Or live like a local and have an evening cookout in your tree-shaded backyard!
INSIDE THE HOUSE
All 3 bedrooms are located upstairs. And bring a couple extra friends along: the living room sofa folds out into a queen bed and there is a comfy, full-size foldaway bed in the closet.
The master bedroom has a downy queen-size bed and private access to a balcony spanning the whole length of the house. Perch among the treetops in a pair of vintage-modern rocking chairs. Even better: the master bath is an over-the-top treat with a giant, glass-enclosed shower and a double vanity.
The 2nd bedroom also has a queen-sized bed. The 3rd has a full-size bed as well as a twin—a great set-up for kids or a family with kids.
In the large living area, the mid-century modern furniture is arranged into 2 separate conversation areas: one around a fireplace and one around the flat-screen TV. In the living room you will also have a roll away twin bed. The equally gorgeous eat-in kitchen features stainless steel appliances and barstool seating for 4 at the center island also with a TV. Beside the kitchen, a designer dining table effortlessly seats 8 people for a feast, with another TV on the wall for some added entertainment. The table is extendable, by using the two wooden pieces located in the kitchen closet, you can easily fit 2 more guests to total 9 seats
Or head outside to the fenced backyard and chow down on burgers from the grill. The outdoor living area includes a picnic table and cushioned seating, so you can uncork a bottle of wine and spend the evening out here chatting under a string of twinkling outdoor lights.
Note: The upstairs guest bathroom shower can be tricky. To engage the shower, you must pull down on the end of the drain that empties into the bathtub.
But we won’t blame you if you never get around to cooking at home. Our location is just a block from SoFi, where some of Austin’s best eating awaits. Having trouble deciding where to start? For vegetarians, we love Bouldin Creek Café, just a block from the house. On the opposite end of the spectrum, try Tommy Want Wingy, a chicken wing food truck that’s also just a block away.
And those are just the very close options! South Austin is also a food truck paradise, with “trailer parks” serving up some of the most innovative (yet inexpensive) food in Austin.
Unfortunately, there are only 3 meals in the day. Spend the rest of your time exploring Austin! Our vacation rental is just 2 miles from Zilker Park, where you can bike/walk the miles of trails, then take a dip in the natural-fed Barton Springs Pool. And don’t miss the iconic “Greetings from Austin” Postcard Mural—just a 2-minute walk from the house.
In short: there is no better place in Austin to stay if you want to discover what the fuss is all about!
