Come hang out at our family getaway! We love our funky, cozy little cottage. The cottage features two bedrooms. The master has a queen size bed, TV, and master bath with tub and shower. The second bedroom includes a full bed and a twin trundle bed (memory foam), with a sliding glass door to a small outdoor porch with a kids craft table! The pullout couch in the living room has a full mattress, memory foam for your comfort. There is a large screen TV, with DVD player and a range of kid and grown up movies. There is wireless internet and cable but feel free to stay unplugged and use the games, puzzles, toys, and read the books on our bookshelves! While the indoor setup is classy and comfortable, the outdoor garden is funky and our favorite feature of our home. The hot tub, daybed, outdoor shower, barbecue, picnic table, and outdoor seating makes this a great spot to relax and enjoy your vacation!
Last but not least, our house features the art of our brother-in-law, John Finkbiner The art in the home is up for sale!
We're a family of four that wanted a nearby beach house to get away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. Mom's a former international development worker, and prior employee of USAID (www.usaid.gov) but is currently in school to be a marriage and family therapist. Dad's a lawyer that works with American Indian and Alaskan Native tribes, helping them to run their own infrastructure programs. The kids are young, rambunctious boys who love all things dinosaurs and sports - especially baseball. As recent transplants from DC, we're Washington Nationals fans but our combined Indiana and California roots stretch our loyalties to the Padres, Cubs, Dodgers, and Angels!
Judi Finkbiner purchased this cottage in 2015
We fell in love with this property the minute we saw it. The garden provides a peaceful getaway. The place is big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to be cozy and foster a feeling of togetherness.
This worked great for our family of 6 and we had everything we needed. I was worried it might be too small for us, but the home is very spacious and we had plenty of room. The beds were all very comfortable and our kids enjoyed the yard and games provided.
We stayed a week with our two small children (2 and 4) and found this to be absolutely perfect for us. The property is fenced and it was so nice to let our little ones explore the gardens without worrying where they'd end up. There were plenty of toys and blankets and extra bedding for our needs. We made frequent use of the outdoor shower and the quick walk to the beach was a dream come true. We loved walking to dinner and then off to the beach for sunset. We will most definitely be back to stay here. We have fallen in love with Leucadia and Beacon Beach and had the most relaxing time here.
Great house!
The house great!!! Cozy and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided- from extra pillows to beach towels and toys (including board games) to kitchen utensils to cook meals. The outside was great too! It was a safe place for my little one to run around and of course the hot tub was great to have after all the walking we did during our trip! The walk to the public beach wasn't too far. Moonlight beach (which has amenities such as food and bathroom) was a further walk but totally worth it, since we had a 2 year old and stroller etc. Moonlight was easier access to the beach. Overall we had a great vacation and were very comfortable in this cozy cottage!
The house was easy to find, a short drive to the beach, and a lot more spacious than I anticipated. The kitchen and bathrooms were so beautifully done. The TV in the living room was perfect for movie night after a day at the beach and when we got tired of watching TV, we played the board games in the house. The outdoor shower is a major plus! Makes clean up a breeze. There were only a couple things that caught my attention. First the AC isn't the best, but being so close to the ocean that really wasn't too much of an issue. And then we were looking forward to grilling but the propane tank was empty and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Again, not much of an issue since the kitchen had a really nice open stove. Overall, a spectacular place to stay for our trip!
This is our fourth stay at the beach bungalow. We love walking to coffee coffee, eating Haggos tacos and sushi all within a few blocks. We could walk to Beacons and Grandview beach. The hot tub and out door shower make the property a special find! We hope to return next year!
This beach bungalow is a four block walk to Beacon's beach and a one block walk to all the restaurants and funky shops of Leucadia, CA. Steps from the famous Haggo's organic taco, the Yu Me Ya Sake House, Le Papagayo (live music), Fish 101, Mozy Cafe, the Donut shop, the local hangout bar The Leucadian, and much much more.
