About Greg Trapp

Our kids are grown and gone so we were looking for that special place that would entice them to return. When we stepped into unit 12 at San Miguel the clouds parted and the angels sang. This condo sits in the perfect spot- sweeping ocean and pier views, you can even see the beach between the lower units. It's quiet because it's up high and away from the train and the busy streets. The skylight and the extra windows of an end unit make it bright throughout.

Because we own other rental property and years of vacationing with dogs and children we knew exactly what we wanted for our beach home: Along with being beautiful, comfortable and tranquil it must also be well stocked with everything you need to be partake of all the area has to offer- whether you are one person on a private retreat or a family of four with the dog on a beach adventure. There is so much to see and do in this area do not forget to slow down and just relax. Enjoy a full day out swimming, surfing or biking then return home for a quiet evening soaking in the hot tub or relaxing on the couch watching the pelicans soaring along. Thursday night's Sunset Market is a great place to get dinner when you are tired after a long day of exploring.

Please share your comments and ideas in the VRBO reviews so that we can make our southern California beach home perfect for you. We hope that you will return year after year. - Greg and Jana

What makes this condo unique

The ocean is close enough that at night, with the windows open, you can sleep to the sound of waves crashing every night.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Greg and Jana,

I rented your condo and wanted to provide you with some very positive and GRATEFUL experiences I had this summer. My reason for renting a space in Oceanside is probably somewhat different than your average "renter", as I was working …I am always in search of quiet, clean, peaceful surroundings that are a welcome "home" spot after some very mentally taxing days. YOUR HOME IS AN ABSOLUTE TREASURE!!! First of all, let me commend you on how beautiful, clean and absolutely perfectly stocked everything is. Really, you have thought of everything one could ever need or want! Then, of course, there is this magnificent view that I spent soaking in every living moment that I was away from work. I was in Oceanside for work…but I actually received a breath-taking break and mini vacation. There was many mornings that I hated to leave my coffee on the terrace to report to work. Then there was my return home, in the evenings, where I usually took a stroll along the beach to wash away the day's mental activity and could meditate upon the glorious sunsets- day after day…

Although your home can definitely accommodate a family, for the most part it was usually just me- although I had several weekend visitors once even my 12 year old God-daughter who I would be remiss in not mentioning as she has already requested that I rent the same place next summer!

So, I just wanted to really take the time to share my lovely summer experience. Your beautiful place truly touched my heart and soul as I was lulled to sleep and awoken by the ocean every day. I hope that you know that you have purchased a gem and I also hope that I can re-visit again in the near future.

With Very Warm Regards and Thanks,

We had a great time at this Beach Condo. Loved being able to walk to the beach everyday, also close walking distance to lots of great restaurants and the pier. The condo is clean and cute and the view is absolutely stunning!

Sunsets & Beach

  • 5 of 5

This was the best property we have stayed at in the last 10 years. The condo has fantastic views and the furniture was very comfortable, especially the beds. The condo had everything we needed. We spent every evening watching the sunset over the ocean with a glass of wine. We walked everywhere as there are many restaurants and bars close by. We enjoyed great golf at La Costa, The Crossings, Arrowood and the Pendleton Marine base. All excellent golf courses. We look forward to returning to Oceanside next year and hope to stay at Greg's condo.

Fabulous View

  • 5 of 5

There's nothing better than having a 180 degree panoramic view of the ocean, and this place has got it! We spent countless hours watching surfers and bathers, people walking on the pier and on The Strand, and unbelievable sunsets.

The condo is nicely laid out and very comfortable. Greg, the owner, and Becky, the property manager, keep the place very well stocked. Everything we needed was there!

Location is wonderful. You can walk to everything...the harbor, the pier, into town (farmer's market, train station, restaurants).

We really enjoyed our two months here. They flew by. We'll be back!

Wonderful month in a beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at your condo. Becky Maldonado (the property manager) was a delight to deal with. We had a few initial issues that needed to be attended to when we arrived but Becky looked after them quickly and efficiently. The view from the condo over the ocean and the pier was stunning and we enjoyed every minute of it. My wife loved the sound of the surf crashing against the shore and it lulled her to sleep at night. The condo was nicely furnished and decently equipped for cooking. We especially liked the 2 very large TV's (one in the living room and one in the master bedroom) which allowed my wife and I to view our favorite programs without having to fight over one TV!! The San Miguel II complex where the condo is located is very nice and well kept and in a terrific location close to several very nice restaurants and to the downtown area. We loved that we could walk to the pier and to the Thursday morning and Thursday evening markets. The only negatives we found were 1) the hot tubs in the complex weren't very hot (one was cold and the other luke warm); 2) the train tracks were only a block away and the commuter trains had to blow their horns everytime they came through (which was quite often and quite late in the night and again early in the morning). However, we absolutely had a great time and hated to leave!

Owner's Response: Al - Sorry to hear about the hot tub temperature, I will pass that information along to the HOA. I heard at the last HOA meeting that they were working on the heater of one of the hot tubs, it may be related. The trains travel up and down the coast and do sound their horns when passing through the coastal towns, some people sleep right through, others get use to it after a couple of nights and for others it can bother them at different times. We have sometimes turned on some soft music at night to soften the sound, until we get use to it again. We're glad you enjoyed the Thursday activities and the walk along the beach to the restaurants and the pier. We hope to see you again. Greg and Jana

Fabulous Place!

  • 5 of 5

This place is incredible! I stayed the entire month of January, sometimes with my husband, sometimes with my aunt. When I was there alone, I never worried about my safety. It is a gated community with underground gated parking garage. The parking garage had 2 spaces (and a lower garage with visitor spaces), so when my daughters came to visit, there was a place for them to park.

It was very quiet. I rarely saw anyone about--maybe because January is not a busy month. It was close enough to walk anywhere---restaurants, microbreweries, the pier, and the Thursday night street market.

The place was very clean, all the furniture looked fairly new, and the beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in. It is also well stocked with anything you could want for a month's stay. It has a washer/dryer and that was important to me since I was staying a month. The internet worked well, and there was DISH with a DVR as well. The best part was sitting on the balcony with my morning coffee (made from the Keurig they have) watching the surfers in the ocean and joggers on the strand. I walked along the beach every morning which is right down the stairs, and used the hot tub a few times.

The pictures don't really do this place justice. It's even better in person. The view is amazing!

It's 45 minutes from Orange County Airport and even closer to San Diego airport. Becky, that manages it, is very helpful and easy to work with. I hesitate to let everyone know just how great this place is because I want to rent it again and want it to be available. :) If you want a worry-free vacation, this is the place!

Perfect Spot!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here during the week of Thanksgiving and could not have picked a better spot. The apartment was conveniently located and within an hour of the San Diego airport. Once we got there everything was within walking distance. They are a 5 minute walk to both business districts, and directly across the street from the ocean. It was a 1 minute walk to the sand. Oceanside has a thriving restaurant and bar scene. Not to mention the Stone Brewery Tasting Room! We didn't run out of options all week. Also, there is nothing better than waking up every morning with that view! Not to mention the apartment complex has a hot tub. The apartment was clean and spacious and had everything we needed, even an in unit washer and dryer. I would recommend this to anyone!
