Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bath, yard, private patio-back, great for a family

A summer or fall getaway to the mid-coast of Maine is a bucket list have-to-do. Bayside Village is a wonderful throw back to a bygone era. Cottages, dating from the 1800’s, with Victorian architecture and unique features charm you from the moment you arrive.

The Parsonage Cottage (Circa 1873) is aptly named after its former long-time minister owner. Located in the Merrithew Square section of Bayside, this cottage has a spacious lawn and private rear canopied patio. The front deck is an area to wave to passersby, have coffee, drinks or read a book in the sunshine. Trees and flowers abound. The property also contains a red storage barn and a bungalow. Off street parking is on the property. The Parsonage has two bedrooms, a large master with a queen size bed and a small 2nd bedroom with two twin beds. Downstairs is a futon in a private area for overflow guests. The bathroom is large and new (made to look old!). The kitchen is newly painted and floored and well supplied for your summer cooking. The living room/dining room is comfortable and inviting for family game time and meals. The Parsonage is a short walk to the beach, dock, parks, golf and village library.

Bayside Village has its’ own yacht club where sailing lessons are available, both group lessons for kids 10+ and private lessons. Northport golf course is right at the top of the street and is a friendly and convenient 9-holer. Everything in Bayside is walkable. Walking Shore Road is something that you need to experience! The City of Belfast is just a few miles north for shopping, restaurants and sights. Mt. Desert Island/ Bar Harbor is an easy day trip. Lincolnville and Camden are just south for all that the Maine Coast has to offer, schooner rides and lobsta”! Enjoy a quiet family vacation, full of activities or nothing at all!

About John Lojek

From the Boston area, I have been traveling to Bayside for summer weekends and vacations for 22 years. Wanted a place where kids could be kids and found that in Bayside. I'm an avid fixer and putterer and Bayside's antique cottages give me all I can handle, in a good way. I sail at the yacht club and take advantage of the Golf course and the beauty of the Maine coast.

John Lojek purchased this cottage in 2007

Why John Lojek chose Mid-Coast & Islands

The Parsonage property is my second in Bayside. I moved to this property because of the land/ lawn/ space. Parsonage sets back from the road which is unusual in Bayside, has landscaping around it and has a very private rear patio. The fact that it also has a barn/ workshop and a bungalow made the ownership decision easy for me. I love working around the property and can have family and friends visit very comfortably. Bayside is my kids favorite place in the world even now that they are in their twenties.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace. Quiet. Breezes. Walks. Waves. Socializing. Incredible views. Old school vacation. Trees. Water. Boats. Nothing at all.

On a summer or fall evening when it's time to retire, the master bedroom on the 2nd floor, which has windows on all sides, allows the breeze from any direction or a swirling wind to make you feel like you are camping out yet under full cover.

Great week at Baqside

  • 5 of 5

We much enjoyed the great location, the well-stocked kitchen, the comfortable beds, and the quiet surroundings. The cottage was just as advertised and John was available when we arrived, cordial and made sure that should we need anything to let him know. Although free from TV and Internet, that was fine with us - we do not have cable at home. The Belfast co-op has great Internet connectivity free. Bayside offers a relaxed, friendly and beautiful setting, where we like to return, and we have done so through the years. Bayside is great to just relax, or to use as a setting for involvement in many activities close by. We loved swimming at the Belfast YMCA pool.

Bayside is magical!!!

  • 5 of 5

It was such a relaxing time staying in Bayside. It is a perfect place for kids and for parents to unwind and "get away from it all". You truly feel like you are stepping back in time and it is a great place to put down the electronics and soak in your family and quality time together. There are so many activities to do in the village but also in the many small towns dotting the coast.

We loved the cottage, it was cozy and comfortable for our family of 4. We had lots of fun playing on the large lawn and BBQing in the backyard. I just love staying in places with so much history as this place!! We will definitely be back for sure!
