2 Bedrooms 1 Bath Sleeps 5 (10 if loft is rented, see note below for add fee)
Off the beaten trail, this cabin rests within the Tonto National Forest 15 miles east of Payson Arizona off of AZ-260 at Control Road in Tonto Village (near Khols Ranch). Tonto Village is within the Tonto National forest, situated within the forest you are right in the heart of relaxation. With the backyard is the national forest, there are plenty of outdoor activities however escaping the high temperatures of the Phoenix Valley in the summer time is often the best quality. This region is generally 20-40 degrees cooler than the valley; July 4th 2015 we had 60 degrees! In the winter there's normally a good amount of snow as well. On the days it does get warm, there is A/C for your comfort. For those cool nights there is an air-tight fireplace as well as electric forced-air heat. Each bedroom also has separate heating units.
We have cornhole and fishing poles in the second bedroom for your use as well.
The first floor offers a master bedroom with a king bed, the second bedroom has 2 bunkbeds with one of them a double bottom. The kitchen is very adequate with stove, refrigerator, oven, toaster-oven and microwave. A relaxing living room complete with video games, WiFi internet and BluRay player connected to a flat screen TV with DishTV. The backyard has a fire pit for those relaxing evenings however always check for fire restrictions prior to starting a campfire in the forest. There are so many hiking and quad riding trails and we're also horse friendly.
It's only a short walk to the local bar & restaurant with a small store attached to it (The Double-D). Here you will find a variety of people and necessities for sale.
There is a loft with 2 king beds and a single bed for additional fee of $25/person/night. The loft is not accessible without fee and sleeping bags are required as my cleaning person has difficulty reaching the loft via the ladder stairs.
Discount for 7 night stay.d.

Why Mark V. Owner/Manager chose Payson
Tonto Village is a mile into the forest, the cabin is on the forest line with the backyard ending where the forest begins. We searched the entire state of Arizona and settled on this location due to the tall pines, cool temperature about 30 degrees or more cooler than the phoenix valley. Plenty of wildlife adds for our photography hobby of snapping pictures of Elk, bear, coyote, javalena, eagles, and other sorts of forest life. The trails are superior and go for many miles making quad riding and horse riding a great plus. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in the is it.

Good cabin for family or guys' trip
The property is as advertised. Area is good for hunting/fishing and most other outdoor activities. The cabin is a nice get away with some of the nicer "basics" such as tv/internet, climate control, and various electronics. The neighbor did not come to check on us or show us the dumpster as there looked like there were a few in the neighborhood, but we just packed our garbage out. Water pressure was a little low, but got the job done. Everyone, including myself, agreed we should go back again, but for a longer trip.
As a hunting cabin for the guys, probably fine.
First impression - the front porch had to be swept of dust and cobwebs before we could use it. We did not feel safe using the propane BBQ because it was so crusted over with dirt and food residue. The inside of the cabin was relatively clean, but very cluttered. I know the family who owns the cabin indicated they also use it so they have personal items in there, but I think these personal items should probably be stored away. We didn't feel we could use the oven, because it also wasn't clean. We had bath towels, but no wash cloths. The owner was very prompt in returning our damage deposit, and that was much appreciated. I would not rent this place again. But as mentioned, it would probably be fine for hunters, but not four women who probably have higher standards in the cleanliness dept. :)
Nice getaway from the heat!
The pictures give an impression that this "cabin" is secluded out in the woods, it is not, but that's not a problem. It is located in a residential neighborhood, but does back up to the woods where you often see elk grazing, & you can ride your dirt bikes, ATVs all the way to the top of the mountain! There is an arcade style Galaga, Ms. Pacman video game, but make sure you take a lot of quarters as this is another source of revenue... & if you plan to beat my Galaga high score! There was a local caretaker who turns on the hot water heater, & can tend to any problems if needed. Overall, it was a nice getaway for my family & we would go back!
Relaxing and great location. I got engaged here!
My favorite aspect about this property is its location: right in the middle between the city of Payson and great hiking on the Rim. The backyard also opens up to the forest, so the view from the master bedroom is just amazing. Mark, the owner, was very friendly and provided very clear instructions on how to get there, necessities, etc. The cabin is also very dog friendly with the hardwood floors being covered by rugs, and the carpet being very low-pile. There isn't a fenced yard, but well-behaved dogs will love sniffing around, like mine did.
This place will also always be special to us because on this trip my boyfriend and I got engaged! Thank you Mark and your cabin for being a part of one of our happiest memories.
Wow, congratulations! If I knew that was going going to happen I would have layed out some rose petals or something. Wish you two a lifetime of happiness and proud to be a part of your engagement.
And thanks for being great renters!
Beautiful and relaxing
Great property . Wished we owned it ourselves. Great neighbors. Thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality .
While literally in the Tonto National Forest we're less than 20 miles from the Town of Payson where everything from Walmart to Hospital and Casino is available. There's plenty of stream and small lake fishing nearby in any direction. There's ample restaurants in Payson, Christopher Creek or within walking distance of the cabin.
