Unique Designer Home Nestled In Upscale Quiet Lush South Grove Neighborhood
Seldom available, impeccable, fully equipped designer home with custom wood floors/furniture & full kitchen in quiet, safe & upscale Miami residential neighborhood. 1km from downtown Grove & Marina and minutes from Key Biscayne, Gables & downtown. Lush backyard with BBQ, outside eating & huge, brand-new teak deck. Enjoy the newly built outside shower/toilet, workout area, custom built dining table & lounge areas. Hassle-free parking.
Welcome to my beloved home! It was a teardown that I built with all my love from scratch. It has teak that I remember my father planting back in Costa Rica when I was a kid. My brother selected the trees to cut, dried, cured and finished with my family's business wood finishes. It was imported just for this precious sacred space. I built the adjacent studio for friends and family & make it available way more often.
Enjoy a custom built & spotless new kitchen and bathroom with an amazing shower... new stainless steel appliances, free Wi-Fi, custom built imported wood furniture, washer & dryer, sparkling teak corridors & floor throughout, new alarm system, new air conditioning & new hurricane windows. Relax in the 8,000 SF tropical yard with orchids, plantain trees, large royal palm, royal poinciana, gumbo limbo, oak, almond, areca & banana trees, often visited by peacocks & parrots. There is also a huge deck and a recently finished tikki hut. My home is ideal for an individual or a couple & could accommodate 3 (+1 would be in the sofa which is spacious and comfortable). There is front door free parking for about 4 cars.
The amenities are for guest(s) only and no parties allowed on the property unless it is specially booked for a party ($250/hr & $150 cleaning)

About Catarina Jimenez
I was born & raised in Costa Rica and came to the US for my studies. Have lived in Germany, England and Los Angeles & have been very fortunately to have travelled extensively. All my family is still in Costa Rica, which I consider home in addition to Miami. Travel, movement, adventure, and making the world a better place are some of my passions.
Catarina Jimenez purchased this House in 2010
Why Catarina Jimenez chose Southwest Coconut Grove
This is a very special place. I bought it as a foreclosure when it had been abandoned for many years. It took me more than a year to remove all liens. When I attempted to change the roof, it all fell. Soon after I received a notice from the city that it was going to be demolished. After negotiating with the city for the right to fix it, I gutted everything except for the outside cement walls and the floor. It took many trucks of soil to fill in the lake in the back after the overgrown "jungle" was cleared up... It was labor of love to redo everything everything from kitchen, bathrooms, hurricane windows, A/C, electric, plumbing, sewer connection, trusses, roof, alarm, walls. The day I finished it, I left to Africa to volunteer for a few months after quitting my job. I came back to do a storage shed, the back & front wood fences and my front landscaping. I'm now focused on the last stage - an amazing teak wood deck for my guests & I to enjoy the beautiful foliage the area has to offer. It almost feels like back home in Costa Rica...
What makes this House unique
Probably the most special feature is the teak wood throughout. It was planted by my dad when we were kids and by a gentleman I know. My brothers helped cut the trees & then finished it with the wood finishes created by the family business in Costa Rica. If you love tranquility, green, orquids, plantain trees & big open patios with wood decks, you will love my home.

Wow, we were blown away
My husband and I were so impressed with this home. It was everything we could have asked for and more. We walked to Coconut Grove every day and loved sitting on the back patio bird watching. I felt so lucky to be able to stay in this incredible home. I will definitely be back.
Thanks so much for such kind words Carolyn. Loved having you home & can't wait to meet you next time!
A peaceful and inviting place to stay on an excellent location.
This spacious apartment is filled with Asian, African and South American influences, memories and colours, giving it a very personal flavour. Catarina obviously wants you to feel welcome and at home. The cleaning of the garden furniture could have been slightly better. Bed and shower are great! A place to return to.
Home away from home! Hands down my favorite place to stay in Miami.
Thanks Catarina for your hospitality! What a beautiful home! Walking distance to all the bars/restaurants. The backyard is stunning and a perfect place to lounge. I couldn't ask for a better stay!!!
I stayed in Coconut Grove to attend a wedding. While I was not able to take full advantage of the room, it was a wonderful alterative to an impersonal hotel. The location was easy to find and access from the airport even though it was hidden in a lush forest environment clos to restaurants and clubs. From it you can access University of Miami and Vizcaya Gardens within 5-10 minutes. the room supplies a wonderfully romantic location with all the comforts of home and more. It would be ideal for a honeymoon or a weekend getaway for a couple interested in sun and warmth in Florida. The outdoor area was very inviting. I only wish the weather had been warmer so I could have taken full advantage of it.
