Stayed for a long weekend. We were nervous about the fact that the island was so isolated, needing a Ferry to get to it. It was not an issue. Be sure to bring some food items though because there are only two restaurants on the island. The property itself was beautiful. Well equipped and very easy to get out to the beach. All of the islanders were super friendly and so helpful. We would definitely come back.
My husband and I recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in this charming cottage. Deborah and Karen were a dream to work with from the very beginning...very well organized and responded to inquiries in a timely manner. I was concerned about the logistics of getting all that we might need over on the ferry, but it was no big deal. These people know what they're doing. The cottage was great! It was clean and spacious. We had another couple with us for a few days of our week-long stay and there was plenty of room. We enjoyed investigating this quirky little island on the golf cart, touring the Daufuskie Rum Co., and just chillin' on the beach. The very best part of our stay was the view! We saw dolphin every day and pelican diving for fish. Thank you Deborah and Karen! It was lovely!
Beautiful home..... amazing getaway.
We had a great vacation and didn’t want for a thing. We were met by Karen when we arrived who told us about the island and the home. Deb checked in on us late in the week to make sure we were ok. So very nice for a visit with owners truly wanting to make sure you have a great time and we did. Golf was great, we watched the sunrise both from the beach and the screen porch of the home. We will definitely return next fall if not before. Thanks for everything Deb including the extra touches.
Beautiful and relaxing place
The cottage was exactly as described maybe even a little bit better. Deborah and Karen did a wonderful job working with me to surprise my soon to be fiancé with Roses and Champagne. Felt like we had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Only bad thing was that we had to leave. :( Really enjoyed the little bit of heaven called Daufuskie Island.
Perfect getaway spot!
Enjoyed Labor Day Weekend at the house. Home is perfect for two couples and has everything you need. Will definitely return.
Views are amazing!
Our family of 5 stayed in this cottage for a week in August of 2017. We thought the cottage was very well-maintained, clean, and spacious. We brought plenty of food over to prepare our meals, and were happy to have a well-stocked kitchen. The 6-person golf cart is a nice amenity, as it is the only way to get around the island. We were very happy to have the use of that during our stay. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of towels. It was such a joy to sit out on the screened porch with my coffee and soak in the sunrise and ocean views. It's such a quick and easy walk down to the beach. The water is very shallow, and when you have low tide you can walk quite far out to explore. We didn't have any "big waves" so if your kids are into boogie-boarding, they'll be disappointed. But my boys (ages 15, 13, and 10) did enjoy exploring and finding sand dollars, hermit crabs, and other critters. We rated it 4 out of 5 stars due to the current dilapidated state of the Melrose resort. This is by no means the owners' fault, but renters should be aware that you will be riding by other cottages and the main hotel and "island house" that have broken windows, open and damaged doors, fallen trees, and the golf course is extremely overgrown. The resort is up for auction at the end of the month, and I truly hope a new investor comes along to bring the Melrose resort back to life. We did go over to golf and use the pool at the Bloody Point resort for 2 days during our stay. Overall, we had a very relaxing stay and we enjoyed Daufuskie.

Chase has been featured in numerous Southern and Coastal Living publications and recently won a national “American Made” contest sponsored by the Martha Stewart magazine. Lots of interesting things to see here, and visitors enjoy exploring his art work on both the front porch and in an outdoor gallery area. Love honey? Chase has his own bee hives, and you can buy jars of freshly-made honey. *** The Silver Dew Pottery opens for the season on Tuesday, April 30th and remains open through October. This studio is run by Lancy and Emily Burn, longtime Daufuskie residents. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Lancy's grandfather arriving on Daufuskie to serve as the Bloody Point assistant lighthouse keeper. You can hear some fascinating stories about the island's history from the Burns during your visit to this shop. The hours for the Silver Dew Pottery are 9:00 am - 2:30 pm:, Tuesday through Friday *** The historic Jane Hamilton School, formerly used as the school for children living on the north end of the island, has been restored by the Daufuskie Historical Foundation and is currently home to the Gullah Learning Center and the Daufuskie Island Community Library. It also serves as the polling location for Daufuskie's elections precinct. 2. Located next door is the Billie Burn Museum, which was formerly the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
