Situated at the end of a quiet road, in a picturesque neighborhood is this quaint, water front cottage; the perfect combination of quintessential lake experience with all the conveniences of modern living. The original structure dates back to 1897 and has been updated with all the modern amenities.
Upon arrival you will enter the screened-in back porch equipped with rocking chairs that overlook the garden replete with mountain laurel and English Ivy. French doors open to the dining room, which flows into a modern kitchen with dishwasher, electric stove, updated refrigerator, microwave oven and an island for casual meals. Walking through the dining room brings you to the living room, preserved from the original 1897 structure visible in the ceiling beams and the paneling, but updated with hardwood flooring and fireplace. Off this room is the cozy study, perfect for reading, resting or playing one of the board games found in the cupboard on a rainy afternoon. Beyond the living room is the sun-room. A large tiled area enclosed with sliding glass doors on three sides, a dining area for enjoying meals while taking in the panoramic view of the lake. There is a small dry-bar and a lovely sitting area for relaxing, entertaining or watching television. Through the sliding glass doors is the large deck, complete with deck furniture, adjacent to a quaintly decorated courtyard. on either side of the deck are stairs that lead to the water on one side and the dock on the other.
The second floor is accessed from a curling staircase off the living room. There are three bedrooms, each with views of beautiful Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (a.k.a. Webster Lake). Try that three times fast! Occupants of the two front bedrooms can open the windows at night and drift gently to sleep with the soft sounds of waves lapping the shore. Additionally, the second has a half-bath with washer and dryer and my husband's favorite features, an old-fashioned pull-chain toilet and pedestal sink. The spacious master suite includes a full-size canopy bed, two walk-in closets and walk-in laundry room. In the bedroom at the top of the stairs there is a full size bed and the third bedroom contains twin beds, a loft and a small sitting deck accessed by a sliding-glass door and spiral staircase.
