Remodeled 4 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom in Emerald Isle 2nd row, walk to beach!
About Brian Tanner
In the summer I enjoy my ocean kayak and ride the waves; on the flatwater I paddleboard, windsurf, kayak, and sail my inflatable kayak sailboat. At the beach I'm happy just sitting in the tidal pools and soaking in the pretty scene. My son Brian manages the renting (with some help). He's a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill. In the winter I want to be close to the best powder skiing in the country - Alta and Snowbird. I enjoy the Salt Lake Valley and all it has to offer from food to soccer games and a tremendous airport to get you anywhere. I grew up in New England [back when it was cold] and enjoy the freshness that comes with cold. I've been an enthusiastic photographer all my life. It started in the Berkshires and on Cape Code and ow my focus is NC and Utah. Emerald Isle's West-East orientation [strange for the east coast] yields unique and pretty sunrises and sunsets; it's worth getting up [really] early in the morning and trying to catch a seagull flying in front of the rising sun. I'd also recommend walking across the island to the sound at sunset. Late in the season you might get the sun setting on the beach side. Utah's Wasatch too and the view of the Salt Lake valley provide lots of opportunity for picture taking any time of day and any season of the year. In the summer, trips to national parks from SLC are my favorite; our National Parks are true gems and an endless source of inspiring photos.
Brian Tanner purchased this House in 2014
Why Brian Tanner chose Emerald Isle
My family has spent weeks at beach throughout NC and we chose to buy a house on Emerald Isle because it is simply the best combination of a family friendly place that has "peace and quiet" and "something to do." I chose the location on Emerald Isle so I could easily bike to the local stores; for me the perfect early morning activity [after you take sunrise pictures]. We would love to share our house with you so you can have the same great experiences we have.
What makes this House unique
We chose to rent out the house on flexible days because Saturday at the beach is often a zoo everywhere. Typically, when you arrive on Saturday the whole rest of the world seems to be coming too. There is a ton of traffic, the grocery store is jammed [and running out of food] and don't even think about going out for dinner [or even getting a quick pizza]. Leaving Saturday early is equally stressful and unpleasant. That's no way to start or end a vacation. So come and leave on Friday or Sunday. Sundays are stress-free on arrival, and there is minimal traffic on your departure. Give a Sunday->Sunday vacation a try! We want folks to be able to time their vacation so it can be as relaxing as possible. We've rented many houses on Emerald Isle [versus the two large rental organizations]. We want folks to have a pleasant, relaxing break, not a stay that ends up so stressful that you need a vacation to recover from your vacation. We are perfectionists about the house and want everything just right. So tell us right away if something is not right and we'll get it fixed. The salty air and sand can cause all kinds of problems; we'd rather hop on a problem quickly.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:
100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
Great Vacation Home
This duplex was everything the owners said it was. A minute walk from the beach. Easy to get to and from the local grocery store and dinning.
Great town. Will definitely visit again.
I'm glad our first stay of the year went well. We're looking forward to ensuring folks have another great year on EI
Great House, Great Owners
We were in the area for work in response to Hurricane Florence. This house was great for those of us going to Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point. As our schedule changed and was extended, Brian and Brad worked with us on rental extensions to make our whole experience pleasant. The house is close to everything and was a great oasis after long work days.
Better than expected!
Walk to beach wasn't as far as map looked, & beach area was not affected by crowds from public beach close by. House was clean & ready for us, & had a better ocean view than what we thought. The extra beach supply closet came in really handy for us as we needed the extra umbrellas etc to enjoy the beach. Love the outdoor shower and hose-off area!
I'm glad the house (and the weather) worked out for Labor Day Weekend. I try not to oversell the view and closeness of the beach (thus the picture) so I am happy that it exceeds expectations. We've finished our fall upgrades so you were the first to use the new fridge, stove, and microwave.
Great location, very nice property
Enoyed our stay at this property. This is our third time visiting the island and the location of the property is close to restaurants, supermarket, and the beach. Very nice accommodations and would stay here again.
Great place to stay!
The house was wonderful! Very clean, nicely decorated, and spacious. Our party consisted of 6 adults (2 couples and 2 grown kids) and two children, all immediate family members. Two sisters shared a bedroom and everyone else had their own bed/bedroom. All the beds were extremely comfortable, not hard like some hotel beds. All appliances worked as expected, having a washing machine and dryer really helped keep the ‘after vacation’ clothes all taken care off. Though we brought beach toys and accessories, there were some available as we did use the big blue beach wagon which came in extremely handy. We never got around to using the kayaks but it was nice to know they were there for the guests. From both balconies you can see and hear the ocean, no background traffic or busy parking lot noises. The only time we heard the people in the duplex attached was when we were walking up the steps to their balcony and they were saying “Hello”. The walk to the beach took approximately ten minutes considering we we’re pulling the wagon full of beach stuff and our coolers.
We notified Brad when we arrived and though we had no issues with anything, he was easily reachable.
Grocery store, dining, movie theater, water park, and shopping are a mere 15 minute or less walk, anything else you may want to drive. So yes, close to most everything you may want to enjoy.
We will definitely make this our next beach vacation site! So looking forward to coming back in 2019.
Brad and Brian, you have a wonderful place, very well taken care of! Thank you for sharing.
My family and I give this a 5 star +++ rating.
Thank you for taking the time to review our home. The blue beach cart was a recommendation from one of our guests. Other guests should note that there are about 5 stairs to get over the dune, but thankfully that's about it. We strive to learn what we can do to make the vacation as enjoyable as possible and always welcome input and ideas.
Quiet and relaxing
We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was quiet, comfortable, clean, and exactly as advertised. Would def stay again.
Thanks. We try to very careful to make sure the experience matches folks expectations. It's great to hear that we succeeded
