About Betsy Nicholson

We moved up to Cashiers when our daughter was not quite 1 year old and have lived here ever since. I moved up to Cashiers when I was 18 years old from Miami, Florida, and never went back. I fell in love with this place. So beautiful and peaceful.

Betsy Nicholson purchased this house in 1981

Why Betsy Nicholson chose Highlands

We bought this property because of the acreage and location. We have remodeled the main house and it looks nothing like it did when we bought it. The guest house was built by my sister who decided to move back to Florida. We purchased the house back from her and now have decided to rent it during the summer season.

What makes this house unique

This house is very secluded from our neighbors and we can sit on the porch every morning with our coffee and not be disturbed. Love the quiet and peacefulness and all the flowers that bloom in the Spring and Summer. Can't beat the temperature here either. It does not get very hot up here in the Mountains.

We enjoyed a short, one-night stay at Nicholson cottage - loved the homey, welcoming atmosphere.

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Nicholson cottage was enjoyable, even though it was a short one. We were in the area for a family wedding and it was nice to stay in a home with room to move around. Everything you might need was there for your use - including an ironing board and iron. Wish we had more time to spend on the deck and surrounding area. Thank you Betsie for allowing us to share your home. Hopefully we we will be back soon.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The home was very clean with a functional layout that worked very well for us. We did not use the second bedroom but good to know that it was available if ever needed. We appreciated being able to store our bicycles inside below the home. Having both Betsy and Arnold close by was a comfort even though we hardly ever saw them.

A slice of heaven in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely loved my time in this cabin! It is a peaceful spot that is beautifully decorated and outfitted with so many things that made my stay so easy and stress free (hairdryer, fully functioning kitchen, wifi and tv access if you want it, lovely deck out back). It is located minutes from both downtown Cashiers and Highlands, which gave me options of things to do. I will definitely return!

A Little Slice of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Nicholson Cottage. Betsy was easy to communicate with and checking in was a snap! The cottage was clean, spacious, light filled, and comfortable. It had a nice deck off the living area with lovely views, but sadly we were not able to enjoy it because it was quite cold during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we slept like babies each night! So nice having a washer and dryer. We enjoyed the solitude and quiet and would not hesitate to rent from Betsy again. Thank you Betsy for your hospitality. Mike and Susan Dallas, Texas

Perfect for us.

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for us, visiting family in the area. It's bright, tidy and well appointed, with a floor plan that makes sense. The view is terrific as well. I recommend this to people traveling with or without children. It's great for parents of children of any age, as well as older people.
