About Fran & Sally Devinney
Hi. I love the peacefulness of a house by the water and the Mullica River meets that criteria. It is such a tranquil spot. It was just what I was looking for my vacation get -a -way.
Fran & Sally Devinney purchased this House in 2015
What makes this House unique
We love kayaking on the river. Our house is an ideal spot for that! You can launch your kayak or canoe from the property. Close to Atlantic City and the beach but far enough to escape the crowds. For the traveler, both Philadelphia and New York are easily within range for a day trip.

Scenic and well maintained
The property is beautiful, well maintained, and updated. We stayed for 4 days with our 1 and 2 year olds and it all worked out well.
Tranquility on the Mullica
My husband and I loved our relaxing weekend at the river house. The home is so comfortable and clean! Although we didn't cook, the kitchen was fully equipped and there were staples (sugar, oil, etc.) in the cupboards. Bathroom had essentials too, which is great if you happen to forget something. Bed in master was extremely comfortable. Living room furniture was clean and comfortable as well. The kayaks were an added bonus, and the river was serene and easy to navigate. The deck was perfect for reading during the day and stargazing at night. We also toured the local wineries one day, which was a fun exploration of the area's back roads. Also enjoyed fresh produce from the local farm market. Totally hope to return to the Mullica River House for more relaxing weekends!
Peace and quiet is what I was looking for and your property delivered in a big way.
Fran and Sally, the week spent at your cottage on the Mullica was fabulous. Your cottage is beautiful and well kept and I would recommend it to anyone. We visited Smithville and had dinner at the Inn. The Sweetwater Marina and Riverdeck was close by they had live music, drinks and bar food on the picturesque Mullica. Shore points are relatively close we had dinner at the Tuckahoe Inn which was very nice. Once again thank you both so very much and I’m looking forward to staying at your beautiful house sometime in the near future !!!!
Perfect home, perfect location
We were able to do everything we imagined from this beautiful, clean, brand new looking home. Kayaking on the river was fantastic. (go upstream until you are exhausted and float back :-) ) We hiked along the Mullica river trail (5 minute drive from the home), Visited Batsto (7 minutes), went biking (the shoulders on the main road to Sweetwater are very wide and safe with dozens of bikers at any given time. We enjoyed some night life in Atlantic City (35 minute drive), and visited the wonderful quaint town of Smithville (25 minutes) and had a wonderful dinner at the Smithville Inn. Fran and Sally were perfect hosts and the home was immaculately clean. We plan to come back in 3 months since there are more things to do. Although the river is the color of tea (Cedar water) The Mullica is among the cleanest rivers in New Jersey since it flows through State Park land from its inception. The water is said to be good for your skin and hair due to its anticeptic qualities.
Weekend Getaway Perfection
We had a very relaxing weekend at Fran and Sally's house, who were extremely accommodating. The house was spacious, comfortable, well-decorated, and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped.The fridge even had a container of milk and fresh blueberries. We really enjoyed the back deck, which overlooked the peaceful Mullica River. We wished that we could've stayed longer. This house is an excellent choice for a comfortable, relaxing retreat!!
Lovely, tranquil home with much to do in the area
We had the most relaxing stay at this lovely home. The deck is where we spent much of our time. The owners seem to have thought of everything. It is well appointed, in seemingly brand new condition, with a book of recommended restaurants, places to see, things to do and instructions on things about the house. We were even able to borrow kayaks, paddles and life vests from the owners to enjoy the river up close. We cannot say enough great things about this home. The pictures certainly do not do it justice. We made a trip to the beach, Batsto village, Tuckerton, Atison Lake, picked blueberries for a pie we made, downtown Hammonton and much more. Thank you Sally and Fran! We will definitely return soon!
Our house is located about 30 miles to Atlantic City for beaches, casinos, and outlet shopping and Ocean City for a family friendly boardwalk and beach. We are about an hour and half from city of Philadelphia. Guests have access to two kayaks that you can launch right from the backyard of our property.
