Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 4-6

Monthly rates only, 30 days minimum and priced accordingly.

Perfectly situated, my E Street abode is ideally located, South-facing and a 5-10 minute walk to downtown restaurants and the Arkansas River. Relax into this super sweet home with views in a quiet neighborhood, close to all the things that make Salida great.

Amenities include 2 full bathrooms, deep soaking tubs, artisan accents, fully accessorized and roomy kitchen with large appliances, Smart TV with Netflix subscription, HDMI cable for your toys, pets considered, charcoal grill (barring fire restrictions), fully fenced and private property (rare for downtown!) with two gorgeous patios, trees, a very warm, welcoming, artistic feel. Sleeps 4 comfortably in Queen beds (2 bedrooms) and 2 more on a super convenient, inflatable mattress (plug-in to fill).

Everything is considered, allowing your stay to be comfortable and easy! Coffee maker, blender, toaster and all cooking, baking and serve ware in house. Initial paper and soap products provided for your convenience upon arrival, then you're on your own. There are plastic dishes for the kids, teas, bamboo towels, linens and some trash bags. WiFi is provided.

The home is located within a minute's walk to Salida's awesome, Saturday Farmer's Market in Alpine Park, where you can mingle and enjoy breakfast, observe colorful Salida personalities on a Saturday morning or just sit on the grass listening to music. Always a good time. Don't forget the bountiful fruits and vegetables, condiments and gift items, grown and prepared, locally.

Perfect for a small family or two couples. Additional guests considered. Pet fee is a one time $50. A small insurance premium will be assessed. Check 'pets' box when inquiring and tell me about your pet. I'm willing to work with your special needs, if possible. Please ask.

Please inquire if you have any questions at all. Thank you.

About Laurie Newman

Former permanent resident and Salida business owner, I still enjoy visiting Salida from time to time when I need to take refuge from wandering the globe. This is such a sweet property, I can't let it go quite yet. I hope you will enjoy the space and location as much as I do. The new bamboo patio has been a fantastic many call a 'Sanctuary.'

Laurie Newman purchased this house in 2006

Why Laurie Newman chose Salida

Well, the location is perfect for those who like to be in a quiet part of downtown and walk nice on weekends and during festivals when parking would otherwise be impossible. That it has two full bathrooms and a private bamboo and stone patio, is a rarity for Salida and given I remodeled it entirely, in 2007 means that it has great bathrooms and a fantastic kitchen for those who would enjoy those features.

What makes this house unique

The entire house is you can see from the pics. It is very comfortable and relaxing and of course, close to everything.

Really liked this place - stayed a month!

  • 5 of 5

When you enter the gate you will see how nice the landscape has been installed, the landscaper did an awesome job! As you enter the home you will notice the beautiful wood floors and how the walls lead into the ceiling - very artistic. The kitchen has plenty of room and all the necessary items to cook and eat along with a good sized fridge. The master bedroom has a walk in closet and access to the back patio. Me and my wife along with our german sheppard stayed mid May to mid June 2017. We have traveled lots and believe this place to rank in the top of the homes we have stayed in. If you are an extended traveler you will understand what I mean if you choose to stay here. Salida is a rather small town with a Safeway and Walmart. A small park is one block away and a few more blocks and you are into the downtown area for the tourist shopping and restaurants. There is a larger park in the downtown area where bands perform and it backs up to a rather large river "Arkansas" that runs through the north side of town. You can raft, fish (two lakes very nearby) along with nice trails to bike and walk. My one gotta do is to drive Independence Pass to Aspen, if possible right after it has opened for the season. Caution - butt puckers are possible!

Sweet house and awesome owner!

  • 5 of 5

Just like the listing says, "cute downtown house", but that doesn't do it justice. A great house with a lot of character, well kept and well appointed, all the amenities you need, and perfect for our small family. It's roomy, yet cozy, it has great energy and we felt at home right away. Great location, just a few minutes walk to downtown and the river. Other than everything that is great about the house, the owner, Laurie, is amazing. She is very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. She really cares about her guests' experience and it shows.

Thank you, Laurie!

We had a great time. The house was perfect! Clean, comfortable, warm. Everything we needed was there. Center of town was about a 3 minute walk. One block away from park. GREAT PLACE AND WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN!

Love Salida!

  • 5 of 5

The house was very well represented in the VRBO site. Very clean and well maintained with all the amenities as described. The Farmers Market and downtown were very close and we had a great time rafting, mt. biking , hiking and enjoying hot springs and other unique and fun activities only Salida can provide. Please try Shallots on 1st street, Excellent food, great service and a nice quiet spot for a meal. The only issue we had with the house was the undersized grill (not gas, very small) and the front bedroom getting warm during the day (south facing). But a small fan and modification to the shades made it better for warm summer days. Would recommend this house to friends and family!
