4CEDARS TimberFrame Retreat is a private home on 35 wooded acres. Located on the Great River Road that stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to MN, this retreat is convenient for relaxation and exploring IA, IL, and WI.
In 1991 Riverbend TimberFrame Company of Blissfield, Michigan, designed, transported, and crane-erected 75,000 pounds of lumbered and milled native white oak beams and pegs for a three-story-3,700 sq. ft. home in the country. Rooms for guests to enjoy include: (first floor) kitchen, dining, family, and living rooms, ½-bath, and large country porch; (second floor) two guest bedrooms, two baths, balcony room; and (third floor) library with extra sleeping area. The casual-country home is furnished with antiques such as ice box, Hoosier cabinet, and crocks in the kitchen; country school desks on the balcony, and sleigh beds in the winter bedroom. Outside you can enjoy nature’s best: deer, turkey, rabbits and squirrels crossing the yard, ducks and geese flying overhead to/from the Mississippi River, and eagles soaring on thermal updrafts. Guests can hope to find Morel mushrooms in the spring; raspberry, asparagus, strawberries, and apples in the summer and the fall. Also possible are quiet walks through the timber and chats on the decks or at the fire pit.
Three miles from 4CEDARS is Sabula, the only Iowa island town in the Mississippi River. Larger metro areas within an hour of driving time are Clinton and Davenport/Quad Cities to the south, Dubuque to the north, Grant Wood’s Stone City and Cedar Rapids to the west; and by crossing the Mississippi River on the new suspension bridge (2018), guests can tour historic Galena, IL to the northeast.

ABOUT US: Both of us, Randy and Carol Clark, were raised in northeast and north central Iowa, respectively. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, we moved to the Clinton area to enjoy careers and businesses in teaching and technology. Since we are now semi-retired and our two children live in WI and IL, we look forward to hosting guests at our home.
BEFORE WE SAY GOOD-BYE: The views from the home’s three top floors and decks prove the seasonal beauty of Eastern IA. After you’ve lounged with friends/family inside and outside our retreat and/or experienced day trips to nearby attractions, you should leave 4CEDARS TimberFrame Retreat feeling refreshed and ready to resume the normalcy of your life back home.
