About the property

2 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

Escape to Vashon and have a real Island experience with just a 15 minute ferry ride from West Seattle or Tacoma. It has been said that Vashon Island is a place you can B-R-E-A-T-H-E! Our little Asian style sanctuary with a view from every room, is just the place to do this. Just two minutes from the ferry dock, atop a hill for breathtaking views of the Puget Sound. Enjoy your morning coffee in the company of local wildlife like deer, eagles and raccoons. Or perhaps a glass of evening wine on the deck, seasoned with a glorious sunset over the Puget Sound. Watch cruise ships leaving Elliot Bay for Canada and Alaska, international cargo ships heading to Tacoma, sailboats regattas, and ferry’s crossing from Vashon and beyond. You have everything you need including a fully equipped kitchen and barbeque, for cooking and dining. Should you not desire to cook, Vashon has a variety of restaurants, bakeries, market deli’s, café’s, and coffee or tea shops, where you will find many locals love to congregate.

When you’re ready to get out and explore, it won’t take you long to find a beach to swim, picnic or beach comb, a trail to hike or bird watch, a quiet road to bike, or rent a kayak and float the many coves and bays surrounding the island. There is always something going on in Vashon whether it is a first Friday art show, a new movie at the theater, a speaker at the book store, festivals, Saturday Market, a music concert and on and on. Several local wineries’ offer tastings including one in our neighborhood. If you need a little pampering, a massage studio is right across the street! Should you decide to venture into Seattle for a day of sightseeing, a weekday water taxi is just 2 minutes away to whisk you to downtown Seattle where you can visit Pike Place Market, dine at waterside seafood restaurants and explore historic Seattle.

Comfortable home with excellent views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Jan’s home on Vashon Island. The home is close to the ferry, easy to find, well-kept, and comfortable. We had everything we needed during our stay. The location on the north end of the island was perfect for us. The views of the water and Seattle are lovely, and it was an easy trip into Vashon for shopping or dining.

We made this trip over the 4th of July weekend, so it was very busy in Seattle. My husband and I enjoyed the quiet of the house and our son (age 11) liked the deer that came around the house every morning. It was fun to sit inside and watch the activity on the water, open the doors for a cross-breeze, and enjoy the view while cooking. We would happily stay here again if we venture to Vashon in the future. Thanks, Jan!

Excellent choice for a relaxing getaway.

  • 5 of 5

As a group of long time very close friends who have been separated by distance and circumstances, we were looking for a casual place to relax and reconnect. This was ideal. The house is quite comfortable, the setting is spectacular. A couple of us went no further than town, which has a very impressive independent bookstore. 2 others took the water taxi to Seattle for the day, picked up fresh fish and produce for dinner. Watching the ever changing weather patterns over the Seattle skyline was an unforgettable experience, topped off with snow on our last morning there.

Great view but aged and small space

  • 3 of 5

If your looking for a place to stay and not a vacation for three people not five then this is the place for you. There was coffee but not tea. There was butter but not cream. The accommodation was clean but very old, worn and aged. There are really only 2 bedrooms. Sleeping 5 is a stretch unless they are children sleeping together.

great location and view -- dated home

  • 3 of 5

it is a fine basic rental with a superb view of Puget Sound -- maybe a half mile up hill from the ferry. It has one large bedroom and a smaller room with a day bed -- and a two-sink shared bathroom between them. Luckily the shower /bath is one of the few updated parts of the house. It is otherwise a dated house from the '60's -- functional but not fancy . The deer come up multiple times /day to eat the apples and peaches from the trees in the front yard and that is cool. I think the price is reasonable if you want to stay on the island.
