3BR / 2BA with Deep Water Dock
Boathouse converted into a private and modern retreat on the Bagaduce, with a shared deep water dock. This summer (2018), we are adding wifi.
Upstairs, enter a spacious great room with a wall of windows overlooking the water. Warm your toes in front of the wood stove, relaxing in the two midcentury modern chairs, the leather chaise or futon. Enjoy a meal at the adjacent dining table, which comfortably seats 6-8 people. The kitchen is fully outfitted with an oven, refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher and microwave.
Climb a set of ship stairs to access the queen bed in the full-height loft and wake to amazing sunrise views of the water!
The ground floor features two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other with a pair of twin beds), a cozy family room, full bath, and laundry room. All beds are outfitted with high thread count sheets, down comforters and cotton quilts.
The front patio overlooks the Bagaduce River towards Castine. Meander down the hill through lupines to reach the rocky shore and deep water dock.
Things to do:
- Rent canoes or kayaks and paddle from the dock to see the seals.
- Take a 5 minute boat ride to dine at the James Beard award winner Bagaduce Lunch
- Cycle thru beautiful country roads
- Pick raspberries (July) and blackberries (August) on the property
- Take sailing lessons at one of the local yacht clubs which are open to non-members

About Tom & Z
We live in northern California, but Tom grew up in Orono, Maine. His accent returns whenever we are Down East.
Tom & Z purchased this House in 2006
Why Tom & Z chose Brooksville
We love being able to come here and escape from the everyday. We turn the screens off and entertain ourselves building fairy houses (see if you can find them), playing board games and searching the tide pools for sea stars.

Beautiful area, beautiful home. Incredibly peaceful. We couldn't have been more pleased with the house. It's airy, bright, minimal yet very inviting. The property is a stunner, nestled in woods with terrific views from the house, the comfortable outdoor patio, or down a steep hill to the long dock. My husband and I have fallen in love with the peninsula, and particularly enjoyed staying in Brooksville this visit. In addition to fabulous hiking opportunities all around the area, the kayaking was a real treat. We put in at the town landing (less than 5 min away) from which we explored lovely Smith Cove into Penobscot Bay -- gorgeous views of Castine, osprey, bald eagle and many seals - and up the Bagaduce. TinderHearth, with some of the best bread we've ever had and their rather magical pizza nights, is a short drive down the road. We found the location quite convenient to larger Blue Hill with its library, Tradewinds supermarket, lovely wine shop and the chamber music festival at Kniesel Hall. The house has no wi-fi and no television (it's only for DVDs), so it really is a wonderful opportunity to truly relax. Everything with the house went smoothly. Couldn't have been better.
Thank you for the lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you'll come again!
Happy family in a quiet location with a beautiful scandi touch
The house is a great place for a family to stay. The interior has a Scandinavian style with
light woods and some mid-century-style furniture. Everything was working as it should.
The kids made the mezzanine their kingdom where not adults were allowed.
The host was very responsive, always replying immediately to our questions.
The location is quiet and away.
The only thing we never got fully to work has nothing to do with the house: We only
got information across, once we bypassed the VRBO website and apps and switched
to ordinary email.
Thank you for your review -- glad to hear that your kids made the most of the loft!
Beautiful and well-maintained
Situated with a view of the river in a quiet, peaceful setting. Comfortable accommodations for the four of us and stocked with everything one needs. Owners quick to respond and very helpful. Somewhat remote though small villages are nearby and a fabulous bakery is 5 minutes down the road, as Is the Bagaduce Lunch with fantastic lobster rolls.Takes about 45-50 minutes to get to Acadia National Park. We enjoyed the serenity and the uncrowded winding roads and looked forward to "Happy Hour" every evening in our home-away-from home.
Thank you for the lovely review - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Unforgettable stay in a beautiful waterfront house
We really enjoyed our family vacation in Maine in this home. The house is bright, cosy, charming and well equipped. The pontoon is fantastic, offering a wonderful view on the ocean and a direct access to the shore. Girls enjoyed crab fishing at low tide. The location is great, not too far from the Acadia National Park. We find everything needed in the kitchen to cook delicious lobsters. The small harbors all around the place are charming. Thank you Tom and Zelina for welcoming us, we really felt at home in your house and greatly appreciated the equipment, towels, dish washer, washing machine and dryer made available to us. We can only recommend to those reading these lines to quickly book the house. I would love coming back myself. The Nicolas Family from France!
Relaxing getaway in a lovely home with breathtaking views!
We thoroughly enjoyed our family getaway at this home! Tom and Zerlina were incredibly helpful leading up to our trip and had a binder filled with suggestions for activities around the area. The home is absolutely beautiful, with great quality amenities (sheets, towels, shampoo, etc) that gave it a luxurious charm.
The river is right beside the house, and we spent hours on the dock fishing and doing yoga-- the view was breathtaking.
Note that the house is a bit far from away from everything, which makes it great for a getaway, but less idle if you are planning to explore the main(E) attractions.
