Dated but clean and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

I booked the Sunburst property for our annual ski trip. There were six of us. Check in was very easy and seamless. The location was easy to get to and convenient for skiing. We decided to drive to the slopes rather than ride the shuttle. The property does have a two car garage which is accessible by renters. However, if you have a large SUV like we did, it won't fit. There is room in the driveway to park though. The home was clean and comfortable but very dated. The carpet in the main areas is very worn and thread bare. The wood floors are worn out. It has granite counters and new appliances in the kitchen. However, the icemaker did not function. Other than that, it's straight out of the 80's. The 'private' hot tub functioned well but I suspect it is on a timer of some sort because the jets didn't work after 9pm. It is on the front porch which is kind of odd since there isn't much privacy to be had. The TV is kind of in an odd spot in a side room off of the main living room rather than above the fireplace. Also, note that the bathrrom counters are really low. I'm only 5'7" and they were really low even for me. Overall, the house was clean, comfortable and in a convenient location. It served us well for the price.

Group Ski Vacation

  • 3 of 5

This house was definitely large enough for our big group of people. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen as we tend to cook a lot of group meals during this trip. We also enjoyed using the hot tub after long days of skiing. The living space was large enough for comfortable lounging.

The bedrooms and bathrooms in this house were definitely a bummer and the reason for the 3 star review. The three upstairs bathrooms all had carpeting - we are talking full carpeting in the toilet and shower areas with spots of obvious molding which was pretty disgusting. The sheets provided in several of the rooms felt like sandpaper and the mattresses in the bunk rooms definitely need replaced.

The walk to the bus stop to catch the shuttle to the slopes was a little long to be convenient (probably a 7-10 minute walk in ski gear) but luckily we had a few people who weren't skiing that graciously agreed to pick up and drop off groups at the slopes most of the time. It was good to have the option to access the shuttle though.

On arrival to the house, it was obvious there would not be nearly enough towels (roughly 8 large towels for 10 adults). We contacted the rental agency and they did supply plenty more towels at our request. However we arrived Saturday and could not get the towels until Monday evening.

The last item that bothered us was the driveway and walkways. There was no plow or shoveling service and virtually every surface was uneven with ice/snow and slippery. We had trouble getting loaded mini-vans and SUVs out of the inclined driveway due to the ice and our shuttle back to the airport wisely refused to use the driveway so we had to carry our luggage up and down the driveway on arrival and departure.

Overall this house very comfortably fit our 10 adults and had some great amenities (large kitchen, laundry, hot tub) but definitely could have been better.

Labor Day Family Time

  • 4 of 5

First the good things:

-Large living room with plenty of comfortable seating

-Large dining room seating at least 10

-Large TV room away from living room

-Large kitchen

-Large laundry room

-Large hot tub in working order

-2 bedrooms separated from other 3 bedrooms making for quiet times when young children awake early

-Double garage although our Buick Enclave didn't fit, only daughters' Subarus-not a problem in fall weather but would be in the winter

Things that need improvement:

-Only four(plastic!) chairs and small(plastic!) table on deck so family couldn't gather there even though weather was nice

-Only one barely working hair dryer for four bathrooms-would be inexpensive to supply for each bathroom

-Stained carpet through, especially in living room, master bath, and entry

-Chipped paint in many rooms

-No plastic glasses for use near hot tub-dangerous!

While the above aren't deal breakers and didn't affect our weekend much this property could go from "good" to "excellent" with more attention to these details. We have rented many properties in the Vail Valley and the rate charged for this property is more than some properties that are in better condition.

Roomy and great environment

  • 4 of 5

We had 10 people for a family reunion and it worked out great. The house is roomy and well equipped. The master bedrooms were comfortable but the guest bedrooms and bunk beds need new mattresses to be comfortable. (My guests in the guest bedroom would only give three stars due to the mattress). The location right next to the golf course was pleasant and the access to the Vail bike path was a plus. You will need a car to stay here and enjoy Vail. We were all happy with this place and would return.

April 2016 Stay

  • 3 of 5

House was out of date and rundown. Would not stay here again. Toilet exploded the first night from the wall and we fought tooth and nail with the emergency service to get a plumber to come out. Not enough towels for the house.
