Frank and Romy were great hosts.
The suite and home were beautiful. Frank and Romy shared the views and living space with us but we stayed mostly in the downstairs suite. We had a 2 block walk to the Repertory Theater which was where our daughter was working. It was perfect for us.
A lovely house on a steep hill
Bella Vista is a unique house with a great view of the city, and Frank is a gracious host. It is a rather unusual situation with the guests renting one bedroom/bathroom, but with access to the large beautiful living/dining/kitchen area. We felt a little awkward about being in the hosts’ personal space, but they are used to sharing it.
It was nice to prepare and eat our simple breakfast in that lovely area.
One irritation was that the screens on the windows go down automatically in the sun, and they suddenly went down just as I was enjoying the view on our 3rd morning.
The location is on a steeper street than we expected, and as senior citizens, we had a hard time going down and up the hill. All services — the market, bus stop, restaurants, etc. are down the hill.
The bed in our bedroom was very comfortable. The temperature of the room was on automatic control and occasionally was too cold or too hot.
The bathroom is spacious with double sinks. However, the shower head is really high, out of my average reach.
Our granddaughter joined us for one night in the den with a sofa hide-a-bed. It was nice to be able to accommodate her, but we felt that the $75. additional charge was quite high, especially considering that we had to make up the bed ourselves.
In summary, Bella Vista was a special place for me to experience my native city again, but at our age, we would not stay there again, because of the difficulty of the location on the steep hill.
thank you for your comments. Sounds like overall you had a very enjoyable stay at and positive impression of Bella Vista, despite you numerous concerns.
I am sorry that you felt that the half block with a 15 degree incline to my house was "a steep hill". If you had told me in advance that your husband had a walking disability, I probably had advised you against staying here. None of the many other guests, like me, also senior citizens, had complained about the short incline.
Regarding the shower head, again, I'm sorry. I would have been more than happy to adjust it. All you needed to do is ask me.
And finally, concerning the 1 night stay of your adult grand daughter, you may recall that we decided to let her decide whether she would prefer to sleep on the sleeper sofa or a futon, and therefore just left the bedding on the sofa so she could use the sheets accordingly. $75 for one night, including the cleaning fees, sounds like a bargain to me.
Sincerely, your host Frank
No better views...
This home wasn't just beautiful, it is located in a part of Seattle that is second to none. The home is less than a 10-minute walk to the Space Needle and overlooks the water at the same time. One of the owners was there and she gave us our space to enjoy the home and also spent one of the evenings with us and where we made dinner from our purchases at Pikes Market which added to the fun of spending time at the market. We can't imagine a better place to stay in all of Seattle. Thank you!
sorry for my late reply to thank you for your wonderful review. I've been very busy since my return from Asia, but Romi told me all about you guys and how much you all had a good time together. I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit to Seattle and Bella Vista.
Next time you come back to Seattle, I sure hope to be here to meet you, too.
