Being small with only 2 units we closely manage Courtyard Suites and you will often find quick cancellation specials and substantial savings by booking on our website.

BOTH OF OUR SUITES have cathedral ceilings with plenty of windows for natural light and views. They are comforably and tastefully furnished with fully equipped kitchens, queen size beds, plus convertible sleepers, cable TV, DVD, and wireless Internet. The deck is provided with a charcoal grill and patio furniture for each unit. Both suites are often booked together for larger parties of family or friends' reunions as the deck is perfect for visiting and dining together.

The location within easy walking distance of all the shopping (including grocery store), theatres, museums, Farmer's Market and the fun of Friday Harbor is always a delight to our guests. Within our cluster of historical cottages you will find a bakery next door for your morning coffee and pastries, a wonderful used bookstore, the farmer's market, an award winning restaurant, and a massage studio.

Our aim is to provide you with a place to relax after a day of biking, kayaking, hiking, or wildlife and whale watch excursions. Not that ambitious? Then let the others 'do their thing' while you stay home and explore the antique store and the wonderful used bookstore, order lunch at the deli and take it home to eat on the deck while reading a book. All within steps of your suite!

About Kirsten Daniel

About the owner: Courtyard Suites is owned and managed by Kirsten and Philip Daniel with the help of Tika our dog (who actually manages a great deal of our lives.). Thus we are always listed as dog friendly. We are long time residents of San Juan Island after many years of fishing in Alaska and wandering the world. The BEST

First off, I was initially worried about booking this location because I had read some previous reviews about noise from a bakery. This location was absolutely PERFECT! Yes there was some noise, but you are in the heart of the town and it is regular noise from being in a prime location. There is a bakery next door with the best sweets. We had a great time getting breakfast and bringing it up and eating on our deck.

The accommodations were great and although we hit a heat wave in Friday harbor, there were windows that opened across the way from each other so we could get cross-ventilation as well as plenty of fans. We are a family of five and found the space easy, comfortable and clean.

My kids loved running up and down the stairs and getting around town so easily. I also liked that a parking space came with the accommodations as most of town has restrictions of two hour street parking only.

Kirsten was easy to work with and communicate with. Before even coming out I had been emailing with questions and she was always quick to respond with helpful travel suggestions.

Just another FYI, there is a great kayak company, San Juan Kayak, that is stationed right in front of the accommodations. We went on a sunset kayak and it was great - I highly recommend and Sally (one of the owners) was also great at giving advice on beaches and hikes in the area.

Charming Apartment Right in the Heart of FH!

We loved our stay. The apartment is somehow both cozy and spacious. We were a party of two couples and dog. Plenty of space. The foldout couch works great and is much better than a futon. The balcony is lovely. Walking distance to everything in town. We would definitely stay again.

Outstanding!

We stayed in the Studio in late Sept 2016. SO pleased! Arrived on Clipper Ferry before check-in, but Kirsten let us store our luggage in room while we went to Farmers Market almost next door. Everything was spotless and the kitchen is stocked with every pot, pan, dish, corkscrew, etc. that you could possibly need. And coffee and tea. Very spacious. Good Wi-Fi, limited TV stations. The website photos are spot on. Walking distance to Ferry, bus that goes around island, grocery store, shops, restaurants, Whale Museum, etc. The Cafe Demeter bakery next door was excellent. I had their lox and cream cheese on bagel three days in a row! I highly recommend Courtyard Suites. Only drawbacks were the three mornings we were awakened early by loud garbage bin dumping behind us (but bed was so comfortable we went right back to sleep) and no grab bars in bathtub for those who prefer baths. Just an aside: the best meal we had was at Vinny's Ristorante on West Street.

Great location for our family getaway.

Our family of 3 stayed in the Studio Suite for 4 nights during the month of July.

Pros:

-Booking was easy online & the owner was easy to deal with.

-The suite is advertised, clean with adequate kitchen supplies. I would have preferred a new bar of soap to a large bottle of body wash in the shower, but that may be personal preference.

-Location, location, location. We walked everywhere in town except one day; there was a car rental place within walking distance & we were able to explore the rest of the island. There is no denying that the Courtyard Suites have a fantastic location!

-The owner allowed us to store our luggage in the suite before check-in time as the Clipper arrived very early in the morning. She provided the same courtesy during the day we checked out. This was much appreciated.

Cons:

-I hardly slept well at all during our 4 night stay here.

-There is a trash dumpster right outside the window by the bed. Three of the four mornings, a loud truck came & emptied the dumpster before 7 a.m. It's possible one of the trucks was a fuel truck as well, I was too tired to look out the window. There was no way to sleep through this racket.

-We attempted to keep the windows open to allow a breeze at night since there is no AC. The suite has casement windows that swing out, with mini blinds for privacy. Whenever the breeze came through the windows, the blinds would bang against the window frames. Several nights my husband & I couldn't sleep from the blinds banging, & ended up having to be hot with no cross ventilation just to stop the noise.

-By the time tax was added & an additional fee per night for my son to sleep on the futon, it ended up being pricier than we expected.

Overall I would recommend the Courtyard Suites, especially if you are a heavy sleeper!

COURTYARD SUITES IS LOCATED in an historic cluster of cottages. Our neighborhood includes a bakery next door, an award winning restaurant, the farmer's market, a delightful used bookstore, and a deli all within our block. All the shopping,. museums, galleries and the grocery store are within easy walking distance.. The Studio Suite is set back from the street front overlooking a lovely courtyard..

NO NEED TO BRING A CAR.. Susie's Mopeds, bike rentals, and San Juan Transit are all a few steps from Courtyard Suites. You can also rent a car at M&W Car Rentals.
