Sunny 3 Bd Cottage Lakeside - great swimming - Aug and Sept dates, going fast!

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 1 bath, ON Harveys Lake - gorgeous mountain and hill views, foliage

In planning your next vacation, consider "Ansel Camp" on Harvey's Lake in West Barnet, Vermont. Surrounded by green grassy rolling hills reminiscent of Switzerland and dotted with hundreds of cows and farm animals, this location is a slice of heaven. No traffic lights, no big box or department stores, this is one place where you can relax and slow down. Once you've stayed a few days, you won't want to leave.

Ansel Camp is a newly renovated 3- bedroom, one-bathroom cottage located just 10 feet from the shore of Harvey's Lake. "Lakeside" has real meaning! You can hear the lake lap its shore from the dining room and porch bedroom areas -- very relaxing. Built in the 1950s, it is an open studded cottage situated on a double lot with 150 feet of water frontage. Its swimming area has an easy access with a shallow gradient, has sandy bottom (no rocks) -- perfect for young kids, older folks, and all who enjoy the water. The cottage enjoys the sun all day long, but there is also shade behind it during the afternoons.

The cottage is one story for easy living, and has an enclosed front porch dining area that offers spacious views of Harvey Mountain, and memorable sunsets overlooking Harvey's Lake. Behind it looking west, you'll see the beautiful farms and fields of Danville and Peacham. It has a well-supplied kitchen with fridge, range, and microwave. There is also a gas grill. It sleeps 6 (max.) in 3 bedrooms (two with full beds and the third room with two sets of bunks). For chilly evenings, a a new Rinnai heater can provide extra heat.

Outside, there is a firepit and outdoor chairs for roasting marshmallows under summer moons. An outdoor shower is perfect for warm weather. Listen to and watch the loons and their babies, or eagles, all day. The cottage is on a flat grassy area perfect for playing games, reading, or hanging out. Parking for no more than 3 cars at any time.

What makes this cottage unique

Its waterfront location makes it perfect for all water sports. Likewise, you can find hiking nearby on local trails, or make the short 40-minute drive to Franconia Notch, Appalachian trails and other amenities. Mountain bike from the door, or make the short 35-minute drive to Kingdom Trails in Burke, Vermont -- home of some great mountain biking circuits and great riders. Lovely farmers markets are close by, including the one in St. Johnsbury on Saturdays that sells fruits and vegetables, foods, clothes, crafts, and other interesting things. Go fishing right from the dock or head out on the lake for deeper access. Harvey's Lake is known for its huge trout. Lastly, there is no better spot for watching flocks of migrating birds rest on the lake than in the fall, with spectacular foliage highlighting the hills and fields to the west.

13 miles to St. Johnsbury, 25 miles to Lyndonville, 30 miles to Montpelier, 45 miles to Hanover, and 70 miles to Burlington.

Very neat and clean with lovely, rustic charm!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five truly enjoyed our stay here! The weather didn't cooperate as much as we would have preferred and there wasn't a tv so we made good use of the provided board games and puzzles! The kids (who are used to technology at their fingertips) loved the overall feel of the camp and we were able to kick back and unwind. Thank you so much for providing such a great place at an amazing price! The kids are already asking about coming back next year!

Very Comfortable Well Maintained Vermont Lake Camp

  • 5 of 5

Sue Jone's Vermont Camp (Cottage) on Harvey's Lake is perfect for a family or small group that wants to experience the traditional summer lake vacation. It is located on beautiful Harvey's Lake in northeastern Vermont. The Camp is sits on a large lot with significant lake frontage and lots of room for lawn games. It is nicely furnished and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for meal preparation and serving. There is a Rinnai wall heater for chilly nights and a Rinnai hot water heater for on demand hot water. There is also a full size washer and dryer in the camp.

I will strongly recommend Sue Jone's Vermont Camp to friends an family who are interested in enjoying a summer lake vacation in a perfect location..

great connection to nature

  • 5 of 5

This home and the owner were very welcoming and organized. My friend and I were at a retreat at the nearby Karmê Chöling center, and chose the place primarily on location. However, we were very pleased at how connected we felt to the lake and how peaceful it was. This home was very convenient to Karmê Chöling (a few miles away) and gave us some time to enjoy ourselves in a private space. My only regret is that we didn't stay an extra day to be able to spend more time on the water. I'd absolutely choose this place again if I come back to the area.

What a wonderful place in the NEK

  • 5 of 5

My daughters (8/6) and I booked a last minute trip to Ansel Camp and it couldn't have been more perfect. From the beginning, Sue was incredibly responsive and helpful in answering all our questions about local amenities and with last minute logistics. We arrived to a very tranquil setting on Harvey's Lake and the cabin was all ready for us, allowing us to immediately jump right into the lake. The cabin’s lake access is perfect for small kids and includes a dock perfect for a picturesque leap into the lake at sun set. Plus the lake bottom is friendly to little feet. The large yard is great for games, just running around or for outdoor relaxation. The cabin has all the amenities you need and the outdoor grill was very helpful in cranking out meals quickly. We spent most of our time at the lake but a couple quick trip back to the highway led us to some beautiful towns close by and views of the Northeast Kingdom, where there is plenty to explore. We visited D-N-D Stables in East Burke, VT for a horseback ride but then opted to go right back to Ansel Camp for more swimming and canoeing because we couldn't get enough. After a long-day of fun, we had relaxing nights around the fire pit making s'mores and then watch the Milky Way from the dock. Ansel Camp is truly is a great place to spend any amount of time!

Great location and tranquil lake setting

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very nice and clean. Well stocked with all the basic needs. We were able to slip in and start relaxing right away. A few day trips to areas near by during the rain and floating/lounging by the dock on the sunny days.

Sue was very gracious and responsive.

Owner's Response: Thank you, we're thrilled that you had a nice and relaxing time! In today's fast - paced world, it's nice to know that there are still quiet places like Harveys Lake to escape to, that are also a quick drive to fun and exciting things to do, too. The best of both worlds!
