Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
We stayed late September/early October for a week. House was as appeared in the photos. It was a real family vacation home, comfortable and lived in, including some of the owner's original art work. There were also books, games, etc. which would also be good for children. We loved the location - only two other houses on the small point it was on and you couldn't see them - just lovey views of the bay/river. The "island" is connected to the mainland by two small bridges; Maine Botanical Garden is only a mile away and Boothbay Harbor only about 5-10 minutes. We loved the quiet of the home and island. And, it was easy to take day trips to Brunswick, Rockland, Wiscasset for museums, bookstores, restaurants, etc.. House was more than fully equipped but they could wean out some of the excess kitchen items.
We both are looking forward to returning!
We traveled there with friends for a wedding, the house was dirty when we arrived, dust everywhere and hair still in the tub. All the mattresses are extremely old and creak every time getting in and out. This made it super frustrating because it woke our baby up every time we got into bed for the night. Also, the upstairs bedroom doors are old, warped, and painted over too many times, and you can't close them all the way. Again, frustrating when you have a sleeping baby in a room that you can't close the door too. It was a great location, but the owner needs to make some updates for it to be worth the money we paid to stay there.
the pictures on the homepage of vacasa promise too much. the reality is disappointing and not worth the price under any circumstances. we can not recommand this property.
The area is beautiful and the home is nice. Furnishings are dated but appropriate for the setting. There is only one bathroom so knowing this going in if you're sharing with another couple is important. Over all everyone had a great time and would do it again.
