Adorable, light and bright cottage with Xtra Large master bedroom and cozy loft
About sandra flood
My husband and I fell in love with Idyllwild two years ago when we began coming up to get away from our busy life in San Diego where we own two busy retail stores. We purchased our first cabin just a year ago and began renting it in February of this year on VRBO and airbandb. The response to our other property has been so great that we can hardly book time for ourselves there so we decided to purchase another!

Why sandra flood chose Idyllwild
This cabin is full of charm. On the market only a few days when we found it, we made an offer on it sight unseen! The space has a warm and enchanting feel to it. It's quiet, yet close enough to town to walk. You will love spending hours on the deck right outside the master bedroom. The pitched ceiling and chandelier in master make it extraordinary.

Had a amazing time
We were very comfortable and loved our wonderful stao
Very cute cabin just far enough away from town
This was a very cute cabin about a mile from town. Avoids lots of the main traffic. Perfect getaway for us. Quiet and peaceful to enjoy nature.
This place was perfect for our anniversary trip. Great location! Close to trails, yet also close to town. The spa was amazing on the chilly nights in the snow. Owners were a pleasure to work with, very nice people! We will certainly never stay anywhere else in Idyllwild.
Clean and cosy
Very easy check-in. Great communication with owner. Sparkly clean. The cabin had the feeling of a nice hotel suite. The main bedroom with the king-sized bed was super comfortable. The village centre is just a 12 to 15-minute walk away.
Most others would've given it a five-star rating but I'm a hard marker - five stars means perfect. The reason this cabin was not perfect was that the living space wasn't practically laid out. The four of us had to hang out around the kitchen table for the most part because when we were in the living room we couldn't all see each other, due to the way the furniture was laid out.
There were loads of games to play with, but only one or two were useable because pieces were missing from the rest - annoying.
We visited Idyllwild for three days of hiking but ended up staying in the cabin for the most part because the rain was so torrential. If four of us weren't stuck in the cabin so much, I'm sure the furniture layout and games situation wouldn't have been such an issue.
Despite the weather, we had an amazing and comfortable weekend. If there were just two of us instead of four, I'd definitely stay here again.
No running water, no refund
Issues with host that really put a damper on a weekend getaway. More details follow, but the primary issue is that when we arrived there was no running water in the house. By the time we discovered the issue it was nearly 10pm. I used the bathroom soon after arrival and there was still water to flush and I guess enough water in the wall pipe to wash my hands. A few hours later, no water coming out of any faucet (we'd arrived just before 7 pm and unpacked and were all involved in building a puzzle).I'd already contacted owner a few times by then-there was nothing in the instructions on how to unlock the hot tub, and we were looking for firewood to build a fire, but they didn't provide that. When we talked about the water she said she had no idea why that would be, that she'd just been at the cabin earlier that day and there was water. Later, her husband called and said he was sure his wife had let us know the pipes had frozen earlier in the week but that it seemed fine that day (she had not disclosed). He walked me through trying to turn on the water supply from the house source and city source, with no luck. They said they'd send a handyman in the morning, which they did. The handyman came and let us know that the pipes were frozen and he'd maybe be back late afternoon. That certainly wasn't going to work, so I started researching where we could move with a dog. We called around that am with the dog and had to pay quite a lot for a new place at the last minute.I contacted owner to request a refund, which she agreed to via text, and has now notified me she will not provide.*I am submitting a complaint to VRBO/Home Away with screen shots of convos and will update to reflect how the company handles it.
This guest's claims that we knew about a problem prior to their arrival is false. We would never allow a guest to check into one of our properties if there was any chance of a problem with a basic necessity. We were on property the morning this guest checked in and everything was in perfect order. The problem, a faulty water pressure regulator, was detected and resolved by a plumber by 11AM the morning after the guest reported it. Unfortunately, the guest gave us less than an hour the morning after we discovered there was a problem before notifying us she was leaving and would not accept alternative accommodations that we had available and offered to her. We contacted VRBO support and they were the ones that determined that she was not entitled to a refund because she had vacated the property without contacting them and would not answer my phone calls or theirs to accept any assistance. Had she given us just a little more time to have the situation properly assessed by our plumber after our handyman was unable, she would have been able to resume her stay with minimal interruption. Our plumber was able to fix the problem with our regulator and the water was flowing by 11:00 AM. We realize that not having water in the middle of the night was inconvenient, but I think we demonstrated our commitment as hosts by our immediate responses to the guest’s messages late Friday night staying in contact past 11:30 PM, and were very proactive about trying (and shortly thereafter) getting it diagnosed and fixed by 11AM the next morning. I was taken by surprise to get her text that she was checking out by 9:45 Saturday morning without any conversation about her plans to find alternative accommodations. Had she informed me of her intentions, we would have immediately been able to see what other cabins we own were available. VRBO policy is that hosts be given a reasonable opportunity to remedy a problem. If they cannot, they are permitted to find a suitable replacement property which we did, and are allowed by their policy to do. VRBO agreed with me that 45 minutes was not a reasonable amount of time to allow a host to fix a problem before deciding to leave.
Beautiful location in a quiet neighborhood. Walk to town or nearby trail heads. Enjoy evenings and mornings watching and listening to birds and squirrels on the wrap around deck right outside your bedroom. French doors from the bedroom open up to tree views and the sound of a trickling water fountain. You will sleep like a baby in this peaceful retreat.
