About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-9)

When you first walk through our doors, you will feel as if you are at home. This is not your average rental property.

Our Kiawah Island, SC vacation rental home is located at 700 Glossy Ibis Lane beyond the second gate in Vanderhorst Plantation. The large deck across the back of the house overlooks Cinder Creek. This marsh view is incredible and a haven for white snowy egrets. You will enjoy the changes in the marsh with the high and low tides. Across the street is a fishing and crabbing dock. You can catch flounder and redfish here!

Our luxury 3600 square foot home features two master bedrooms with king-size bedding and televisions. The third spacious bedroom has two queen beds with TV. All bedrooms have their own bathrooms. There is an upstairs loft with a queen sleeper sofa. We provide fast access DSL and wireless.

The formal living and dining room has 18 foot vaulted ceilings with an awesome view of the marsh. There is an expansive kitchen with breakfast area that opens into the great room with TV.. There are rear French doors to the deck that lead to the swimming pool. The salt water pool has a heat pump for year round enjoyment. Salt water pools require fewer chemicals and less chlorine. The pool is cleaned twice a week and is completely fenced in with two gates. It is very private. A charge for pool heat may apply in spring and fall.

The kitchen is well-equipped for the gourmet. Our appliances are all new. We have provided an abundance of utensils including a coffee grinder, a blender, a food processor, a mixer, etc., and all that is necessary for the preparation of almost any meal. There is a vast array of quality pots and pans as well as cooking and serving dishes.

This property has a Superior FIVE-STAR rating by the resort. Our wonderful home is situated on almost a full acre lot with beautiful marsh views.

We provide you with a comprehensive Information Booklet prior to your arrival that includes names, telephone numbers and websites of restaurants and services in order that you might arrange for bicycle delivery prior to your arrival, tee times, fishing trips, kayaking tours, spa visits, restaurant reservations and more before your arrival at Kiawah.

The private beach of Kiawah is approximately 700 yards away. If you choose not to walk or bike to the beach, there are two beach parking lots nearby.

Thanks for a great week! We loved the house and the pool! It was the perfect size for our family. Pool was much bigger than we expected too! Wish we could have stayed longer.

I hope we'll see you again next year!

Relaxing Vacation Home

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 6 enjoyed the week, in spite of a lot of days of rain! The boys were able to ride bikes, crab, fish, and the adults rested, read, and swam in the pool. When you go to the beach, you will either need to take a car or ride a bike unless you like a good walk. We were glad we rented bikes for 4 for the week! The home has everything needed for a relaxing time, a nice view off the back deck toward the marsh, and a refreshing pool when you just want a quick time in the sun or a swim after dinner!! We enjoyed our stay!

This is the most amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

We love Kiawah and this is definitely the best house we have rented at Kiawah. The interior is perfect and the house is fully supplied with all the kitchen equipment you could dream of. The pool was heated and perfect and we enjoyed it especially during the cooler evenings. There are floats and beach chairs so we had it all. We highly recommend this property and will return again.

Fully equipped and recently renovated, the home , pool, and awesome marsh views provided the perfect getaway . Owner was very accesible and helpful without being intrusive. Hope to visit here again soon!

Great place to stay at Kiawah.

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderful week at Kiawah, staying in a luxurious home that had everything one could need. Our party consisted of my daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. The house was perfect, fully stocked with everything needed to cook inside or out. The house was exactly as stated. The location provides a beautiful marsh view and the pool finishes it off. My grandchildren made very good use of the pool daily. They enjoyed it better than than the beach. They made good use of the noodles for the pool and sand toys for the beach. Since they fly from Colorado to get to Kiawah, it would not be possible to bring those things with them. I would recommend this home to anyone wishing to rent a trouble free property that provides a good time from the minute you walk in the door.

Very disappointed

  • 2 of 5

If you want to spend the first 2 and 1/2 days of your vacation cleaning someone else's mess than this is the place for you.Upon arrival I notified (took pictures) the owner about the poor condition the outdoor pool area was in...her answer was there had been bad weather the night before. Well if she knew that why didn't she check her property to see how it was. She lives nearby. Or at least send someone over to check it out. The door hanging off hinges and debris all over was not from the storm...it was from things not being put away and not being attended to.. I couldn't put my car in the garage because both sides of the garage were filled with paraphernalia. Her answer...that shouldn't be. But did nothing about it. I cleaned the garage! The pot holders in the kitchen were filthy...I sent her a picture...she thought it was disgusting but it still took her 2 1/2 days to do something about it. When the cleaning people finally showed up 2/12 days later they couldn't believe how bad the place was. This place is not like your home or my home unless you like to live in filth and disarray. The kitchen is not well equipped. I had to go and buy a knife sharpener because the knives were so dull. The grill was not cleaned...I spent 3 hrs doing that, too. So the bottom line is I have been to Kiawah for 28 years and have rented property thru Homeaway/VRBO for 6 of those years and in all the years that I have been there I have never had problems before. Most owners take pride in their property, this owner didn't care. She even acknowledged that she knew the housekeeper was going to be away for 2 weeks but didn't make any arrangements to make sure things were done right. There are better places in Kiawah without the aggravation.

Owner's Response: My husband and I have owned and rented this home for 11 years and it has been listed with VRBO for 11 years. In all this time, I have never encountered a situation quite like this. This renter and her friend arrived at night after a late afternoon rainstorm. She walked the yard and was upset that no one came to the house at 5 pm to clean the leaves from the pool after the storm passed through Kiawah. She expressed shock that I had not driven 1 hour from Charleston to Kiawah to clean the storm debris myself that evening. She also found a hinge that had come loose on the swinging door where the pool equipment is held. She was very upset by this. This door cannot be seen from the pool area, the front of the house, or the rear deck that goes all across the house, nor can it be seen from anywhere in the house. It is true that it took from Friday night when I learned of this until Sunday after church before the hinge was replaced. The pool man appeared the very next morning following the storm as did 2 people from housekeeping service who straightened out the patio furniture, the yard and the garage. She told me she had cleaned the grill the night before but housekeeping assured me they had cleaned the grill at her request. When I asked if there was anything at all that needed attention in the house, the only complaint was that there was a dirty pot holder. I pressed her on the condition of the interior of the house and she did not have a single complaint. I am sorry that housekeeping overlooked this and my housekeeping service was happy to bring new pot holders to the house. After I spoke with the owner of the housekeeping service, she told me that the woman who ordinarily heads the crew was on vacation and this was most likely the reason the dirty pot holder had not been replaced. It is our goal to provide a clean and comfortable home and, in the case that something needs attention, to be responsive. All of our other reviews have been wonderful and we continue to have many repeat guests over the years. Please see also our 26 guestbook comments from visitors over the years. They can be found under the heading "Owner Info".
