Good view from afar but up close things were amiss. Great fishing experience though.

We looked forward to fishing, kayaking, canoeing, bike riding and grilling. The fishing was great! We were not able to canoe and kayak the first day as a group due to missing kayak paddle BUT the owner was very prompt to send two next day, which we appreciated very much. Sadly the bikes were unrideable due to flat and split tires....we had to get a bike pump to make one of the three useable. The grill was rushed almost all the way through the bottom, so we could only use once. The stove, microwave and fridge looked new, however the fridge had something left in it from previous stays that left a horrible smell everyone it was opened. The day we left we found the source an opened package of a hard boiled egg that was left to rot. We disposed of it to save the next renters the grief of the smell we had. The fire pit was overflowing with brush and debris so we did not get to use that either, unless we wanted to clean it out. The last day it rained and the cottage leaked in one area, luckily not over any ones bed. The bathroom was very clean and spacious which was a relief. We were able to use the coffee pot (once we cleaned out old moldy grinds and washed) but only the first day. Could not get it to work the second day and ended up getting coffee the last four mornings from the close Kwik Shop down the road. The cottage was full of cobwebs on outside and folding chairs were webby and dirty as well. No privacy in the way of dividers and thin walls are reason for this. Wi-Fi worked great and offset some of the downtime we had. The best aspect of this cottage was the fishing and close proximity to Saugatuck and South Haven. The owners we believe are good people who seem to want to give a good experience but maybe due to distance and not being able to personally check on the details are not quite giving the full experience it could have. We probably will try somewhere else next time. Not extremely bad but not great either. Could be great place but just not there yet.

A True Gem just off the beaten path.

After many visits to Saugatuck we decided to go more "rustic". After much trolling we kept coming back to this wonderful authentic cottage, being drawn into the photo of the Pier and Adirondack love seat, with visions of fishing in our heads. Luckily we were able to book it, as this fantasy did not disappoint. Everything photographed is 20 times better in person. Clean, comfy, well equipped, has everything you need and then some! The Super comfy King bed was a treat! Location is awesome. Everything you may need is 1 mile away on the, fruit, groceries, bait...etc. while this cottage is large with several beds, it was just the two of us and was still PERFECT. The lake is so beautiful and quiet! People are out fishing and swimming and playing at a perfectly relaxed pace. We can't say enough and we're able to make fun and lasting memories for our Anniversary weekend. Plus we caught 19 large mouth Bass and we don't fish! Now we are hooked! Can't wait to return. Thank you Dunscombs for keeping the integrity of this Family treasure. As a guest, you can feel the love.
