About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 6 Baths, (Sleeps 12-16)

This spectacular vacation compound on Lake Travis can accommodate groups of families or friends. Two authentic 1850's log cabins offer private bedrooms while a huge timber-frame building provides central living, dining and a gourmet kitchen designed for multiple cooks, all with lake views.

The 3 historic buildings that make up Moriah have been meticulously restored into a private retreat in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Moriah has been featured in the Austin American Statesman, Country Home Magazine and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

About The Owner

In 2000 we (two sisters and our families) purchased this property to accommodate our large family gatherings. We had been frustrated over the years with the facilities we had found to accommodate our vacations together. In designing Moriah, we took the best features of the various places we had visited to create a compound specifically for several families to vacation together with ease.

Shortly after we bought Moriah, another sister (one of six sisters, and, yes, we have one brother) bought the adjacent property. Now, between the two properties, there is room for us all to be comfortable even when all 28 show up.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Why The Owner chose Lake Marble Falls

We chose this location because there are activities for people of all ages. Volleyball, ping pong, swimming, boating, walking in the country, sitting on the porch - no one is ever bored. Located just one hour from Austin, it is easy to get away even for just a weekend.

What makes this house unique

We love the fact that the bedrooms are in separate buildings so that those who are sleeping aren’t disturbed by the people who are awake - no matter how boisterous they become. The kitchen, optimized for multiple cooks offers two sinks, two dishwashers and two refrigerators. A refrigerator for drinks is located at one of two entries to the kitchen so that the cooks aren’t disrupted every time someone comes to the kitchen for a drink.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow...what a wonderful place to spend the 4th of July with our family. Moriah was everything we hoped for and more!! This place is amazing and we cannot wait to return. Moriah is as close to heaven as it gets.

Relaxing June weekend

  • 5 of 5

This place is so much more beautiful than the pictures can portray. It was a wonderful weekend and the kids loved being able to swim off floating dock. Loved it! Thank you -

Beautiful and Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion and everyone was enthralled with the whole property. From the cabins with etched tiles in the bathrooms, the "Big House" with the gourmet kitchen, the washer pits, the foosball table in the loft, to the large yard to where all the kids played, the multiple sitting areas, and fishing and swimming off the dock. We arrived Friday afternoon to explore the interior and admire the furnishings of the place. Many admired the fixtures, decorations, and wood work all around. Friday evening a thunderstorm with lots of rain and some hail popped up and watching and listening to it on the tin covered porch was pretty amazing. We had the property "Farr Side" next door too, so we had plenty of room to spread out. Kids played pool and volleyball there too. Some front porch sittin was done her as well as back porch rocking- chairs are very comfy. Moriah is a very unique place and well taken care of. Place was very clean , AC works great, nice gas grill to cook outside, and many great memories were made here. Thank you Nancy for having such an amazing place for us to stay.

Perfect! Peaceful! Beautiful! Heaven.

  • 5 of 5

I cannot imagine giving this oasis anything less than 5+!! I just returned from a weekend there for a class reunion and I thought the entire grounds, cottages, and great room were a work of art inside and out. The cottages were so restful and welcoming....great beds, so comfortable. Every cabin has it's own personality, but each give off the allure of love and care. The great room is furnished with wonderful sofas, easy chairs, long long dining tables, in the room and out on the porch, for eating or conversing. A well equipped kitchen for a culinary feast. Oh, I almost forgot....all of this is waterfront to the upper end of Beautiful Lake Travis! A wonderful retreat, giving homage to our Texas tradition of Big and Beautiful! Can't wait to go back.

Perfect group getaway spot!

  • 5 of 5

We chose Moriah for a reunion of old college friends who now all have small kids. It was the perfect location for kids to run around, learn to fish, play games, make s'mores in the fire pit while us adults appreciated the comfortable beds, large kitchens and separate spaces for hanging out after the kids went to bed. We look forward to going back again soon!

Excellent Property for Family & Friend Gatherings

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you walk up the property, you're instantly in love! The two sleeping cabins are cozy and great for large groups (and having four full size bathrooms is very convienent).

The main house is amazing!!! Beautiful decor, a full gourmet kitchen, seating for 20, a loft upstairs with games, two bathrooms and a spacious back porch. We hosted a New Year's Eve gathering for family and friends and it turned out perfect.

One note: the property is quite dark at night, so we went to the local Home Depot and bought 10 tiki torches to place around the property for additional light. Worked well and only cost around $30.

Overall, I would reccomend this property for anyone looking for an escape from the city and a place to spend quality time with family.

Thank you Susan and Nancy for all your help!

9 girls pull up to Moriah, the land, the house, the cabins.......literally breathtaking! Our hearts were actually pounding, we couldn't believe that this was going to be our home for 4 days. It was perfect! We WILL be returning to Moriah! Nothing but smiles and laughs!
