Comfortable and laid back
This place is a gem. It seems so far away from the maddening crowd of Rehoboth Beach. The house is located right along the canal, and my grandson, who loves to fish, caught several different kinds of fish while he was there. He even caught a flounder! I wanted us to cook it but he insisted on throwing it back in. He caught "stripers" (don't know what they are, but they were big, maybe 14 inches) and he also caught what truly looked like a baby sea monster. It looked prehistoric. We were all so excited. Of course, my grandson threw it back in but he had to be so careful, because it had big teeth! And crazy fins. As for the house itself, it has plenty of room and is very comfortable. The air conditioning really works! The temperature was always so comfortable. One of the best things about this house is that when you arrive there, you will not feel like you have to clean it before you stay there, as I have found so many rentals on the Delaware beaches did. The cleaning people here do a fine job. The owner of this property is very easy to work with, and he really wants you to enjoy your stay at his rental property. There is a nice big yard around the home, so if you have a pet, you have a nice yard to walk it around in. There is a back screened in porch where my husband and I spent many hours, just looking at the water birds, and watching all the canal traffic. You see everything go by on that canal! By the way, there was a bald eagle in a tree near the canal and quite visible from the back screened in porch. I still get a thrill seeing a bald eagle. This visit this year was a return visit. When I asked my grandkids where they wanted to go this year they all said, "Back to the place on Holly Road!" So, of course, that is where we went. There are five bedrooms. The master suite is so comfortable and large. We could see the canal and all the boats from our room, and we had our own bathroom. But the room itself was big, and we found ourselves surrounded by our grandkids, all trying to fit on our king sized bed in the late evenings, to watch tv with us or just talk about the day. Also, sometimes it was just nice to retreat to our suite, and just close the door and have some privacy. We love this place.
Wonderful old style north shores home
The view is amazing & the house is very comfortable. Our 2nd year renting. Owner says easy to work with & accommodating .
we had a wonderful time!
Situated on a fabulous lot bordered by canals on 2 sides. House is comfortable.
Lovely location, but the house needs work; the place was flooded at one time or another; you could see foot-high water marks on the walls. It would have been nice to know that fact since one of my visitors is allergic to mold; medicine cabs. in the bathrooms rusted out; spent the first week battling ants and water bugs in the kitchen and camelback crickets in the hallway; no exterior lighting when I had to take the dog out at night in very dark cul-de-sac. Beds were comfortable, back porch is the biggest asset; new washer/dryer, plenty of paper products provided and landlord was responsive. Overpriced. I would not rent this house again.
Thank you for the feedback.
Quiet and Close Charmer
Charming two story (5 bedrooms, 10 beds, 3 baths) located at the intersection of Lewes-Rehoboth canal and channel to North Shore boat basin. Not fancy but very adequate for older adults and families with young children (we had 8 adults and 1 eight year old). Screened back porch looks across canal at beautiful marsh with blue and white heron feeding at edge. Well located for us. Half mile to the beach and Club swimming pool. One and one-half mile to downtown Rehoboth. Had both quiet and a short trip to restaurants, shops, and services.
Charming, older property with lots of room
My family of eight found this house a roomy and comfortable place to stay. The owner of the property was extremely easy to work with, and actually very helpful. I have stayed many different summers for a week, in a 'beach house'. I have never stayed in any place that was as clean as this. This was the first house that I have rented that I didn't have to "clean" at least somewhat before my family could stay there. There were so many little extras like lots of pillows and blankets, paper towels, and toilet paper. The place was just stocked. I had looked at the pictures of the back screened in porch on the add, but it is even nicer than it looks. Yes, it is an older property, and there is some wear and tear. I'm, just saying we are very fussy about some things, but this place we just all enjoyed. The Rehoboth==Lewes Canal runs right by the property. My grandson spent a lot of his time fishing in the canal. He caught little fish, medium fish, and a huge fish! He said if he had had a bigger hook he could have caught giant fish. So, if you like fishing, you can walk out back and throw your line in, right from the yard. It is relaxing watching all the boats that go by. Also, it was a very quiet neighborhood and the property seems to set back from the road, and makes it seem very private. If you walk to the beach of pool, it is .4 tenths of a mile to walk, one way. You can drive because you will have a parking permit that allows you to park right by the pool which is right by the entrance to the beach.Dogs are allowed at this property and there is a great yard all around the house to walk your dog in. If you're okay without all the glamour and glitz of something new, you'll like this place.
