Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

A Victorian dream. Go back into time with modern comforts. My home is a walk into the past, with two parlors (living rooms), dining room, eat in kitchen, two and half bathrooms, one with a steam sauna (location-bomb shelter!), and four beautiful bedrooms. I am located two blocks from the Central City Opera House and three blocks from Main Street and one mile from Black Hawk. My home is a shoe free, shoes off at the door!

My home was built in 1875-78 (exact date not known) by an ex-slave, Jeremiah Lee. Jeremiah was stopped by the local banker, Thomas Potter, and this home was built and lived in first by the Potters (wife was a red head, as am I). Bankers were not to be trusted if they could live in a mansion. The Lees moved into their home six years later upon Mr. Potters death. The best part of the story Lees sent their children to school in the 1870's, they were sent home because of their color, the mayor heard this and went down to the school and told the principle these children will be attending! Central City should be on the map for having one of the first unsegregated schools in America. Emily Lee, wife of Jeremiah was placed on the title of this home. The pink bedroom was wall papered by none other than Emily at the turn of the last century! Most of the wall paper in the home is original. I personally stripped back the layers above the mantel in the front parlor. The Lee's were also recognized as Colorado Pioneers.

Central City is a historical gem and my home is a part of that greatness.

I offer a home for you that is complete with two rotten no good cats. They can be here or go with me. But if you want them to stay, they do expect your servitude! OB-1, the black and white cat expects doors to be opened and closed for his enjoyment of the outdoor world. Marie, the tabby, appreciates a can of food every day! I provide the food, you provide your love and attention. I do not let the cats upstairs, so if you allergies, I have an Ionizer and a HEPA rated vacuum. Most are not allergic to cats but their saliva, therefore they get baths monthly to keep allergies at bay.

I have lovingly put all my energies into restoring this home. My furnishings are unique and fit my dreams. My favorite children's book is Mr Plumbean and the Big Orange Splot, for this quote: "My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams."

This is not your typical get away in the mountains. If you're wanting to create a escape from the typical, this is the home for you!
