We enjoyed our stay. The hot tub was great and the environment was very peaceful and secluded. Just what we were looking for.

Terrific getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time visiting the Shenandoah Valley and Cara and Bill's cabin made for a perfect home base to explore the National Park and Luray Caverns. The cabin was very clean and comfortable for a family of four. The kitchen was nice and spacious so cooking was a pleasure. Cara even brought us a baking dish we needed for one of our meals. Thanks again! Our young kids loved the adjoining meadow next door, which was great for whiffle ball and tag. The river is beautiful and just a short walk away. Loved the fire pit, hot tub, and hammock. As some other reviewers noted, the main road and a neighboring cabin are pretty nearby, but we didn't find it to be a problem at all. The road is lightly traveled and the back yard is very private, surrounded by trees and a small hillside.

Not what I expected based on pictures presented on website.

  • 2 of 5

This is a quaint, little cottage. It had the exact feel that we were looking for. However, that was about it. I had specifically inquired about my Dad (78) being able to view the river, and was led to believe that this cabin sat right on the Shenandoah River. NOT TRUE!! Very disheartening, as this was what my Father wanted. We were okay with the few 'bugs'. You kind of expect that when you rent a rental, so we just dealt with them. The other major issue was the fact that there is an additional unit for rent (they were working on it), that was located literally next to our driveway. For two to three of our nights, work was done on the other unit into the 'wee' hours of the morning. In fact, one night they worked all night long. I did not pay to hear this type of noise all night long. It literally kept us up, due to the power saws running. The cottage, cute. Nothing else regarding our stay was. I was very disappointed in the misrepresentation of the river, and the sounds of work the entire stay!

Owner's Response: I do not advertise being on the river. I advertise river access 235 yards down a path. The construction crew promised me they would not use any noisy machines. I am sorry about that. However the house next door flooded and the work had to be completed.
