arising each morning and returning each evening was a treat of relaxation. The ships passing, the tides abb and flow and the sun glistening off the evening water made for such a peaceful experiance. Our best VRBO experiance to date in a location we will return to many times. We could not have hoped for a more delightful home and Stefan and Ankia are the kindest hosts we have ever encountered. Of all the VRBO's out there, this one deserves a return trip!

Quiet, well appointed beach house.

  • 5 of 5

Spacious, light and airy beach home with an amazing ocean view. We spotted flickers, bald eagles and kingfishers along with seals. All we needed for a home away from home provided. Flowers decorated the house and fresh cookies and granola were provided along with fresh seasonal fruit. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family.

Beyond Expectations!!!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this property.

The property is amazing, very spacious and comfortable. The view every morning is spectacular. We saw a ton of wildlife; Seals right out in front of the property, Deer around the neighborhood, a couple of bald eagles and more. The area is quite and peaceful, the view at night was out of this world.

It's a quick drive to town and not to far to Campbell River.

It was beyond what we were expecting and we defiantly plan on returning!
