About Donna Bowles

We have lived all over the country and recently moved to the Big Island from Nashville. We have traveled the world and find Hawaii to be our home of choice. I am managing this property for Bob & Linda Hartman. I am a Realtor on the Big Island with Hawaii Beach and Golf Properties - Donna Bowles RB-21681.

Donna Bowles purchased this hotel in 2015

Why Donna Bowles chose Līhuʻe

We really have a special place in our hearts for Kauai and decided to by a hotel room at the Kauai Beach Resort to share this special place with family and friends.

What makes this hotel unique

We were extremely pleased from the moment we saw the view from our room. We overlook the pools, ocean, mountains and tiki bar. It is a great room for people watching too. We really enjoy being pampered with the beauty of the resort and the great service. If we just want a retreat, they willshuttle you to a shopping center on a schedule. Threstaurant is outstanding with great food, large portions and good prices. We enjoy waking up to turquoise pools, waterfalls and the ocean. We also enjoy lounging by the pool and enjoying the food and beverage service or watching sports around the Tiki bar. The surfing here is great for beginners or those getting back into it. We have enjoyed long walks on the beach, the longest one on the island. The lounge is a great alternative for lighter fares and live entertainment. I found the business center very handy for taking care of faxing, scanning and copying. The convention centers there are great for seminars or company parties. We enjoy the convenience store in the morning for a specialty coffee and a bagel.

incredible value for money - absolutely fell in love

  • 5 of 5

I LOVELOVELOVED this place. Incredible value for money. We were originally interested in St. Regis but it was $500+ per night. So we went the opposite direction and looked for budget stays. Came across this rate and decided to give it a chance. IT IS AMAZING. The room itself was immaculately clean and comfy, beautiful lanai with a view of the pool and the ocean, we could hear the waves breaking on the beach, very comfortable bed and nice clean up to date bathroom. The hotel lobby and restaurants are wonderful, just beautiful with lovely landscaping, stylish decor, very romantic and open air. The pool is awesome with a waterslide, sand pool and traditional pool, and live hawaiian style entertainment a couple nights a week. The pool shave ice bar is a nice touch with good price shave ice for $7-8. The staff were incredibly friendly, including the valet parking which was fast and friendly. We resented paying $25/day at first but came to appreciate the service after long days out hiking etc and the fast friendly service.

I could go on and on about how perfect the place was and especially given the great price. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone and i would definitely stay here next time i visit Kauai. Give it a try! I promise you won't be disappointed.

The resort exceeded expectations

  • 4 of 5

We had a great short stay here on the way to our long term rental up island. One minor issue was that we landed very late, bought microwave dinners at Safeway based on the description of the room having one available. However no microwave in sight so we did not eat supper. Otherwise we had a lovely stop here and would recommend.

Owner's Response: Aloha, I am sorry you misunderstood the description and missed dinner. It states that there is a lounge in building two on the fifth floor, just off the elevator with a microwave in it. We are glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay. Mahalo, Donna Bowles

Excellent property and great staff!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time here. It was a relaxing stay before our departure from the island. Food was a little pricey but was good. It seemed there were a lot of rules to follow posted everywhere. No outside drinks allowed at the pool area but the pool bar was closed the during our time here. It seems to me that if you expect guests to respect the no outside drinks rule then you should have the bar open. That was my only complaint really. Otherwise a very good place to stay. It has almost everything you would need.

Great location

  • 3 of 5

We live on island and booked a 2 day staycay. This is great resort with enough pools/ jacuzzi's and a fun slide for kids and adults. Not too busy either what is nice. This room is in building 5, closest to the beach side and overlooks a pool and part ocean. What we noticed right away when we walked in the room, is a distinctive mold smell. Mold is common on this island, especially being so close to the water and ventilating and/or using a dehumidifier is absolutely essential for anybody who stays in this room. All our clothes smelled moldy after we left. I hope the owner will address this and finds a solution asap. We also suggest that the coffee area gets better stocked. A little bit more TLC and these problems can be solved.

Owner's Response: Aloha, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay there. We have had quite a bit of rain, which can add to the humidity and perhaps the slider was left open quite a bit. I have rarely had that complaint, but will address it with the maintenance team. The coffee is stocked initially, but not restocked unless you have housekeeping service. If you book directly with the resort you can get daily refills with housekeeping, but you will pay quite a bit more per night. We go to Walmart or bring extra and filters. We have two other rooms, so please keep us in mind for the future. Mahalo, Donna Bowles

Just 10 minutes north of the resort is Wailua and Kapaa. Here you can enjoy river paddling tours, snorkel tours, waterfalls, dining, shopping, hiking, golfing and many more activities. On the North side of the island is Hanalei Bay, where they filmed The South Pacific. Here we enjoyed paddling the river, which flows into the ocean, taking in all of the wild life along the way. This is also where we discovered the Kalypso Island Bar & Grill. The lounge at Princeville Hotel is a breathtaking stop to enjoy a beverage overlooking all of Hanalei Bay. Just 10 minutes south of our place is Kalapaki Joe's Sport’s Bar & Grill and Gingbua Tai restaurant at the Harbor Mall. One of our regular stops for lunch is Keoki's Paradise Grill, in the Poipu Shopping Center. It offers a nice open air experience. I also recommend going early in the morning to Waimea Canyon, before the clouds roll in and view the island of Ni’ihau. On our last trip we toured the Koloa Rum Store located at the historic Kilohana Plantation, one mile South of Lihue, between 22 North Restaurant and the Kaua’i Plantation Railway. They have samples of their rum made on Kauai. It was a fun experience. If you are a golfer, Wailua Municipal Golf Course is next door (reasonable, but always packed). The Kauai Lagoon Golf Course at the Marriott is 5 minutes away and is one of our favorites. The Puakea Golf Course is 10 minutes away, another favorite. The Kiahuna Golf Course is 20 minutes away in Poipu as well as the Poipu Golf Course (which is very nice, but more expensive). The Princeville Makai and Prince Course at Princeville, are two of the most spectacular golf courses in all of the world and just 40 minutes north and there are more. There are over 40 white sand beaches to explore on this garden isle. We highly recommend the Holo Holo Catamaran trip to Nihehau.
