Laura Chilton purchased this House in 2015
Why Laura Chilton chose Orient
We fell in love with all the north fork has to offer and finally found the perfect private retreat on the sound. You will feel like you are on the south of France on that stunning beach. Feel free to contact us at any time for local recommendations!
What makes this House unique
the privacy of the home, the combination of pool/ sound beach/ sports, all in the gorgeous town that is Orient, NY.

Property was perfect for our family. Plenty of bedrooms and an open living space to gather together
The pool was perfect, the view was lovely. The beach was smooth rocks rather than sand but it was great for a walk on the beach. It took effort and felt like a bit of a workout which I loved.
Nirvana on the North Fork
We chose this property as a venue to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. We wanted something special and this was it!!! We could not have done better.
Even before arriving at this amazing house, our dealings with the owners Laura and Alex made it clear how cooperative, responsive and helpful they would be as "hosts." Most of my emailed questions and concerns were answered within minutes and always cheerfully and positively. For example, when I asked about a crib, Laura ordered one immediately!
The house itself surpasses the exquisite pictures on the website. It is perfectly located-- private yet with easy access to Greenport and Orient. It exudes a zen-like calm with big open spaces and magnificent views from every window-- yet there is space for each occupant (we were thirteen: 8 adults and 5 kids) to find privacy when needed.
The kitchen and linen closets are well-stocked and well-organized. There were even plenty of games and toys. Everything is beautifully maintained (gardeners, housekeepers and pool people see to that!).
My family especially loved the pool-- big enough for lap-swimming but with an ample shallow section for the kids to splash around in. It's also stunningly landscaped, adding an esthetic element. The beach provided many long walks, highlighted by bird-watching (the cormorants were fascinating). Some of us swam in the Sound, enjoying the bracing cold water.
We also had excursions to Orient Beach Park, Greenport and Southold restaurants and shopping, wineries, etc. The Greenport merry-go-round was a huge hit. My oldest grandson won several free rides by grabbing the ring and our youngest grandchild had her first carousel ride and loved it.
I cannot say enough good things about the house and our stay there. All of us were so sad to leave and hope to make a return visit in the future. I whole-heartedly recommend this house and if you rent it, I wish you the best time there and hope you have the kind of magical experience we did!
I'm not overstating when I say that this house achieves the ideal. I could live there for the rest of my life. My wife and I spent NYE here with dear friends, cooking lobster and playing monopoly by the fire place. Then, on the January 2nd, after our friends had left, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary watching the moon rise and waves crash. So friggin romantic. Waking up in the master bedroom with magnificent views of the ocean. So many spacious rooms for friends/kids. Huge bubble bath. Great eats in Greenport. I have not seen it in summer with beach and pool, but for us, it's a winter paradise. Definitely be back.
One of the best in Orient
My family stayed in the house this summer for 2 months and had an amazing time. The house is massive; we were able to host 2 other families during a few weekends with lots of room to spare. The top level has a perfect view of the water and sunset. On cold nights we lit fired in the fireplace, on warm nights we BBQed outside on the deck. We've yet to find a better house in the north fork, including Orient, East Marion, Greenport, etc. Our daily routine consisted of trips to the playground at Orient State Park for our two year old, the carousel in Greenport, wine at Kontokosta, berry picking at Oyster Pond, breakfast at Fork and Anchor... The master bathroom is especially excellent, with a huge tub and high pressure shower. We wish we had that in Manhattan!
The northfork is great, Orient is the best part of the North Fork, and this house may be the best part of Orient. Highly recommended.
We loved staying at this beautiful house, super well decorated and very clean.. extremely comfortable, there is a dream kitchen there and all amenities make your stay extremely comfortable. we look forward to going back at some point again, the owners are very lovely and take care of anything that might come up! We loved our time there, very peaceful and gorgeous.
The Perfect Weekend
My husband and I stayed here as part of a long weekend with another couple and three young children; it was our first time visiting the North Fork and the house was absolutely perfect inside and out -- spacious (plenty of room for two toddlers to run wild), extremely comfortable, great flow, and beautiful views. Although the house is very private, it's a short and pretty drive to Greenport, where we had a fantastic lunch and really enjoyed the town. The owners thought of every convenience and the drive to and from Manhattan (where we live) was incredibly easy. Will definitely come back!
