About Sheila Riso
My family , The Riso's, are from New Orleans LA. and like many NOLA residents , my grandfather Dominic Riso had an old fashioned camp on the beach in Pass Christain in the 50's ... I grew up hearing stories about the coast and my fathers years at Gulf Coast Military Academy soooo, I guess I have my Grandfathers Gulf Coast fever and have planned for years to move to the Coast. I purchased this property in Bay St Louis August 2013 and completed renovations May 2015 keeping as much of the old as I could while adding the new. This is an owner occupied property with guest suites. I love Bay St Louis and will help you in any way I can.
Sheila Riso purchased this House in 2013
Why Sheila Riso chose Bay Saint Louis
I also bought this property because I love older homes and Pink Heron was built in 1938. It has beautiful patina hard wood floors and the original charm of that period construction. It is a typical American House with 9ft ceilings, crown molding and solid tight construction. It's raised on Piers and did not Flood or sustain any damage during Katrina or any other storm. I have renovated many homes and this is my favorite so far.
What makes this House unique
Bay St Louis is a " Place Apart" ... Walk/bike ride to Main street on the beach ... Fun place to shop for clothes, local artist work & antiques, Second Saturday Art Walk every month ...Lots of Festivals... Lots of Restaurants for breakfast, lunch, dinner ... Bay St Louis has a real Artisan Bakery on Main Street and they serve breakfast too ....Lots of fun events at X Mass...Cemetery Tour on Halloween...Casinos in Bay St Louis all the way Biloxi ... Local Fishing...Great Seafood...New Tea Room for Lunch on Uhlman - adjacent street... YOGA 7 days a week all levels every day ... Massage therapist on Main... AND Pedicabs ... want could be more fun that taking a Pedicab Tour...The Mockingbird Cafe on Second St has great Baristas' and was voted best coffee house in Ms: they host open mike nights, a monthly art market and a fun run every thursday -- most saturdays live music. ( tip - kid friendly , parents bring your kids but Sr can and will enjoy Date Nite! Everyone is friendly and Bay St Louis is a real community. There is so much to do in the on the Coast ... but, it you stay and relax in the "Bay "you will come again and again.

Really nice place, perfect for two adults and two kids. Bed was comfortable, liked that they have washer & dryer in bath room; kitchen is real small but who wants to cook (we ate out); nice living room dining room combination. Enjoyed out stay. Thanks!
Great guests , please come again
Very cute and comfortable place. This was our first venture using VRBO and the like and could not have turned out better. This property is half of an entire house with someone living in the other our portion being the half facing Carroll Ave. This was not an issue and everyone was respectful of the night hours. There was plenty of space with a small well but equipped kitchen,be sure to bring some K-cups if you are a coffee drinker. It is very nicely done and this was so much better than a plain hotel room. The house is within walking distance to the beach, shopping and dining, but a good walk if you are older. There is a grocery store within easy driving around the corner and we had more fun with our nieces at the splash park virtually across the street. The only thing I would have wished for were some darker window shades and the parking was a little tight but certainly not unmanageable unless you have a big truck. We were very pleased and would not hesitate to stay again next time we are in BSL.
A First for Us
This place is ok. Its a bit out dated and old for sure. Like my son sat on the ottoman and dust flew everywhere. The bed is very cozy though. The front door has a huge crack in it you can see through. There is a kuerig but no pods or refill pod - we had to go buy one which I did not mind but since the owner has not kept her word from the start I am going to tell it now and am ill about it. But what was the beginning of our stay is what was unreal. Check in is at 3, i did not pay attention to the check in time - thats my fault, but the owner said I could come early if cleaning was done. Got to Bay early so messed around until 3 because nothing was ready and I was not let known this until I nearly got there (I am coming 3 hours away). Got there and there are clothes and bags ALL outside the porch. The room is not ready AT ALL. The people staying there was allowed to check out late. Apparently miscommunication there. I had food etc - now the cleaning lady was above and beyond nice and helpful. I let the owner know and she promised to come by and give us a gift card or refund for our trouble as I had to leave again because nothing was ready. Never seen her the WHOLE time. Then 3 days in another person staying in the back came up to me because he could not get intouch with the owner or anyone and he has no clue how to check in or where a key was or anything. He hoped I worked there. Uh no but I VRBO messaged her for him, might as well work there lol! Because of so much that happened in the beginning and the miscommunication I covered myself and took pictures of the place before and after just because. I just did not feel comfortable AT all! I even swept and washed everything after we left - just not comfortable with the situation or neglected promises. Even promised a refund after we left and still haven't seen that either. Thank goodness I truly needed a coffee pot at work lol!
The check in issue was due to the current guest not checking out on time. We made several attempts starting early that day to find them to check out their personal belongings so we could have the unit ready on time at 3 for your check in. We finally made a decision late in the day to put there belongs on the porch so we could complete the cleaning. I offered a refund as professional courtesy for the late check in and I will follow up with you as it was mailed a while back. I am surprised as to the complaint regarding " small kitchen..... the pictures of the kitchen and language
on the site specifies a " euro" kitchen with no
oven and it was designed for small cooking needs only. My home was renovated only 3 years ago and the decor is meant to be
old fashioned and comfy . The only difference in actual unit and the pics are a new green velvet sofa.
I am sorry that Pink Heron p did not meet your
expectionations and i feel that it was my fault since i was not on site for your visit. i wish you had a better experience but i am glad to hear that you loved our city.
Good luck to you and your family
Cute house, cute town
Our family of 4 stayed here for a week while we enjoyed Bay St. Louis and the surrounding area. This is a charming old house that has been divided into two dwellings. It is the perfect size to be comfortable with kids, has a great location close to restaurants, cute shops, and the water front, and it has a washer/dryer! It was really nice to not return home with a bunch of laundry to do.
The kitchen is very small, but functional if you’re just doing basic things like making coffee and simple meals.
Bay St. Louis is charming and artsy, with beautiful homes and moss hanging from the trees. What a gem! If you do go outside of town, you’re close enough to enjoy New Orleans or most of the gulf. We went from New Orleans all the way to Dauphin Island, AL while there. Great exploring!
If you have younger kids, there is a great little park with a splash pad across the street!
My only complaint- and that’s really too strong a word- is the we received no communication from VRBO or the owner before we got there and, other than the actual reservation which was made 6 weeks beforehand, it would have been nice to have that confirmation before we drove 2 states away- also we didn’t know where the key was, etc. I did call Sheila and she was responsive and friendly.
One note: you do share a wall with the people in the other part of the house and you may be able to hear them.
Despite little things, we had a 5 star experience. Thank you!
Great place. Perfect for weekend trip.
Lovely place to stay. Great living room and bathroom. Kitchen is cut and whole set up is spacious.
Welcomed by Owner. We had access to a grill and bicycles. Close to beach and local restaurants. Great time.
