Really nice! Exceeded expectations.
Place was immaculate, very quiet at night, comfortable. Cozy (meaning not spacious) but well-appointed and very adequate for our needs, with space for stretching/exercise, what looked like a very decent kitchen space, good bathroom. Host was very responsive when the key didn't work on arrival and had allowed us to check in a bit early. Parking on a Saturday was very easy (may not always be the case). This is on the third floor with somewhat narrow stairs (at least compared to what we are used to) so physical limitations could make access challenging but we had no problems. Some street noise during the afternoon at one point (neighbors verbally fighting) but that might not be common. Would stay there again.
Extremely comfortable space
I was a bit leery, this was my first VRBO rental experience and the price for location, and space seemed too good to be true. Two of us stayed here, and we got our own space. Parking (alternate street parking) was easy and accessing the unit key was simple with the instructions provided. Opening the door was a bit tricky, but we got in. Later, we returned to the apartment it almost seemed like we had the wrong key, the front door would not open! Have no fear if this happens to you. I really felt this was worth mentioning, we called the emergency contact and she explained the key needed to be turned the opposite way, and twice the rotation. Very counterintuitive, but it worked! Don't fret if this happens to you! Can't stress that enough. The apartment had tooth paste and bath products in case you didn’t happen to drive with those items. Plenty of hand soap for replenishing the restroom, plenty of toilet paper, and a kitchenette with full size fridge. The location is walking distance to transportation, and so many great food options near! We had Sylvia's for breakfast one morning and it was just a short walk away. I tend to usually stay in hotels in NYC because I worry how comfortable these vacation rental places might be in such a transit city, this time i took the chance because we didn't plan to spend much time in the hotel/VRBO anyhow. So glad we took the chance! Comfort was not lost, and we did spend most of our NYC time "out and about". Even still, this space had a kitchenette and dining area that we could have utilized if we had wanted to, what a luxury in the city to have this for such a competitive price. Stay in this brownstone, converted apartment - comfortable and great for the price, just not too often - I want to be able to come back! Thank you to the host for her communication (clear instructions) and for being my first to host me. I'll be back!
As advertised...no issues...
The apartment is as advertised and it checks all of the boxes. Clean, comfortable, good Internet connection, subway easily accessible, a nice supply of household items, and the basics for making coffee. I'll give a kudos to the bath towels - maybe not St. Regis quality, but far better than Holiday Inn Express (or any otrher rental property that I have stayed). The owner/manager provided clear check-in and check-out instructions and was immediately responsive (within 30 minutes).
If you walk out of the property, to the left, and then make a right on to Lenox Avenue, the subway is at 125th/Lenox. In addition, there are the famous restaurants of Harlem, a Whole Foods, as well as several local stores. (I used a local store to buy breakfast items vs. Whole Foods.)
Note that I am writing this as a solo traveler. And I surmise that NYer's are a bit used to tight quarters so I do not intend to be negative - just a different perspective. This apartment, with a significant other, would be perfect for a NYC visit. I can't imagine having more than 3 people (someone on the couch in the living room), but certainly not 5 people in the apartment unless everyone was really really good friends. Maybe in college when money was tight and I shared hotel rooms with others...
It was a nice apartment and It was in the heart of Lower Manhattan.
The apartment extremely clean and the host was extremely nice. I had a question and the host responded promptly. I would recommend this apartment to any who needs a nice and reliable place to stay.
