This spectacular vacation compound on Lake Travis can accommodate groups of families or friends. Two authentic 1850's log cabins offer private bedrooms while a huge timber-frame building provides central living, dining and a gourmet kitchen designed for multiple cooks, all with lake views.
The 3 historic buildings that make up Moriah have been meticulously restored into a private retreat in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Moriah has been featured in the Austin American Statesman, Country Home Magazine and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

In 2000 we (two sisters and our families) purchased this property to accommodate our large family gatherings. We had been frustrated over the years with the facilities we had found to accommodate our vacations together. In designing Moriah, we took the best features of the various places we had visited to create a compound specifically for several families to vacation together with ease.
Shortly after we bought Moriah, another sister (one of six sisters, and, yes, we have one brother) bought the adjacent property. Now, between the two properties, there is room for us all to be comfortable even when all 28 show up.
Nancy Anderson purchased this house in 2000
We chose this location because there are activities for people of all ages. Volleyball, ping pong, swimming, boating, walking in the country, sitting on the porch - no one is ever bored. Located just one hour from Austin, it is easy to get away even for just a weekend.
We love the fact that the bedrooms are in separate buildings so that those who are sleeping aren’t disturbed by the people who are awake - no matter how boisterous they become. The kitchen, optimized for multiple cooks offers two sinks, two dishwashers and two refrigerators. A refrigerator for drinks is located at one of two entries to the kitchen so that the cooks aren’t disrupted every time someone comes to the kitchen for a drink.
Wow...what a wonderful place to spend the 4th of July with our family. Moriah was everything we hoped for and more!! This place is amazing and we cannot wait to return. Moriah is as close to heaven as it gets.
Our family had a great time! We get together every two years and this property provided variety for many ages. Thank you!
Moriah was amazing. Impeccably clean. High quality furnishings, and exploding with character and charm. So much to do. Huge fire pit with wood provided. Ping pong, washers, slack line, boat dock, grill (propane provided), games, puzzles...we utilized it all and the kids were never bored. The kitchen was very well furnished with a comprehensive collection of dishes, utensils, gadgets, appliances and cookware. But most of all the setting. Gorgeous trees, river view, landscaping. This place has it all. Would absolutely return and would highly highly recommend this beautiful venue!
Our knitting group has been staying at Moriah twice a year for the last 10 years. We continue to come back time after time not only because of the location and uniqueness but because the Owners are responsive. They truly value our feedback and continuously improve the grounds and interior of the cabins. We LOVE Moriah and will keep coming back as long as they will have us.
This place is so much more beautiful than the pictures can portray. It was a wonderful weekend and the kids loved being able to swim off floating dock. Loved it! Thank you -
We had a family reunion and everyone was enthralled with the whole property. From the cabins with etched tiles in the bathrooms, the "Big House" with the gourmet kitchen, the washer pits, the foosball table in the loft, to the large yard to where all the kids played, the multiple sitting areas, and fishing and swimming off the dock. We arrived Friday afternoon to explore the interior and admire the furnishings of the place. Many admired the fixtures, decorations, and wood work all around. Friday evening a thunderstorm with lots of rain and some hail popped up and watching and listening to it on the tin covered porch was pretty amazing. We had the property "Farr Side" next door too, so we had plenty of room to spread out. Kids played pool and volleyball there too. Some front porch sittin was done her as well as back porch rocking- chairs are very comfy. Moriah is a very unique place and well taken care of. Place was very clean , AC works great, nice gas grill to cook outside, and many great memories were made here. Thank you Nancy for having such an amazing place for us to stay.
I cannot imagine giving this oasis anything less than 5+!! I just returned from a weekend there for a class reunion and I thought the entire grounds, cottages, and great room were a work of art inside and out. The cottages were so restful and welcoming....great beds, so comfortable. Every cabin has it's own personality, but each give off the allure of love and care. The great room is furnished with wonderful sofas, easy chairs, long long dining tables, in the room and out on the porch, for eating or conversing. A well equipped kitchen for a culinary feast. Oh, I almost forgot....all of this is waterfront to the upper end of Beautiful Lake Travis! A wonderful retreat, giving homage to our Texas tradition of Big and Beautiful! Can't wait to go back.
Located on 3 acres of secluded waterfront, Moriah is only 10 minutes from Marble Falls which offers restaurants, golf, movie theaters, antiques, live theater and great shopping.
