Kim and I live in Alaska. We have been coming to Hawaii every year for 8 years now. We have been to all of the Islands but our favorite place is Kona. We rented at the Kona Islander in past years and when we decided to get a place of our own in Kona we were so pleased to purchase from a local Big Island couple that had the condo for there own private use. We look forward to coming once or twice a year until I retire and then we will come for a few months at a time
Greg purchased this Condo in 2015

BEST OF THE BEST---Location, Condo, Grounds, Views, Staff and VRBO.
Thank you thank you thank you for our stress free stay. Every one was always available for all needs. Even the owner GREG by phone or text to share our gratitude for his lovely Condo we felt at home in. It was great to wake up, fix coffee, walk out on the Lanai and sit for hours observing the beautiful landscaped grounds with all of the beautiful tropical plants, cute Gecko's, beautiful birds, a lawn to die for, lovely breezes and the ocean waves all right there outside of our ground floor. OH BUG FREE We had everything we needed to live in the Condo. Lots of towels and hair dryer, nice bathroom and shower, good kitchen with coffee pot, toaster, two burner hot plate, adequate small fridge, lg. double sink and plenty of utensils etc. for eating in, TV, WI-FI, very adequate air-conditioner, cute tropical decorating throughout. My daughter and I walked to everything in Kona including the Market place less than a block away, great shopping and oodles of wonderful restaurants for fun eating and dining. We walked to a fantastic Luau with the ocean behind outdoor stage. Food was great especially the in ground roasted Pig. Walked and saw Sea Turtles grazing on Plankton around Lava rocks, walked to an outside bar and restaurant on decking and sand. fun, fun, fun.... Experienced a Ukulele Jam session with lots of Ukulele's, with singing and a male and female dancers. My Niece took us to a fantastic Coffee Plantation and Learned so much. Had fresh Kona made coffee. I have a sister that lives in residential assisted living in Kona and we trudged up the hill to visit her and share some meals with her and some residents. It was wonderful to spend some time with her and my Niece. The Kona Islander is the best. Quiet, clean, great sitting areas, pool, BBQ area, Lobby lounging and porch's to sit and enjoy Tropicana at our fingertips. No more searching for us. We found it all here. As you read my review please know that I am expressing how I feel about this unit with not one prompt from a soul. I have been to Kona multiple times and this visit at the Islander was the best. ALOHA, ALOHA, ALOHA.
Perfect location with above and beyond service!
Greg’s property is the best location on the island. It is a stones throw away from restaurants, shops and tour info.
The apartment was neat and had the added bonus of parking. We were very fortunate to be on the big island during King Kamehameha celebrations and were able to view the parade from the lanai.
Even after we had left Greg’s service was above and beyond. We had left some very important items which he has helped us recover and has organised to send it back to us.
We cannot be more thankful for the service that we received during and after our stay.
You can’t go wrong booking with Greg!
Perfect for my husband, son and I. Stayed for three weeks and had everything we needed. Don’t miss the sunsets right across the street every night!
Convenient to everything...no need for a car if staying in Kona.
A very convenient place to stay...could walk everywhere we wanted to go. This picture is accurate, unlike some other listings; taken right on the little lanai at our breakfast table. The studio was fine, nothing fancy. Had noisy young 20 crowd in the building adjoining ours who partied late, not the owners' fault. Street traffic is noisy late...and then early. Price very fair.
Exactly as advertised, completely satisfied. Everything was well explained, so few questions, but those I had were very promptly answered.
Kona Property Is As Advertised
This unit at the Kona Islander Inn is clean, snug, secure and centrally located for easy walks to the many wonderful restaurants and shopping areas nearby. The grounds are lovely and being on the first floor was very convenient. We particularly enjoyed being close to the farmers' market (papayas!!) about half a block away. The secure Wifi provided by the unit's owner was a huge plus for us, as well. The owner was extremely responsive to questions or concerns when contacted via text - another plus.
Parking has been mentioned as an issue. We would label it "challenging" at times since, mathematically, there are too few on-site parking spaces for the number of units in the facility. Additional free parking is available fairly close by, but not having a guaranteed parking spot on-site could be stressful for some. Overall, in our opinion, the benefits to this rental far outweigh any perceived negatives.
Located down town Kailua Kona across from Bubba Gumps, only 1/2 mile to the Kailua pier, where the Ironman Triathlon begins. Walk to the farmer's market(1/2 block) for fresh tropical fruits, Kona Coffee and gifts. All the down town waterfront shops and restaurants are to the left or right of the complex on Alii dr located approximately between the pier and Huggos. Catch the Shuttle only 4 miles to Kahaluu beach for some of the best year-round snorkeling on the island.
Relax on the ground floor lanai overlooking Kailua Bay. Enjoy watching the people walk by, cruise ships coming , watch the spectacular Ocean Sunsets.
The Kona Islander Inn features include tropical gardens, a gated pool and hot tub area with 2 large BBQ grills. The grounds and the lobby are beautiful with the ambience of old native Hawaii. Hawaiian plants meandering throughout the complex add to the relaxation you feel just being there. There is a 24hr coin operated laundry facility is located on site. Almost everything you will want to do down town Kona is within walking distance past the complex gate on Alii dr.
