Fantastic holiday where you can relax, unwind and enjoy all the activities too.

Surrounded by almond groves this enormous cave house offers a unique holiday opportunity for those who wish to relax in peaceful countryside or enjoy the cycling, walking, tennis and sports facilities this area provides. The cave house is spacious, light and airy. It has all the comforts of a modern home. The main bedroom is a king size, the second bedroom has a double bed and the third has 2 single beds. Lounge with wood burner, satellite TV, dining area and snug area with wood burner. 2 Bathrooms. Fully fitted kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. You have private use of the Swimming POOL, 8x4m, with sunbeds, pergola, huge terrace and beautiful views. Private TENNIS COURT. There is a boules area, pool table, giant chess set, trampoline, table tennis table and bikes. WiFi connection.

For clay tennis courts and padel courts there is a tennis club 20 minutes away.

Font de Llop golf course 25 minutes away.

The owners live in the farmhouse within the grounds of the cavehouse and are available to provide assistance and local maps.

The Cavehouse maintains a constant comfortable temperature all year round so there is no need for air conditioning in the Summer.

We have been living in La Canalosa for 14 years.

We spent a few years reforming the property and garden, building a swimming pool, tennis court, various patios and activity areas until we felt it was ready for holiday vacations.

We love our adopted home here, the local people are friendly and welcoming and all of our guests have felt the same.

We are located just outside a tiny Spanish village in the mountains.

The peaceful tranquility is what all our guests love, but when they want more action it is not far away. Beautiful sandy Costa Blanca beaches are 40 minutes drive away. The interesting and vibrant city of Elche with shopping centres, zoo, parks and bowling is 20 minutes away. For still more action Benidorm is just over an hours drive away with theme parks, water parks and more

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Our cavehouse remains at an ambient temperature throughout the year which makes it a refreshing retreat on the hot Summer days & nights and a comfortable cosy home during colder Winter nights.

No unhealthy air conditioning needed.

It is beautifully finished internally with porcelain floor tiles throughout, modern bathrooms with showers and a fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven, dishwasher etc.

All bedrooms have natural light via window or light well.

No need to miss your favourite TV shows as we have all of the terrestrial English TV channels plus more including EuroSport and Teledeporte.

WiFi connection is free as is bike hire and rackets and pool table equipment.

We will even lend you padel bats should you wish to try out padel tennis on the court in the village.

2eme sejour passee a la canalosa et toujours tres satisfait de l ensemble de la prestation maison tres agreable a vivre et qui dispose de toutes les commodites aussi bien a l interieur qu'a lexterieur avec une multitude de choses(tennis piscine vtt boulodrome trampoline etc..)qui font la joie de petits et grands.les propriaitaires sont tres dfiscrets et tres serviables n hesitant pas a vous indiquer les marches sympas ou fetes de villages nombreuses l ete.a conseiler et consommer sans moderation

Relaxing, yet active!

A very enjoyable stay! Warren and Helen are very welcoming hosts, and we must thank them for arranging a stunning highlight of our holiday - a walk/hike/scramble to the top of Pena de la Mina with scores of local people as part of the town's annual fiesta. The views from the summit were breathtaking.

We were worried that a cavehouse might seem claustrophobic, but there was plenty of space, and we spent most of our time outdoors lying in the sun, or shade, or in the pool, or playing pool, or barbecueing, or trying to play tennis...

The location is very rural, and the scenery is dramatic, which was perfect for us. A hire car is essential, and then you can easily take trips to the beach at El Arenals etc if you want to. We found plenty to keep us occupied for a fortnight.

All in all, a very good holiday.

A Sunny Autumn Break in the Spanish Hinterland

Five of us (4 adults plus one eleven year old) stayed for the week ending October 2014. The listing description was very accurate so our expectations were fulfilled with respect to the facilities, however the weather was even better than expected. The wide range of facilities ensured that we had plenty to do through the day & evening. The location is clean & quiet, so is perfect for relaxing but we couldn't resist using the mountain bikes provide to explore the locality. The nearest village is a maximum of 15 minutes walk and it is safe for children to cycle, it's small but has a few grocery shops and restaurants. All the locals we met were very friendly & the whole area felt safe. Our hosts were extremely welcoming & helpful - always willing to offer information / make a phone call to the restaurant & organised a car to transfer us from the airport (cheaper than airport prices). They were available but non-intrusive, a perfect balance. Although we did some self-catering a lunchtime menu of the day at the nearest restaurant cost me 10 Euros including two beers & a tip! If you want to visit Alicante & the coastal areas it's probably best to hire a car at the airport on arrival. It's about 8 Km (5 miles) to the town Hondon De Las Nieves. Wifi reception is best outside the Cavehouse & was fast enough for browsing the internet & uploading photos to social sites. There are ample plug sockets for recharging cameras, phones, etc. TV & radio reception were good & an excellent range of DVDs & books were available to use. I would gladly recommend this property to a friend / relative, but please don't book when I want to return! We all said that we would like to return as our stay was so good, I'm thinking of two weeks next time. This is a location for those who want to feel they've visited Spain & not for those who prefer highrise hotels & noisy discos & we loved our stay at Cueva Picpiedra.

We spent a week at the cave house ,4 adults & 3 children who were well entertained with all the amenities.A car is necessary for this area which we knew

before we traveled .The experience was great and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Helen & Warren were always at hand if needed but also made sure

not to invade our privacy . Overall a lovely family holiday.

The property was exactly as described

On arrival the property looked exactly as shown in the photographs, the sky was a brilliant, clear blue and it was hot! The rooms were a good size, apart from the bunk bedded one - that really is only suitable for one small child. The owners were really helpful and this property was very well equipped. As suggested in the write up a car really is essential here, but we survived by using a very helpful local taxi lady. If you are looking for relaxation away from it all - with activities to keep young ones amused then this is ideal.

What a great rural getaway

We arrived at the cave house full of expectations of a good weeks holiday, and we absolutely were not disappointed. The owners greeted us upon arrival, and showed us around, an unexpected bonus was the welcome pack, some simple provisions to get you going, like water, milk, and most important sangria. During our stay they were around if you needed to ask questions, or needed advice, but did not intrude at all.

The facilities are just plain fantastic, its even better than it looks in the pictures, The accommodation is well equipped, spacious, and a lovely temperature !!. The pool was clean, well maintained, and not slippery on the steps leading in. Its a fantastic rural getaway in the sun, and our family of 6 had plenty of room, and the children had loads to do. We would thoroughly recommend, and fully intend to visit again.

The cavehouse is just a 10 minute walk to the local village of La Canalosa. It is a tiny traditional Spanish village but has 2 grocery shops for fresh bread every morning and 2 bar/restaurants.

Nearby villages of Hondon de las Nieves and Algueña are each less than 10km away. They both have a larger selection of shops, banks, bars and restaurants and still retain their traditional Spanish feel. Market days are good fun and fiestas which are fairly regular are amazing entertainment. You can also visit the local bodegas where very good, locally produced wine can be sampled.

Nestled among the breathtaking Crevillente mountains, there are limitless walks and cycle rides where you can find a huge variety of bird and plant species.

Other Activities: Tennis Court on site. Boules Area. Pool Table. Trampoline. Table tennis. Basketball net.Giant chess set.

Also locally can be booked horse riding, local Tennis pro Coach available for tennis lessons. guided mountain tours, balloon flights, cycling tours, abseiling & hiking.

Alenda Golf Course is just 20 mins away by car.
